Chapter 20: CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS
The Watcher: Among the many misconceptions humanity holds dear, is the fallacy that all beings are created equal. In truth, there are those who are greater, they are called heroes. But even among heroes there are different echelons. Beings of the purest will who can ultimately save the multiverse. They are called Paragons.
While all of the heroes were fighting the battle of their lives, the incursion was slowly decimating both universe-199999 and universe-838.
Meanwhile the entire multiverse was on the edge of a precipice. The multiversal war was in full effect. Every version of Kang was everywhere causing madness, conquering universe after universe and causing incursions left and right. But amidst the multiversal chaos, there existed an alliance of Kangs that came together under the leadership of the original Kang and his council. They possessed an army that could wipe out entire civilizations in a blink of an eye. They came to know about The Watcher's plan to stop them, so they sent their servants, other Kangs, and lent them their unimaginably large army to thwart The Watcher's plan.
Universe-96283
New York
This universe is where the original Spider-Man lives (Played by Tobey Maguire).
The villains that were cured in the Statue of Liberty event was brought to this universe in present time, so Norman Osborn (Green Goblin), Dr. Otto Octavius (Doctor Octopus) and Sandman all returned to this universe. (*Spider-Man: No Way Home*)
A version of Kang and the forces lent to him by the council, began laying waste to New York. Spider-Man, Sandman, Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and the entire military did everything they possibly could to try and stop the invasion, but to no avail. They all fought to their last breath, but Kang was too powerful.
Spider-Man was kneeling on the ground, trying to get back up. His mask was torn to shreds and he had cuts and bruises everywhere on his face and body. Kang stood in front of him with his arms behind his back. Spider-Man coughed up blood from his lungs and he looked Kang straight in his glowing eyes with courage and determination.
Spider-Man: For 24 years... *cough* I've protected this city... You will never *cough* win. I am Spider-Man, you're just... Another psychopath that will be crossed off my list... Like all the others.
Peter got back up and tried punching Kang in the face, but Kang instantly knocked him back down again.
Kang: I admire your persistence, Spider-Man. But now you will die. For I am Kang the Conqueror. You are just another Spider-Man that will be crossed off my list. Like all the other Spider-Mans I've already killed...
Kang took out one of his highly advanced weapons and held it in Spider-Man's direction. Peter closed his eyes and thought about his wife and children whom he just lost by the hands of Kang's army decimating all of New York without even trying. Peter thought back to two hours ago, the last moments he spent with his family, without even saying a proper goodbye.
Two hours ago
Spider-Man, who has become a vereran hero by now, with a 24-year record of valiantly protecting his beloved city, has once again emerged triumphant against a seemingly unstoppable threat.
Amidst the cheers of the city's populace, he deftly maneuvered through the urban landscape, effortlessly swinging through the air with the grace and skill that has become the hallmark of his heroism.
Exuding an infectious exuberance, he acknowledged the cheers of his adoring fans with a boisterous scream that echoed throughout the cityscape.
Spider-Man: WOOOOHOOOOO!
With a daring swoop and a flourish, he swooped down to the sidewalk level, dispensing high-fives to the group of onlookers who were basking in the glory of his latest feat.
Meanwhile, back at his humble abode, Spider-Man's loving wife, MJ, and their two children, Benjamin Parker and Michelle Parker, were glued to the TV as breaking news of Spider-Man's latest exploit unfolded. Thanks to his unwavering dedication and tireless efforts, the nefarious Vulture and Mysterio of this universe have finally been brought to justice by the stalwart superhero.
As he entered his home, still adorned in his iconic Spider-Man costume, Peter Parker was greeted by the warm embrace of his beloved wife, who embraces him with a look of pride and admiration.
MJ: There he is! The man of the hour. I'm proud of you tiger.
Peter Parker: All in a day's work... I also brought you something.
He took out an hilariously large vase full of flowers out of an oversized bag and accidentally dropped some of the flowers on the floor.
Peter Parker: Come on, you gotta be kidding me...
MJ: Where did you get all these flowers?
Peter Parker: I managed to swing by a flower shop, so I thought I'd buy you some, but then the guy just gave all these for free! Guess he's a big fan.
He kneeled down to pick up all the flowers that fell on the floor, but then even more fell on the ground. He just sighs while shaking his head. He picks it up and puts them back into the vile, but when he stands back up, all the flowers fell on the floor once again. Peter just stood up and looked at MJ. MJ just smiles faintly while rolling her eyes.
MJ: Peter Parker... You will never change, will you?
Their 8 year old daughter jumps up from the couch and gives Peter a hug.
Michelle: Don't worry daddy, we will help you pick it up.
Peter Parker: That's my little girl! How was school today?
Michelle: Meh it was boring. We didn't get any homework though!
Peter Parker: Wow that's great!
MJ looks at him with her arms crossed.
Peter Parker: ... Awful. That's very bad. I'm gonna have to talk to the school about that now.
Their 13 year old son was still sitting on the couch with the remote in his hands, changing the channels.
Benjamin: Hey dad, how was work?
Peter Parker: (Sarcastically) Ha ha very funny.
MJ: You know, Benjamin, if your dad was not here in the last 24 years, this city would've been either completely destroyed or be the most dangerous place in the world by now.
Benjamin: I know, I know. I was just joking around.
Peter Parker: Yeah we know, kid. Your sense of humor reminds me of uncle Ben sometimes.
MJ: You know what you need? A nice long shower. You just saved the city for literally the 11th time. (Sarcastically) You're probably so exhausted.
She leans in and kisses him softly on his lips.
Spider-Man: What's with all the jokes today?
As they were speaking, breaking news interrupted every single channel on TV. It showed purple breaches in the sky opening up right above Manhattan, New York. Out of these purple openings, a version of Kang and his entire army appeared and began attacking everything in order to make his prescence known. Peter looked outside the window and saw it with his own eyes.
Peter Parker: Well... They never said being the protector of an entire city would be easy... Looks like this is another job for Spider-Man... Again. (Sighs)
MJ: Go get'em tiger.
Peter Parker: I'll be right back.
MJ: I know.
He put his mask back on and swings out of the window.
Two hours later
Present day
As Peter kneeled defeated in front of Kang holding a weapon into his direction, tears began streaming down his face after thinking about MJ and his children. He never thought this day would come, but here it is. No one has ever been able to beat him this easily. Nobody has ever even beaten him at all... Until today.
Kang was ready to pull the trigger when suddenly The Watcher appeared from out of nowhere in between Kang and Spider-Man. He looked Peter in the eyes.
The Watcher: Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, the greatest hero on this universe... You... have been chosen.
Kang: Who are you?
The Watcher looked at Doctor Octopus.
The Watcher: Doctor Otto Octavius, one of the greatest minds on the planet, brilliant scientist turned tragic hero... you... Have been chosen.
The Watcher held out his right hand. A bright light blinded everyone for a moment and he disappeared with Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus.
After speaking to the Living Tribunal, The Watcher was tasked to recruit a team consisting of the greatest heroes across the multiverse. These candidates were referred to as the Paragons of the Multiverse. The Council of Kangs has sent some of their variants accross the multiverse to kill anything and anyone, even if it meant taking over entire worlds, to ensure that The Watcher does not succeed in his plan. They didn't know who the Paragons were, but they were sent everywhere to possible universes where the paragons might be, to stop them from being recruited.
Universe-19478
It was all out war, this universe's Avengers were trying their best to hold off this variant of Kang and his army, but they just kept coming. It was useless to fight. As most of you already know, in this universe, like the one from universe-838, this version of Peggy Carter received the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers and became known as Captain Carter. ("What if...?" Season 1 Episode 1)
Most of the avengers in this universe was already defeated, lying on the floor under Kang's feet. This Kang was a tad more ruthless than the one who attacked Spider-Man. He stood on top of a completely destroyed pyramid, with his right foot resting on top of Thor while choking Hulk to death with his left arm and holding the decapitated head of Iron Man in his right hand.
Captain Carter stood up with a bloody face, broken nose and a partially broken shield.
Kang: Why are you fighting, Captain? You have already lost.
Captain Carter: (She wipes the blood off her nose) Maybe, but I'd rather die a warrior's death than to give up and watch you destroy my world!
She ran toward Kang when suddenly The Watcher appeared in front of her.
Captain Carter: Watcher? What are you doing here?
The Watcher: Captain Carter, the multiverse is in danger. You are chosen once again, this time to be a Paragon.
Captain Carter: A what?
In an instant, the Watcher disappears with Captain Carter to somewhere unknown.
Universe-736
S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier
This was the universe that lost its Avengers before they had a chance to assemble. They were assassinated by a rogue version of Hank Pym.
("What if...?" Season 1 Episode 3)
The only heroes of this universe were Captain America and Captain Marvel. They were recruited by Nick Fury to end Loki's rule over earth back in 2012.
Natasha Romanoff also known as Black Widow, was brought to this universe by the Watcher a while ago because her entire universe was destroyed by Ultron.
She was currently in the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. Nick Fury had just received a signal that Washington DC was under attack and the White House has already fallen. It was a version of Kang and his army, beginning their conquest on this universe. The sirens went off inside the helicarrier with S.H.I.E.L.D. agents running to their stations. Black Widow was busy suiting up, putting her weapons in their holsters when the Watcher appeared in front of her.
The Watcher: Natasha Romanoff, the woman who lost her entire universe... You... Have been chosen.
The Watcher disappeared again, taking Black Widow with him.
Universe-120703
This is the universe where the Amazing Spider-Man lives (Played by Andrew Garfield from The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2). He is the 3rd Spider-Man that was present during the statue of liberty incident. (Spider-Man: No Way Home)
One of the Kangs inevitably also reached this universe, but like many other universes, it led to an incursion. Kang barely began his conquest when the incursion started and the universe began collapsing in on itself. Kang then retreated with his army. Spider-Man tried everything to save as many people as possible, but he couldn't be everywhere all at once and the incursion became worse by the minute. There was absolutely nothing he could do, so he just gave up. As the incursion destroyed everything and everyone, Peter swung to what was left of the Empire State building, the building where he used to sit in solitude, looking over the city he called home.
He looked over the destroyed city and was reminded that this was currently happening around the world, not just here. The sheer scale of this crisis was too much for Spider-Man to wrap his head around. All he could do was sit in silence, closing his eyes and thinking about everyone he failed to save. He then thought about his parents, uncle Ben, aunt May... Gwen... He was all alone. The utter pain, melancholy and sadness in his face could be seen from a mile away as he awaited his inevitable demise, with a glimmer of hope that he might now be reunited with his loved ones in the hereafter.
Just when all hope seemed to be lost, the Watcher appeared in front of him. Peter was startled for a moment as he looked at this giant being in front of him.
The Watcher: Peter Parker...
Spider-Man: How do you know my name? Who are you?
The Watcher: I am the Watcher. I was sent here to recruit you for a higher purpose. The entire multiverse hangs in the balance.
Spider-Man: I can't even save my own world... You sure you want my help?
The Watcher: You are chosen to be a Paragon. All will be revealed, but you have to join me. The others are waiting.
Before Spider-Man could say anything back, the Watcher disappeared with him in a bright flash of light, leaving this dead universe behind.
Universe-188888
In this universe, everything happened exactly the same as ours until 2016. The Avengers never disbanded because the sokovia accords was never put in place and civil war never happened. That caused a ripple effect, creating a whole new timeline where the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy were all together when Thanos arrived, resulting in their early victory. Since then, the team grew even stronger. The heroes are all the exact same as our universe except for one thing, Iron Man never died and Captain America never gave up the shield.
After a version of Kang began attacking their world, he was surprised by the fact that he had a harder time conquering this universe than all the others, but they were still no real problem for him even though somewhat 40 heroes joined the war along with S.W.O.R.D. and the military. They held him off only a little longer than the rest of the worlds, but eventually the overwhelmingly large and powerful army of Kang managed to get the upper hand.
That was when the Watcher arrived in front of Iron Man (Played by Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Played by Chris Evans). They were fighting side by side as they should.
Iron Man: Who are you supposed to be? Giant bobble head man?
The Watcher: Tony Stark and Steve Rogers... Earth's mightiest Avengers... You... Have been chosen.
Universe-92131
(This universe was a live action variation of the Marvel Animated universe that started with X-Men in 1992 which included multiple series such as Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and Fantastic Four. This universe is also the same universe as the very popular animated Spider-Man show that ran through 1994 to 1998. It is also the same universe as the planned X-Men '97 Disney+ show.)
The heroes of this universe protected their world for over 34 years already, they faced the greatest threats known to mankind, but there was one threat they haven't faced yet. That threat was none other than Kang the Conqueror. This world was one of the rare worlds that had the Avengers, X-Men, the Fantastic Four and every other individual hero all in the same universe, but they were still outnumbered and outmatched. Many heroes have already fallen.
Kang loomed menacingly over the fallen bodies of the entire Fantastic Four, multiple Avengers, and numerous X-Men, including the likes of Storm, Cyclops, and Rogue. The once-great heroes lay defeated at Kang's feet, their lifeless forms testament to the unrelenting power and merciless ambition of the time-traveling despot.
With Captain America's shattered shield in hand, Kang held Spider-Man's throat in a vice-like grip, snuffing out the hero's life with a single, effortless motion. Casting Spider-Man's lifeless form to the ground, Kang prepared to face Wolverine, who charged at him with a fury born of desperation. Kang, however, was not to be underestimated.
In a display of raw strength and brutality, he grabbed Wolverine's left adamantium arm and twisted it until it broke, then shattered his right leg with a swift and merciless stomp. The Wolverine's screams of agony filled the air as Kang, relishing in the terror he inspired, ripped one of his claws from his hand and plunged it deep into his chest, ending his life once and for all. With a cruel smile, Kang surveyed the remaining heroes, seeking to instill in them a sense of hopelessness and dread.
Among them, however, were two individuals whom The Watcher was seeking: The fearless Jean Grey, portrayed by the inimitable Sophie Turner, and the wise and powerful Professor Charles Xavier, played by the legendary Patrick Stewart. Kang knew that he must not allow these two to slip through his grasp.
The battlefield was large and all over the place with multiple heroes spread across it, some trying to fight Kang while others protected civilians while fighting Kang's army. The Watcher appeared in front of Professor Charles Xavier first.
Professor X: A Watcher? What are you doing here? I thought Watchers never interfere with the natural flow of events.
The Watcher: Professor Charles Xavier... The greatest leader of this universe. You have been chosen.
The Watcher raised his hand, causing a bright light to appear, causing Professor X to vanish out of sight. The Watcher then appeared in front of Jean Grey.
The Watcher: Jean Grey, also known as Phoenix. One of the most powerful mutants in this universe... You have been chosen.
Universe-1048
(This universe is the live action variation of the highly praised Ps4 Spider-Man franchise.)
Spider-Man was swinging through the city as usual, searching for criminal activity with his crime fighting partner, Miles Morales who was dressed in a black Spider-Man outfit with red in between. Miles finally ran into a robbery taking place and he notified Spider-Man over the comms.
Miles: Spider-Man, I found something! I'm sending you the location now.
Spider-Man: Alright, stay. Spider-Cop is on his way.
Suddenly, purple cracks opened up the sky above New York city with a version of Kang appearing out of it with his entire army.
Miles: Uhh... Spider-Man, are you seeing this?
Spider-Man: The name is Spider-Cop.
Miles: Are you serious right now? Look at the sky!
Spider-Man: It's kinda hard to not see it, Miles.
After some time has passed, Kang tore through New York city as if it was nothing. Spider-Man couldn't stop him, Miles Morales couldn't stop him and the military couldn't stop him. It was their most desperate hour. Desperate times called for desperate measures, so all the villains who they've fought over the years was released from the raft. Every single villain in Spider-Man's rogues gallary began fighting against Kang and his army since they knew that the entire world could be in danger.
The Avengers from this universe was brought through a portal by their Doctor Strange in order to join the fight. But just like every other universe, they were failing miserably. Some of the more powerful heroes and villains tried to take on Kang head on while Spider-Man and Miles were fighting side by side against Kang's army.
As they were fighting, The Watcher appeared.
Miles: What in the name of balloonhead megamind are you supposed to be?
The Watcher: Peter Parker and Miles Morales... You have been chosen.
Universe-200000
(This universe is almost the same as the MCU but Edward Norton remained Hulk.)
In this universe, everyone died in an incursion event caused by Kang, but the Incredible Hulk was the sole survivor. He was unable to die. As he was sitting on a hill somewhere in the desert, The Watcher appeared behind him. Hulk turned his head to look at him.
Hulk: Hmm?
The Watcher: Bruce Banner, also known as the Incredible Hulk, the strongest there is... The sole survivor of your universe... You... Have been chosen.
Universe-688
This universe had no heroes, but strange enough as it is, it only consisted of Spider-Man villains turned vigilantes. A group of these superpowered individuals were recruited by Adrian Toomes AKA the Vulture from our universe (universe-199999).
Some time ago he was displaced in this universe through the same purple openings in the sky after the statue of liberty incident (*Spider-Man: No Way Home*). The brief destabilization of the multiverse caused by our Doctor Strange's spell, confused reality and accidentally sent The Vulture to this universe. (Watch *Morbius*)
After Vulture recruited multiple individuals such as Venom, Morbius, Kraven the hunter, El Muerto and Black Cat, they combined their strengths to begin an underground operation, fighting and killing criminals illegally for personal gain. The media began dubbing them The Sinister Six. After being displaced on this universe for too long, Vulture left too big of a footprint which triggered an incursion between our universe and this one. But in this instance, since our universe was already experiencing an incursion with universe-838, the incursion caused by Vulture only affected this universe.
The incursion was at its early stages, with multiple waves of earthquakes hitting the world. The Sinister Six was divided with some selfish cowards seeking shelter while others like Venom and Morbius tried to save as many people as possible. A building began collapsing with people inside. Venom and Morbius stood outside.
Venom: Alright, you take the ones on the left! I take the ones on the right!
Morbius' vampire teeth came out and his skin changed shade. He activated his echo location abilities and smirked faintly.
Morbius: It's morbin' time!
Morbius used his fast reflexes and super speed to get many people out of the building, Venom grabbed as many as possible and shielded them from the debris. After the building collapsed, Venom walked out with the people he saved. The Watcher then appeared in front of him.
Venom: (Talks to Eddie who shares a body with him) What the hell is that!?
The Watcher: Eddie Brock, the infamous reporter who became binded with the alien symbiote known as Venom... You have been chosen.
Universe-121698
(This universe was home to the original Fantastic Four from the two movies called "Fantastic Four 2004" and "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 2007")
The Fantastic Four teamed up with Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd) to try and stop Kang's invasion. This was not the first time this team came together to save the world. They previously saved Earth from Galactus himself. Just like all the others who already tried and failed, this team struggled against Kang and his army. Silver Surfer took out many of them but they kept coming. They tried to use the "supernova" trick on Kang, the same way they defeated their version of Doctor Doom back in 2004. Human Torch flew around Kang, creating a vortex of extreme heat rivalling that of the sun itself, Invisible Woman created a forcefield around it while Silver Surfer was in the middle of the vortex fighting against Kang. Kang's highly advanced 31st Century tech and all of his powerful mutant abilities protected him from the extreme heat. Silver Surfer tried to attack him with his cosmic powers but Kang only absorbed each blow and took part of Silver Surfer's power bit by bit.
Just before Silver Surfer was about to cause a giant cosmic explosion the same way he defeated Galactus, The Watcher appeared and took him away to the same place he took the rest. This Kang tried to attack The Watcher, now also inside the Vortex, he got some hits in and The Watcher could feel his energy depleting. Kang was even too powerful for him. The Watcher knew in a physical fight, he would lose, so he pointed his hand at Kang and teleported him away somewhere unknown.
The Vortex finally stopped. The Fantastic Four expected Kang and Silver Surfer to be in the middle, but they were met with The Watcher standing in front of them.
The Thing: Uhh... Where's Silver boy!?
Human Torch: Reed... Who's this?
They all stared at The Watcher, confused.
Invisible Woman: What have you done with Norrin!?
Mr Fantastic: Who are you? Where's Kang?
The Watcher: Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm... Also known as The Fantastic Four, the only heroes of this Earth... You... Have been chosen.
Just after The Watcher vanished with them, Kang found his way back and continued his conquest.
Universe-400083
(This universe is home to the 2003 Hulk movie directed by Ang Lee Starring Eric Bana as Hulk.)
This universe was once very much like all the others, but with its only hero being The Hulk. Some time ago, this universe came in contact with multiple other heroes from an alternate universe, the universe where Janet Van Dyne returned from the quantum realm and infected the world with a zombie virus. ("What If...?" Season 1 Episode 5)
After completely annihilating all the remaining survivors of that universe, the zombified heroes became extremely hungry and unfortunately discovered the multiverse. They went from universe to universe, infecting hundreds of earths, also causing incursions on some others. The more worlds that were infected, the more zombified heroes joined their ranks. This multiversal zombie outbreak became the biggest and deadliest multiversal pandemic in history.
(This is my version of what happens in the upcoming Marvel Zombies Disney+ show.)
The zombies eventually found their way to this universe and infected nearly everyone, with its only survivor being Hulk. He fought his way through countless zombies for months on end with no rest. But he didn't get tired, he just got bigger, angrier and stronger than ever before. None of the zombies were a match for him, but he was all alone against billions! They were too many and they kept coming.
Hulk was still busy fighting thousands of zombies that were attacking him when The Watcher appeared in front of him. Hulk was confused for a moment.
The Watcher: Doctor Bruce Banner, also known as The Hulk... The most powerful Hulk in the multiverse... You... Have been chosen.
This Hulk was his final member in his team consisting of the greatest heroes in the multiverse, they were called The Paragons of the Multiverse.
Supreme Strange's Pocket Dimension
This was the universe that was inadvertantly destroyed through an incursion event caused by its Doctor Strange when he tried to prevent a fixed point in his timeline, the death of Christine. This Doctor Strange became known as Supreme Strange. Before his entire universe was engulfed in darkness, he created a round pocket reality around himself to not be erased from existence.
("What if...?" Season 1 Episode 4)
After being recruited by The Watcher to defeat Infinity Ultron, he was tasked to watch over Arnim Zola and Eric Killmonger whom he froze in time while they were fighting to get the infinity stones. He created a small purple pocket reality around them as well and watched over them ever since.
Before The Watcher recruited his team of paragons, he first informed Strange Supreme of the plan. Strange Supreme welcomed each member that The Watcher sent to him one by one. He explained what was going on and to some he had to explain the concept of the multiverse since some had no idea why others looked familiar and some looked almost the same as them. Two of the Spider-Mans (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) were happpy to see each other again while others like Captain America (Steve Rogers) and Captain Carter (Peggy Carter) were very confused over seeing each other since Peggy Carter died on Steve's universe and Steve died on Peggy's universe. Black Widow was sad and happy at the same time when she saw Iron Man and Captain America since both of them died on her universe fighting Ultron. Human Torch and Captain America were also weirded out at each other since they looked the same (Both played by Chris Evans). As they stood inside the pocket reality of Strange Supreme, The Watcher finally arrived with Hulk, the final member.
The team consisted of Strange Supreme, Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire), Doctor Octopus, Captain Carter, Black Widow, The Amazing Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), Captain America, Iron Man, Professor X, Jean Grey (Phoenix), Spider-Man (Ps4), Miles Morales (Ps4), The Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton), Venom, Silver Surfer, The Fantastic Four and The Hulk (Eric Bana).
Hulk (2003 Hulk) was angered and confused, out of instinct he lashed out at at The Watcher, but Strange Supreme instantly calmed him down with a spell which also worked as a way for Hulk to understand what was going on. He did the same with the other Hulk earlier (Incredible Hulk).
The Watcher: I assume Strange explained everything to most of you already. That means you all know why you were brought together and the reason why this... Is the most important point... in each and every one of your lives.
Human Torch: Yeah... I'm still a little lost over the whole multiverse thing.
Captain America: And I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this random guy looks... Exactly like me.
Human Torch: Maybe we're like multiversal twins or something! That would be kinda awesome.
The Thing: Listen big head, our entire world will be doomed if you don't send us back to stop Kang!
The Watcher looked at Strange.
The Watcher: You didn't tell them what was really going on?
Strange Supreme: I just went through it quickly. I didn't think we would have time to tell them an entire story.
The Watcher sighed and looked at everyone standing in front of him.
The Watcher: There are currently countless versions of Kang, conquering universe after universe while fighting each other to preserve their own timeline. Your universe is only one of an infinite number that is currently or soon will be attacked by a version of Kang. They will not stop until there is nothing left. Some of you saw what an incursion can do to your worlds. That is what will happen to all of existence if we do not stop this war.
Iron Man: Look I don't wanna like burst your optimism or anything but Cap and I just fought in a war against one of those Kangs. All of the Avengers of my universe came together as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy, we were still not enough to stop him.
Professor X: Same, Jean and I also came from a war against Kang. The heroes of my universe protected the world on multiple occasions, faced the greatest evil known to man and yet, we couldn't stop Kang. He slaughtered us like animals.
Spider-Man (Tobey): Kang completely destroyed all of New York which I protected for over 24 years... In a matter of minutes. Nothing I could do. He killed millions, including my wife... And my children.
Doctor Octopus: He took out the entire US army as if they were child's play.
Mr Fantastic: (Talks to The Watcher) If you're saying there are countless Kangs currently attacking countless universes, how would we even begin to stop it? We couldn't even save our universe from one single Kang.
The Watcher: All will be revealed. You just have to trust the plan.
Captain Carter: Besides the plan to save Wanda Maximoff, I am still unclear over what the plan is afterward.
The Watcher: You were brought together under the orders of The Living Tribunal. The ultimate overseer of existence. Your purpose is beyond your understanding, but he will make everything clear... When it is time.
Spider-Man #3 (Andrew Garfield): So... Are we some sort of team destined to be the ultimate saviors of the multiverse?
Strange Supreme: Actually... Yes. We are. It's written inside the pages of the lost books of Cagliostro. It never gave any names, but it did mention that the multiverse was assigned 21 protectors known as Paragons whose entire lives were monitored and observed closely by The Living Tribunal.
(This explains why we as audience saw their movies and not some other version of them. Their movies are a physical representation of The Living Tribunal observing the most pivotal points in each of their lives. Since the beginning, we witnessed their stories unfold before our very eyes. All leading to this moment.)
The Watcher: This is that moment each living being strives toward. Your purpose. This is the moment your entire lives led to. The moment your destiny and purpose is fulfilled. From this point onward, if you suceed, you will be remembered for generations to come... And You will be know as...
THE PARAGONS OF THE MULTIVERSE
(I notice I didn't include silver surfer and venom in this image, I will probably fix it some day. But it is what it is for now.)
