Chapter 18: The Kang Dynasty

The dynasty of Nathaniel Richards AKA Kang the Conqueror is not an ordinary one. The dynasty does not span across time and it is not a blood lineage. It is instead a dynasty of Kangs throughout the multiverse. Just as any dynasty, this one, too, had a beginning.
There is one thing that every Kang in the multiverse had in common. It was the one thing that linked them all, what made them nearly identical to one another. It was the one event that made Kang who he is. The day he swore to dedicate his life to end all mutants and restore humanity.

A long time ago in the future
In the original timeline

The 31st Century

Long before he became known as Kang the Conqueror, Nathaniel Richards was a very gifted child, just like everyone in his lineage before him, just like his great ancestor, Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic), he was gifted with unrivaled Intelligence. He was just born in the wrong time. A time where most of humanity has evolved into mutants. Only a very few number of people remained unchanged, not developing any mutant abilities. Kang was one of the very few humans left in a world run by mutants. Humans became known as sapiens. A world united under one banner, The House of M, in this case, M meaning Mutant.

Many mutants developed a form of discrimination and racial hatred toward the remaining humans. Some schools, public areas and workplaces completely banned sapiens from being there. Humans were seen as the lowest of the lowest. They were seen as the defect in the gene, treated like garbage. Kang saw how cruel, lost and unfair the world has become. He spent many days lost in his thoughts, thinking of ways things could be different. But he was frustrated knowing that there was nothing he could do about it. As a teenager, he was desperate to become a mutant himself just so that he would be accepted by society. He spent years drafting plans for a machine he would build one day, which will give him mutant abilities, he just didn't have the recources to build it yet.

Because he was not a mutant, he was looked down upon by both his classmates and teachers. He was all alone with no friends. What made matters worse was the fact that he was so intelligent that he won all academic awards and was always the top preformer in school. He rarely lost a mark on any test. That made everyone around him hate him even more. "How could a sapien be better than us?" They thought to themselves. He was completely shunned by everyone around him. Over the years as he went through high school, he slowly developed a deep hatred towards mutants. He wanted nothing to do with them. Hence why he completely scrapped his plans for his machine. He was proud to be a sapien, but he hated the word with every fibre of his being.

Years later he became a brilliant scientist. He developed groundbreaking advancements in both the medical and technological field. Yet, because he was human, none of those achievements went noticed the way it should. Nothing a sapien did, mattered to this broken society.

One day he was walking home from his lab when he heard a scream in agony. He ran around the corner and saw a bunch of mutants torturing a helpless human. The human was not older than 21. One mutant was holding the young man against a wall with telekinesis. Another used his ice abilities and completely froze both of the young man's arms. Another mutant was holding a camera, recording it all while they all laughed and spat in his face while he screamed in agony. When they saw Kang, they saw another opportunity. They began walking towards him while mocking him.

"Hey look, it's that science freak! The sapien science freak."

"Come here, we want to show you something."

Kang: Leave. The kid. Alone...

Kang was frozen in place. His fists clenched in anger and hatred. He did not know what he should do. He couldn't possibly win this fight. He was merely a human. His brain worked in overdrive and he quickly thought of an idea. He saw that these mutants were one of the lower level ones. Powers such as ice, fire, telekinesis etc. It meant that they were vulnerable just like any human.

As they slowly approached him, he ran around the corner as fast as he can. He knew they would follow him but his lab was luckily still nearby. He quickly ran inside and activated the fire alarm causing the sprinklers to go off. They follwed him inside the building but they did not see where he went inside. He turned off the power in the building with a mobile device and took out one of the power outlets and threw it on the wet floor. He hid under a table and waited for them. As they walked into the room, he reactivated the lab's power. The exposed outlet that was in contact with the water, caused a very high electrical current, surging through the entire room. Kang was safe since it was completely dry under the table. The three mutants were nearly shocked to death before Kang turned the power off again. As they laid on the ground, barely conscious, Kang stood over them in utter hatred. He thought about everything mutants did to him, he thought about every time he was bullied, shunned, looked down upon, not recognized for his brilliance... He finally looked them in the eyes and all he saw was the poor kid that they just tortured. If he was not there, they would've killed him. As Kang looked into their eyes with utter hatred, he slowly raised his right arm holding a gun.

"Wait!"

*BLAM*

"No... No! Please!"

*BLAM*

Without a single hesitating though, he shot two of them in the head. He had no facial expression other than hatred. The remaining mutant began crawling away. Kang put his boot on his head and stomped on it so hard that it nearly crushed his skull.

"Please... Please, let me go! I won't tell the police I swear! Please!"

Kang picked the man up from the floor. The man was too weakened to defend himself. Kang started punching him in his face from left to right, blood splattering everywhere, until he fell back onto the floor. Kang put his knee on his chest and continued to punch him over and over again. The man's blood was splattered all over Kang's face. The man was not dead yet, but he was barely breathing. Kang stood up and kicked him in the face. He walked away, seemingly letting the mutant live, but he only went away for a brief moment to get a knife. Kang stood over the man and began stabbing him everywhere. The man screamed in agony for a while until he finally released his last breath.

Kang stood up, breathing heavily. He looked around him and only then realized what he had done. His extreme intellect allowed him to quickly form a plan to get rid of any evidence of this crime scene. No one ever found out about this night.

That event was the turning point. The fixed point in time. The point that would inevitably cause the multiversal war. After what happened, Kang swore to dedicate his life to ending all mutants by any means necessary. That was when he reinitiated the scrapped plans he made years ago that would to make him a mutant. He developed the device for years, but Instead of giving himself mutant abilities, he changed some things in the innitial design, the device was now developed to absorb any mutant's powers, giving it to himself, but also draining the mutant's life force, resulting in their death. This was the same device that he is now trying to use to steal Wanda's power.

Kang began draining mutants everywhere he went, stealing their power and killing them. The abilities of those mutants were stored inside two devices on Kang's wrist. Without those devices, he would not have any powers.

Kang became so powerful that not even the authorities could do anything about it. During his quest, he gained many human followers. At first they were a small group, creating small riots, but as their ranks grew, Kang became a symbol of hope. Fighting for human right, both on the political and physical front.

Kang promised that sapiens would one day take back what is rightfully their world. All sapiens were fed up with mutants. They were pushed to their limits. It was time to change things. Over the years, Kang recruited enough people to begin an uprising, he created many highly advanced weaponry, armor and devices to use in combat, giving it out to all of his followers. Humans caused chaos and riots around the world, with Kang being the main instigator.

During this time, Kang still went everywhere, absorbing everyone's powers for himself. After a very, very long time, Kang had enough power and ranks behind him to finally lay waste to the White House and he took over the entire country.

From there, the United States became a place for all human refugees, under Kang's banner. He became a world power, and there was nothing the House of M could do. Over the years, Kang began taking over the neighboring countries of the US until the entire North and South-America continent belonged to him.

Soon he began taking over every country in the world, one by one his army and technology grew, at that point there was no stopping him. Finally, after conquering the very last territory, Genosha, he became the ultimate ruler of the world. This was the 7th World War that The Watcher was talking about. The war that became known as the descimation. The war that turned the tide and nearly led to the extinction of mutants. Kang finally became the ultimate ruler of planet Earth, overthrowing The House of M.

After a long time, he began thinking about every other planet in the universe and how those planets may also be as unfair and cruel as this one. His lust for power had taken over his reasonable thinking, and he sought out to conquer planet after planet in the galaxy until everything was under his control... And so he did. In the end, he became the first ever ruler of an entire Galaxy. He created the very first Galactic Empire.

From here, the story is all too familiar. His obsession with the mutant gene led him to experiment on many of them until he finally found the key to time travel and multiversal travel. After inventing time travel, he saw a genius opportunity, he could go back in time to when mutants first began appearing in the 21st century and conquer the world before mutants took control. His discovery of the multiverse then made him go to different Earths from across the multiverse and conquer them as well. The problem, however, was the fact that every other Kang throughout the multiverse had this exact same goal. This was the start of the multiversal war.

Over time, Kang met multiple other variants of himself who would form an alliance with him, being lead by 4 of the most powerful Kangs in the multiverse, called the Council of Kangs. The first variant had the very same resemblance as him, essentially a carbon copy of him, The Conqueror. The other variant was merely named Kang, but after the multiverse was rebooted by Wanda, he was pulled through time outside of the timelines, causing him to live billions of years and came to be known as Immortus. The third variant was obsessed with the past, especially Ancient Egypt, so, he travelled to the past and became its ruler, calling himself Farao Rama Tut. The fourth variant had a unique rivalry with one, Doctor Doom from his universe, and designed his weapons, personality and armor to mirror his every way, he became known as The Scarlet Centurion.

After years of war, the original multiverse was then completely erased by Wanda Maximoff and she rewrote all of reality and created one single timeline without any mutants while puppeteering one variant of Kang, he who Remains, to create the TVA and prevent any branches to form. This reality was where the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) was based in.

Due to resetting the entire multiverse, Wanda could not remember her life in the original reality, just like everybody else. So she did not discover the Nexus entity inside of her until the incident at Westview, which caused the multiverse to branch out yet again which is now causing the very same multiversal war to repeat itself for the second time, and, as fate willed it, the council of Kangs found each other again, having eyes and ears across the multiverse, they came to know about The Living Tribunal and The Watcher's secret plan to stop them, so they decided to send multiple versions of themselves throughout the multiverse, trying to thwart the plan for good.

The present day

While universe-199999 and universe-838 had their own problem to deal with right now, the entire multiverse around them was in complete turmoil. Kangs are already everywhere in the multiverse, taking control of every single Earth in the 21st Century while also fighting one another for supremacy. Many worlds were lost by the minute because of incursions caused by the infinite Kangs. Many other worlds did not trigger an incursion, but they were then completely conquered. Not a single universe was safe from Kang... For the multiversal war is a fixed point seemingly destined to repeat itself over and over and over again, and now a large chunk of them saw a greater threat and began working together to ensure their victory.

Here the full origins of Kang is revealed. It shows his struggles and his inevitable rise to power. Will the multiversal war ever be stopped? Or is it destined to repeat itself over and over again?
