Surprise Parties Are The Best Parties

All right, here's my special chapter. I'm turning 20 in TWO DAYS so I wanted to do an imagine for it :) Hope you guys like it!

(Also, in this imagine, I've given Tony Stark a brother. Go with it lol)

When you woke up, you were already smiling. Today was your birthday.

But! It wasn't just any regular birthday, oh no, it was your first birthday with the Avengers.

About seven months ago, your parents kicked you out of the house. You had no where to go and not enough money to get a place, so you called your Uncle Tony on a whim. You'd never met him in person, but he always kept up with sending a card on your birthday and at Christmas.

You thanked all the lucky stars that he picked up, and nearly broke into sobs when he immediately asked where you were so he could come pick you up.

Not "have someone pick you up." No, he was coming to pick you up. And when he did, you couldn't hold your tears in anymore. Considering you'd never met your Uncle Tony in person, you had no idea what to expect from him. You weren't sure he knew what to expect from himself.

He took on the parental role so easily. Since he had his own floor in the Avengers tower, he designated one of the rooms to be your bedroom. It had a gigantic closet and a huge private bathroom, which was probably bigger than your old bedroom.

The next morning, after he had a very heated exchange with your dad/his brother, Tony took you out shopping to buy literally whatever you wanted and needed. This ranged from necessities like bedding for you and toiletries, but also to things like decorations and other fun things.

It was the best way to start this new chapter in your life. Well, more like new book in the series that makes up your life.

Now, several months and holidays later, it was your first birthday with your Uncle Tony. That thought was very exciting.

But then almost immediately after you had that thought, you thought about how it was your first birthday away from your parents. Since you also decided to go no contact with them, it felt even harder.

That's why you were in such a dull mood when you went out into the kitchen. Tony was already there, whipping up some French toast- your favorite breakfast food- and he had an array of toppings for you.

"Morning birthday kiddo! How's it feel to be old?" he asked, still looking at the food he was making.

You shrugged. "Okay, I guess."

Tony turned around and gave you a look. "Hey, that's not how the Most Important Person in the Tower is supposed to act," he said. Tony walked over to you and pulled you into a hug. "What's going on kid?"

You sighed. "It's just... weird celebrating my birthday without my parents. I know they suck, but..."

"But they're still your parents," Tony finished. He pulled away, but kept a hand on your shoulder. "I know it's tough, (Y/n). But you're going to be spending your birthday with people who truly love you and want you here. What your parents did..." He sighed and stopped himself from getting mad again.

You smiled, appreciating what he was getting at. "Thanks Uncle Tony," you said, but there was still an air of sadness surrounding you.

Which meant it was time for Tony to get to work.

He already knew your boyfriend was coming to pick you up to hang out with you until about the middle of the afternoon, so he'd have until then to get everything in place.

Just as you and Tony were finishing up all the French toast he made, the elevator dinged and out stepped your amazing boyfriend.

You first met Peter on accident. He was at the tower to see your uncle, and he was in his Spider-Man suit, so he couldn't really lie and tell you he was just an intern.

After that first meeting, neither of you could stop thinking about the other, so you met up again and talked, getting to know each other. Ever since then, you two have been seeing each other regularly and recently started casually calling each other boyfriend-girlfriend. It was amazing.

"Hey Peter!" You stood up from the barstool you'd been occupying and hurried to land in your boyfriend's arms.

Peter effortlessly caught you and spun you around. "Happy birthday!" he cheered. When you landed back on the ground, Peter planted a kiss on your cheek (his mentor- your uncle- was watching, so that's all he'd do).

"I'm going to go get ready! Give me fifteen minutes, tops!" You hurried away, rushing to get back to your room to finish getting ready.

Tony took his chance. "Hey, so she's been feeling pretty down about this being her first birthday without her parent, so I'm going to get something going with the team while you guys are out," he quickly got out.

When you first moved into the tower, it was weird for the other Avengers also living in the tower. They didn't quite know what to do or how to act around you. Slowly, but surely, you all started to get more comfortable around each other, and now they're like your other aunts and uncles.

Peter nodded along. "Okay, I'll text to let you know when we're about to be done, you let me know if you need more time."

"Sounds good."

They moved on to talk about Spider-Man related things when you came back out. You were wearing some of your favorite jeans with a new top you just got the other day, paired with your converse since you expected to be doing a lot of walking with Peter.

He smiled and pulled you in for a hug when you were close enough. "You ready to head out?" he asked, and you nodded. Then, Peter looked at Tony and they nodded at each other. You didn't realize there was another meaning to it.

The day Peter had planned for you was so cute. It was simple, he just wanted to spend time with you, but it meant everything to you anyway.

You spent forever wandering around Central Park and got some food from a cart you guys found. It was such a nice day out, you thought you could stay there for forever. However, when Peter surprised you with a very generous gift card to one of your favorite places, you couldn't hold back your excitement.

"I didn't know what to get you exactly because I saw a lot of things I thought you might like, so I saved up and got you the chance to get whatever you wanted for free kinda," Peter explained through laughs.

You gave him a huge hug. "Thanks Peter, I really do appreciate it. Plus, we can make a whole thing out of it," you said. You didn't get the stigma around giving someone a gift card as a gift- you loved them!

The two of you spent an hour inside of the store as you showed him all the things you liked and he took pictures of them all so you guys could look over all the options and you could decide.

(What you didn't know, is Peter is a good schemer. Once you picked a couple things out that were covered by the gift card, he sent the rest of the pictures to Tony so he could send Happy out. Peter also included some commentary you gave each thing, so Tony didn't try to buy out the store and just got you a couple things).

For the last hour and a half of you and Peter's day together, you wandered the streets and wandered into a couple other stores to look at things. (Again, without you realizing, Peter would take pictures of things you specifically pointed out and sent them to Tony).

By the time your time together was sort of scheduled to be done, you were kind of tired. "Man, we did a lot and not a lot at the same time," you said as you and Peter walked back through part of Central Park.

Peter looked at you, concerned. "You look like you're about to fall over and take a nap," he joked, and you laughed because he was spot on. "Here, we can sit for a bit and you can take a nap. I'll be awake to keep an eye out."

You smiled at you considerate superhero boyfriend. After giving him a quick kiss, you said, "What would I do without you, Peter Parker?"

He just laughed and the two of you got set up. It didn't take long for you to fall asleep.

Once he realized you were out, Peter sighed in relief. The others weren't ready for you guys to be back yet, they still had set up to do, and there was something about food.

Peter: We're stopping for a nap in Central Park, as in (Y/n)'s taking a nap and I'm staying awake to be lookout.

Tony: Good, great, okay. We'll be good and ready to go within 30 mins which should be the perfect amount of time.

Peter sent a thumbs up back and let himself relax for a second while you slept. He had you on one side, with your head using his shoulder as a pillow. On his other side, he had a couple bags from the things you got.

Most people didn't pay you guys any mind. There were a few other couples walking by who smiled at you two, and then a couple creeps who received some glares from Peter. He usually had a pretty hard time being "scary," but when it came to protecting you, it was much easier.

Some time later, Peter felt you start to move and begin the process of waking up. He checked the time and smiled. Pretty much right on schedule.

You sat up straight and started to stretch. "Hey, how's my sleeping beauty?" Peter teased.

You let out a groan and finished stretching. "Better now. I might actually have enough energy to leave the park."

After another minute of you waking up, you guys went ahead and started your journey back. "I'll let my uncle know we're heading back," you said, pulling out your phone.

The walk was nice, and you two just enjoyed the mid-afternoon weather. Everything was going nicely until you saw a family playing around. Two parents and their little girl. It pulled at your heart.

"Hey, what happened?" Peter asked, noticing the downturn in your mood.

You initially wanted to shake your head and tell him it was nothing, but you also didn't want to lie to the sweetest boy on Earth.

"I just... it's hard to come to terms with the fact that this is my first birthday without my parents. And I know they're horrible people, and I shouldn't feel sad..."

"But it's still sad, because they're your parents. I get it. I don't think there's a lot I can say to make you feel better. I can, however, tell you that it'll get easier with time. Other people will step into the role that your parents failed at and show you how you don't need to be sad over them."

With tears in your eyes, you pulled Peter into a hug. The two of you stopped in your tracks and Peter hugged you back just as tight as you were hugging him.

After a minute, you stepped back and wiped away the few tears that escaped. "Okay, now that we've gotten all emotional, let's head back to the tower."

You and Peter walked hand in hand, laughing and talking all the way back to the tower.

In the elevator, you had a thought. "Hey, I don't know what the plan is for the rest of the day, but if you can do you wanna stay?" you asked Peter.

He smiled, thinking it was kind of cute how you had no idea what you guys were about to walk into. "Sure, I'm sure Mr. Stark won't mind," he said, giving nothing away.

You had no reason to believe he was hiding anything, so even the little signs he was giving meant nothing to you.

When the doors of the elevator opened, the room was pitch black. Your eyebrows drew together in confusion as you looked around.

"What's going on-?"

"SURPRISE!"

You jumped as everyone- literally everyone- came out of their hiding places at the same time as all the lights turned back on.

There were decorations everywhere. Balloons hung from the ceiling along with streamers, there was a balloon arch near a wall with a table full of what you thought were props, and confetti raining down from the sky. And that wasn't even it.

You finally spotted your sweet, amazing Uncle Tony admits it all. He was walking forward to you, so you ran to close the gap and jumped into his arms.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" you said over and over again. Everyone laughed at how excited you were.

After you let go of Tony, you were practically surrounded by your other uncles and aunts as they all wished you happy birthday and gave you hugs.

Tony walked over to Peter, who was just smiling and standing where he was when he first got off the elevator.

"Did she suspect a thing?" Tony asked.

Peter shook his head. "Nope. You guys did good."

Tony wrapped an arm around Peter's shoulders. "We did good. Thanks for helping out, kid."

After everyone got their hugs and emotional things out of the way, it was time to enjoy the party. You went to the photo op area first, and discovered the "props" were the Avengers' weapons and things.

"I call Uncle Steve's shield!" you called, having never had the opportunity to hold it until now.

It was going amazingly. Everyone was having a blast eating all the food that was prepared- it all happened to be your favorite foods of all time, too, which made everything even better. At some point, someone put on your favorite TV show of all time and you sat and enjoyed it with the others.

"Oh come on, you're seriously telling me you've never watched this? I clearly need to do a better job at culturing you," you said to Thor. He was very intrigued by this show, though, and was enjoying it quite a lot.

Tony came over after a bit and paused the show, causing some people to protest. "Now, now, I come bearing good news! It's time for cake and then presents!"

You lit up yet again. The cake you weren't shocked by, but the presents? That was a pleasant surprise.

Tony, Peter, and Natasha helped pass around cake. It was your favorite flavor of all time, (y/f/f), and you were seriously doubting anything could get better than this.

When you were done eating, it was time for presents. Peter helped pass them over to you, where you proceeded to rip them open with excitement.

Each present was amazing, and some even a little familiar... "Peter, were you sneaking around behind my back?" you asked with a teasing tone.

He blushed and awkwardly shrugged. "Maybe... honestly I'm pretty good at it, I feel like I could be a spy."

You laughed and nodded your head to Natasha. "Maybe she'll show you a few tricks," you said.

After you finished opening all the wonderful gifts and properly hugged everyone and thanked them, the party continued on with watching more of the TV show.

You sat between your incredible boyfriend and your amazing uncle. You honestly had no clue what you did to deserve either of them. But you didn't question it, you just loved them for everything they did for you. Like throwing surprise parties.

You thought back to yourself all those months ago, standing on the streets of New York, wondering what you had done to deserve getting kicked out.

That version of you never expected to end up here. If only you could tell her everything would be okay. That you'd have the best family in the world to back you up, no matter what.
