Sister

Sisters

You were a thief. A great one at that. Your entire life you'd been thieving around the busy cities and such, from rich people who had enough money to replace their stolen items. This caught the attention of Thanos when he came to "fix" your home planet. He saw you swiftly stealing some rich people's stuff from around you and then hiding it all in various pockets of your outfit. You were on the side of people who would be killed, and he thought that instead, you should live and be raised with him. He had just gotten another little girl a few days earlier.

"Little girl, come here," he asked as gently as a sociopath could be. Your attention was caught and you trembled slightly, hoping you wouldn't be killed for robbery and stealing and blah blah blah. You shyly walked out of the crowd to the big purple man. He was tall, but so were you. Your kind naturally had a large growth spurt at a young age. Right now, you were 5'6", and would stay that way. Yet he was still a good bit taller than you.

You got the big man, and kept your head down to seem innocent. But Thanos saw through that and lifted your chin up. "I saw you stealing from those people over there," he said. Your eyes widened slightly, but enough for him to notice. "Impressive how they never noticed. I assume you do this a lot?" he asked.

That took you by surprise. You weren't used to this from people. The last person who caught you stealing yelled things that would make anyone blush. This wasn't that. This was...praise. A perfect trap for an unsuspecting child who needs a home.

Finally you responded. "Yes," you stated quietly, but confidently. Thanos took note of that. He held his hand out and you took it. He led you towards his ship and and you gladly got on. It wasn't like you had anything tying you down to that place. If anything, it would be cool and an adventure to go somewhere else.

Thanos led you back to a room that had a bed that actually looked big enough for you too. You also saw a little table next to the bed. You walked over and opened the drawer, finding an array of knives and such.

"Woah," you breathed. Thanos stood at the door, smiling evilly. He would raise you and other children he found to be his minions, and you were falling perfectly into the trap.

"I'm glad you like it, little girl. What is your name?" he asked, not really caring but also wanted to seem like you could trust him.

"(Y/N)."

It' been years since Thanos had taken you from your home planet. Now that you were older and had talked with and got to know Gamora and Nebula, you understood what Thanos was doing on your home planet in the first place. Genocide. Though you weren't too emotionally attached to those people, you still found it upsetting that he would do that sort of thing. And your planet wasn't even the first!

Right now, you were heading to the area of the ship that Thanos called the training room, even though it was used for his entertainment and you three's punishment/torture. Today it was you and Gamora facing off, and though she loved you like a real sister, she was still the best fighter you've ever met. Loser had a piece of themselves turned into machine. Usually Nebula faced off with the green child of Thanos, but she did this morning and at this point was nearly more metal than man.

Thanos and Gamora were already in there when you got there. Both of you were wearing the outfits Thanos had instructed you wear so he can show that you are part of his "children". You stepped into the ring like area, and Gamora joined on the other side. Both of your eyes were filled with a strong emotion; hers with confidence, yours with fear and sorrow. You never wanted to face off against anyone, and this was your second fight. You already won once again Nebula, but only because Thanos helped you cheat. This time, it was his favorites against each other, and he wouldn't do anything about it. Nebula long ago forgave you for that fight, luckily. She was closer to you than Gamora.

"Alright, little ones. Get ready to fight. You should know the prizes by now. Fight!" he yelled out, his deep and loud voice echoing through the room and into your skull, bouncing around in you until you registered the flying green person coming at you.

She had started the fight, no hesitation. She recovered quickly from your dodge and stood up again, this time studying the best path for defeat. You could see her running calculations running through her mind, her eyes darting around trying to find the best way to pin you down without you slipping out of her grasp. That was the only thing you learned from your home that was actually useful to you; being a slippery eel.

Gamora finally made her move, and she came at your feet, and grabbed one ankle with her own, while leaning to the side to grab your other leg and pull both out from under you. This led for you to fall, her right on top of you. She held you down, but you rolled over and got up, doing a back walkover out of the reach of her hands and feet. After nearly a second, Gamora had collected herself and stood up quickly, and decided against calculated attacks. Her body came hurting at you faster than you could understand, but you still managed to duck out of the way and roll forwards a couple times. When you stood back up, Gamora was right behind you and jumped to your back. The sudden amount weight added to you threw you off your feet and you went tumbling to the ground, face first.

You shrieked, since this all went down in about five seconds, and you felt your nose crack when it hit the ground. It was the first thing that would hit the ground, so you weren't all that surprised at it. You were so wrapped up in trying to figure out how this happened, however, to get up and stop Thanos from yelling out,

"Gamora wins! I'm sorry, little girl, but you know what this means..." Thanos said, trailing off. Gamora got off of you and you rolled to your back. There was an extended green hand in your vision, but you completely ignored it and rolled backwards and got to your feet. Your blue hair (a popular trait among your race) was a mess on your head, bits of it getting in your face. Thanos suddenly grabbed your arm and dragged you out of the ring, taking you to the other part of the ship that you despised so deeply. You were so busy trying to get out of the hold, you missed the look of sorrow on the girl you thought you could call your sister.

It had been a few years, and you and Nebula were both mostly metal. It was so painful, but it's not like you were able to stop Thanos from it anyways. He had stopped the fights for a while, making all of you look into the location of the infinity stones. None of you really knew what they were, so you did research and found out the definitive location of some. Earth held one for sure, and that was the scepter Thanos had offered Loki, so he could rule earth. It was also so he could get any other stones on that planet. You heard that the time stone was there as well, but you didn't pass that information to the big purple man you claimed to be your father. What he didn't know wouldn't kill him....and would save millions of others.

Gamora had found out the location of the power stone, and Thanos set all three of you to Ronan the Accuser. He was a Kree, and was looking for the power stone so he could destroy Xandar. You, Gamora, and Nebula were to make sure that once Ronan had his chance at power, that he would hand over the stone.

Gamora had just gone out to get it from someone, and you hadn't gotten word of her coming back, until finally, you got something from Nebula.

"It seems dear sister has been caught and taken to Kyln since she was found fighting a large tree man, a small animal, and another man. He seems to be earthen...strange," she told you. Strange indeed. They must've had possession of the stone, and she was fighting for it. But how did the man get a hold of it.

Nebula got some more information. "The tree is a thing called Groot, the animal is a thing called Rocket, and the human is Peter Quill. He had a big bounty on his head, and the tree and animal engaged, when Gamora intervened. Witness report says they were fighting over a silver orb," Nebula added on to her previous statement. You eyes widened and you stood up from where you were sitting. Nebula followed, and you started walking to Ronan's throne room.

"Where are you going? What happened?" she asked behind you.

"The silver orb must be the housing unit for the power stone! Why else would Gamora go after it. I had found something about how each stone has a sort of housing unit, and the orb must be it for the power stone!" you yelled out as you hurried down the hall. Nebula understood now and hurried after you.

The door to Ronan's little throne room was already open, so you and Nebula calmed you steps and walked inside. Ronan looked as if he had just finished with another victim of his new head-bashing hammer. He looked to the two of you and saw that there was an urgency in your steps, even though they had calmed down.

"What brings you here? News of your sister's whereabouts?" he asked. Both you and Nebula flinched at the word 'sister'. Ronan didn't take notice, of course, and instead just sat on his stone cold throne, waiting.

"We do have news of Gamora's whereabouts. We also know she's-" before Nebula could finish, you cut her off.

"In prison for getting in a street brawl. We just need to borrow a ship to break her out." Nebula looked at you confused, while Ronan looked slightly annoyed. He nodded his head and waved you away.

"Yes, (Y/N), you may go. Nebula, I need you to stay," he commanded. So you left the room and got to a ship, before hurrying off to the Kyln to fetch your "sister".

~~

After forever of going around and trying to find Gamora, you found her on a planet called Knowhere. She was there, presumably with the gang she got into trouble with, as well as one she picked up from the Kyln.

You landed the ship and got out carefully, minding your step and watching for things you could trip or twist your ankle on. The device in your head told you that Gamora was heading for a place with a named simply called "The Collector" where you figured she was pawning off the stone to keep it out of Thanos's reach. That wasn't the best idea, you thought, but it's not like you could sway her mind. But you were going to try anyways.

You hurried over to the location coordinates you saw in the top left corner of your vision and hurried along to try and catch her before she made a terrible mistake. Rounding a corner, you saw the rag-tag group of ex-prisoners along with the green alien everyone insisted on calling your sister. She wasn't and never will be your sister.

"Gamora!" you yelled out, nearing the group. They all stopped at the sound of their team members's name, and turned to face you. You looked human, but the markings on your face and arms told a different story. Even with all the metal parts riddled in your body, they were visible and stood out more than ever. Your hair also lead to this.

The person in question walked towards you and stopped within an arms length of you. She smiled slightly, but it disappeared when the action was returned. "What are you doing here? Under Ronan's order?" she asked, the salt in her voice the most prominent thing out of that phrase.

"Actually," you started, relaxing your stance a bit, putting your weight on you left leg, cocking you left hip out and placing your hands in your vest pockets. "Ronan only knows I went after you. He doesn't know about the stone, or where I tracked you down," you explained as if it were the simplest thing in the galaxy to understand. Over behind Gamora's figure, you saw a man with red markings on him getting very tense once you said 'Ronan'. You quirked an eyebrow.

Gamora relaxed slightly as well. "So how do you know about the stone? And how did you know we were here?" she questions.

You actually chuckled at the silly question. "You should know me better, and how skilled I can be. Especially at being cunning and a slippery eel. We both know you know that part so well," you sneered at her. You saw a couple of her new friends behind her get tense at your actions. They care for her. How...cute.

"Sister-"

"I am not your sister!" you exploded, standing up straight again, hands out of pockets, and your eyes were now solely on her and her alone. "And I advise you get that through your thick skull. Our first fight confirmed that statement. You never acted like a sister to me, and you won't start now. I came here as a civilized equal to tell you that Nebula is still with Ronan and knows as much information as me, and like me, she was always below you. Now please come with me with the stone so we can just go and be safe," you begged at the end. You might hate the woman, but you still grew up with her.

"I will not be going back to that place! This is the way out and I'm taking it!" she yelled back.

"No, that's the way to getting on Ronan and you-know-who's bad sides! Please, just come with me and we can be safe from the power that they hold," you tried again.

Gamora took a powerful step towards you, and was about a foot away from you now. You could feel the anger radiating off of her. "You're an idiot! Thanos will kill us both before you know it, and it seems that your metal head can't get that through into your half synthetic brain!" she yelled right back.

That was a breaking point for you. "AND WHO DID THAT TO ME? WHO'S FAULT WAS IT!? WHO MADE SURE TO WIN EVERY FIGHT JUST SO THEY COULD BE ON HIS GOOD SIDE?!" you screamed into her face. She hesitated before speaking again, and one of the team members you had forgotten about, the earthen one, stepped forwards to grab Gamora's arm.

"We have to get going," he said, calmly and trying to pull her away from the argument. You dried the tears coming from your right eye- your real eye.

"Fine," you said, voice breaking over the word. You sounded pathetic. "Go and get killed. I won't be there beside you as you quiver in front of Thanos for your betrayal. I'll be next to him, saying I told you so." With that last comment you turned on your heel and walked back to your ship.

Gamora watched you with sad eyes as you walked away.
