*May or may not be slightly triggering to some people. I'm sorry if you don't like it, I was just inspired by a dialog prompt. Anyways, enjoy*
Being part of the Avenger meant many different things to you. Facing death almost everyday, being part of a love-hate group, and most importantly, everyone knowing where you lived. When you joined the Avengers before the accords, before their little civil war, you had said you'd stay in your old apartment until you could leave. Your contract was a bit strict. Plus, the apartment was secluded from all the horrors in your life.
Now, you were sitting in the tower, sitting and talking with Wanda.
"So, how have you adjusted here? Well I hope," you asked her. She smiled and laughed a bit.
"Yes, I've adjusted alright. You guys have been very welcoming and comforting. Especially after..." she trailed off. You knew where she was going. You took one hand off your mug of hot chocolate and placed it on top of hers.
"You don't have to talk about him if your not ready. Right now, lets just get to know each other more. Basic things, like favorite things," you suggested. Wanda sniffed and nodded. Then a smiled again.
"Alright, well my favorite color is red," she said.
"Mine is (f/c)."
This went on for about an hour. You and Wanda were still talking when Tony started heading into the room. He could here what you guys were talking about.
"Well, what flower do you like?" Wanda asked you. You simply shrugged. You knew what you hated, but not what you liked. "Roses?" she asked you. Immediately you shook your head.
"I hate roses. I'm allergic," you stated. Wanda was going to say something, when Tony interrupted.
"Pity. They're very romantic," he said simply. You looked over at him and smiled in greeting, Wanda doing the same. "So what were you ladies talking about? Girl stuff?" He asked.
"Just getting to know one another. We were figuring out favorites," you explained. Tony looked puzzled.
"Favorites?"
"You know, favorite color, favorite food, favorite song, things like that," you explained further. He nodded this time, getting what you were implying a second ago. You took a look at your watch and saw that it was 5:51.
"Oh shoot! I gotta go. I don't want to walk. Tony, can you drive me back to my place please?" you asked. He nodded and you got up. Wanda followed in suit.
"Can I come as well? We've spent so much time together today, why not spend more?" she asked.
"Yeah sure kid," Tony said, as he left down to the garage. You on the other hand, were excited she wanted to come with you guys. It meant she was trusting more and more. She followed you down the way that Tony had just disappeared through, and you made it to the garage. Tony got into an Audi R8,and you got into the passenger seat, Wanda going behind you.
The three of you set off for your apartment. The thought of roses started to bring back some memories that you didn't appreciate. But he was long gone, so you were okay. You had moved far far away from Washington state, and had purchased a secluded apartment for a reason.
"Alright, we are here. And it looks like you have a present?" Tony said the last part a bit confused. You were too, so you got out of the car and check out the thing taped to the stairwell leading to your apartment. It was above a bakery, and yo were the only person who lived there.
Wanda and Tony followed you out of the car, and watched as you picked up the little letter. You opened it, and gasped, before dropping it to the ground. There was a drawing of a rose, with a signature at the bottom.
"It's just a card with a picture. Big deal," Tony said as he picked up the discarded drawing. But it was a huge deal. What if he was here? In your apartment? You scrambled up the stairs in a mad dash, Wanda and Tony following behind by a few feet. When you got to the top, your door was partially opened. It was true.
You opened the door to find hundreds and hundreds. Of roses all throughout your apartment. You knew they were from him; he had found you.
"Woah, that's a lot of roses. Aren't you allergic?" Wanda asked. When you didn't reply, she looked at you and saw your eyes wide with panic, your breathing getting faster and more shallow. "(Y/N), what's going on?" she asked. She already knew something was wrong. You didn't reply. Instead, you ran into your apartment and searched everywhere to see if he was still here. Your search, luckily, came out empty.
"How did you find me!" you screamed, before you punched through a wall with your super strength. There was a note on you bed, that definitely confirmed everything else. A simple little not that read:
See you soon darling. I've missed you so much more than you can
even imagine darling.
Carson Perez
You were crying now, the pain from years ago being resurfaced from that note. Wanda and Tony raced into your room to find you leaning your forehead against the wall, you hand in the wall, and a piece of paper being held tightly in your other hand.
"(Y/N), sweetie, what's going on? Why are there hundreds of roses in your apartment when you said you hated them and were allergic. What's happening?" Tony asked you. Wanda leaned down and took the paper out of your hand, read it, then handed it to Tony.
"Who's Carson Perez?" Wanda asked you, her voice soft and gentle.
"Don't say his name! He is a curse to this planet, to me! He's ruined my life and he won't go away," you snapped, turning and facing the confused and now stunned pair. Wanda didn't look into your head for answers, even though she needed to know what the details were, she trusted you to tell her when you were ready to.
"(Y/N), do we need to set you up a room at the tower tonight?" Wanda asked instead. If it was a yes, this guy would be dangerous and possibly coming back. If no, then he was just a quick pop up. But Wanda knew it was the prior option.
You nodded your head vigorously, before hurrying to your closet and grabbing some things for the night. Some clean pajamas, clothes for the next day, your weapons arsenal you had at home, and then your toiletries. You shoved it all into two bags and Tony grabbed one. The three of you hurried out of the apartment. You decided to lock the door, just in case he came to wait for you.
The car ride back to the tower was completely silent. Not even the radio was turned on. The only things anyone could here were the sounds of outside and your heavy breathing. Tony was driving and made sure to only go about five above the speed limit, just so you guys wouldn't get stopped. You were looking paler and paler, so Tony wanted to get you home quick.
On the way back, Wanda insisted you sit in the back with her, so she could comfort you easier than if you were in front of her. Safety laws weren't your top priority, as you were laying down with your head on Wanda's lap. She calmly stroked her fingers through your hair as she tried to get you to relax and trust her and Tony enough to explain the situation.
When you guys stopped and were in the tower parking garage, you were nearly asleep. Then Wanda quietly spoke to you. "We're at the tower," was all she said, and you were up and out. You hurried up to the elevator. Tony and Wanda just barely made it before the door closed.
"(Y/N), do you want to talk about it yet?" Tony asked kindly. He understood how skittish you were at the moment.
"Well, I'll have to at some point. Can we just wait until we're somewhere I can sit down. My knees feel like they're going to buckle soon," you responded. They both nodded and you were all silent the rest of the way up. The elevator finally dinged and you guys made it to the couches. Wanda and Tony were sat next to you, and you got ready to explain.
"So, I used to live in Nevada before New York. While there, I had a boyfriend named-"
"Carson Perez," Wanda finished. You nodded.
"Yeah. He was really sweet and always got me my favorite flower, roses, for any special occasion. Well, one day, about 8 months into dating, he proposed to me. I told him I wasn't ready yet to be married. He acted like everything was okay, but then his anger came out more often. He turned that into physical and mental abuse to me. It got to the point where he'd force me to...do it...about every day. It was exhausting and scarring so I left. I packed all my stuff up one day when he was at work and left. My mother called and said he was infuriated. I moved far away to here to get away. Never did I expect to become an Avenger, or get my name plastered on the news. Every now and then my mom would text or call and say that Carson was pestering them, telling them he missed me and he was sorry. My mom doesn't know where I am, so she couldn't tell Carson. It seems, however, that he found me," you explained.
The explanation brought back past feelings and made you start shaking. "That's why I hate roses."
"I'm so sorry," Tony said, before hugging you. Wanda hugged you as well. The three of you stayed that way until you decided it was time to go to bed. You'd deal with Carson in the morning.
Oh, you definitely would. You just didn't know that he knew exactly where you were now, watching as you got to bed.
