This was requested a long time ago, I just totally forgot so I hope you still remember me! And I hope you enjoy!

2016

It hadn't been easy, but Bucky decided he could trust Steve enough to accept his offer of housing in the Avengers Compound. Then, after a particularly horrid nightmare, he absolutely needed to talk to Steve... and Tony.

"Buck, what's happening? It's three in the morning," Steve said as the former Winter Soldier held onto his arm and dragged him over to where Tony was. Unsurprisingly, he was awake and working away at something in the lab.

The two soldiers burst into the lab, scaring Tony into dropping the tool in his hand. It landed on the metal table with a clang. "What the hell?" he mumbled, a hand over his heart as he took a labored breaths. "You can't just come in here, guns a-blazing whenever you want, Barnes."

"I need to talk to you. Both of you. I... I remembered something." The billionaire looked at the other two and nodded. They moved over to a conference room connected to the lab and closed the door.

Steve and Tony sat immediately, while Bucky hesitated and held a frown on his face. "What's wrong, Buck?" Steve asked quietly. He knew his best friend better than most. He knew something was really eating away at him.

Finally he sat down, a couple chairs away on the same side as Steve. "I had dream, but it wasn't a dream it was me remembering something. I don't... I don't know how to..."

Tony was lost as to why he was needed there. "I'm sorry, what does this have todo with me?" he asked. It was a little less annoyed than how he felt, knowing this was a sensitive situation.

Bucky made eye contact with him. "It has to do with your parents," he whispered. That shut Tony right up. "I... I wanted to tell you both. Because you have a right to know and you..." Bucky trailed off, looking at Steve.

It was the unspoken "she was your girl" that hung in the air for a bit too long.

"So, um, what was the dream- or memory?" Tony asked. He had suspicions, but he needed the confirmation.

He froze up again, because this wasn't something one would just say as if it were a simple "oh, I got milk" kind of thing. It was something that was going to affect a lot.

A second later, Bucky took in a deep breath. "I was sent on a mission on December 16, 1991. To kill (Y/n) and Howard Stark," he started. His voice was quiet, but loud enough for everyone else.

Tony sucked in a breath and felt his hand clench into a fist atop the table. Steve was also reeling from the answer, but kept a tab on Tony to make sure he didn't try to kill Bucky. It was terrible news to receive, Steve understood that, but he wasn't going to let one of his friends kill another.

"I'm sorry," Bucky said, making eye contact with Tony again. The billionaire saw the sorrow in the other's eyes, knew that wasn't a lie, but it still stung greatly. "But..."

Tony nearly shot up from his seat. "What kind of 'but' comes after a statement like that, Barnes?" he nearly yelled. Steve sat up, too, ready to intervene.

"I didn't finish the mission."

Silence. Tony blink several times before responding. "What do you mean 'didn't finish'? Everyone saw the headline that the Starks were dead, leaving behind their son- me. So what the hell are you talking about?"

Bucky took in another break and spoke in a stronger voice. "After I... I went over to (Y/n)'s side of the car. But she started saying things. Things about how she knew me and this wasn't me and I knew her. It freaked me out, so I shot out the security cameras and decided to take her back. See what she was talking about."

"And?" Tony asked. He didn't even realize how hard he was gripping the edge of the table.

"I think she's alive."

The next day, Steve assembled a small team consisting of him, Tony, Bucky, and Natasha. They were going to the place Bucky could remember, to see if (Y/n) was there, if she was still alive. There was an anxious part of Bucky, worried he got Tony's hopes up super high just for them to crash down again. But, at the same time, he deserved to know.

"All right, Tony, you get in there and find her. The rest of us will watch for any other possible threats," Steve ordered. The unspoken part, however, was that Tony needed this moment and the others should leave him to experience it privately. They'd get their chance.

Tony flew into the building, keeping a close eye for who might be there, while following the map FRIDAY had up on his display.

"Should be right..." He turned the corner and there it was. The cryogenic chamber that Bucky had described. And to Tony's relief, it looked to still be in operation and she was still alive.

He took moment, after stepping out of the suit and commanding it to keep watch, to look at his mom. She looked exactly like she did the very last time he saw her. Her hair was grayer, her skin not as smooth as it once was. But she still held the same love he remembered.

In his head, he knew if it weren't for her his father wouldn't have been the greatest. He still wasn't the 'World's Best Dad' by any means, but he could have been much worse.

"Stark, you in?" Steve asked over the comms.

"Yep, figuring out how to get her out now. Will let you know when we're coming out," he responded, then decided to turn off his comms in his ears. FRIDAY was still connected in the suit, so if anything of emergency happened out there she'd know.

"Time to figure out this puppy," Tony mumbled to himself, checking over the buttons. This was old technology, stuff he sort of grew up on but also grew out of. He'd figure it out, though. He's a genius.

Floating. There was no other way to describe how you felt other than floating. You didn't know how long you felt like this, but it had been a while. The last thing that happened to you was fuzzy and only currently existed in blurs.

A feeling. This was new. It was a weird feeling you had never felt before. Almost like coming from the deepest sleep imaginable. Maybe that's what's going on, you fell asleep while driving with Howard and fell into one of those strange dreams.

But you were upright? More feeling came back and you realized you were standing up, only slightly leaned back against something. What was it?

"Mom?" A distant voice, slightly garbled. Oh no, what if you had gotten into an accident? But what kind of injuries have one sleeping upright?

Finally, you regained enough feeling to slowly open your eyes. There were some bright lights, making it harder to keep your eyes open, but you forced them to.

"Mom, you're okay, I'm right here." It was Tony, he was talking to you. What happened?"

"What..." you groaned, and felt a pair of hands help you step down from whatever you were in. It was a huge step, too, and continued to throw you off. "What happened?"

Your hand went to your face as you rubbed away the tired and tried to find the chance to look up and around. When you finally did, you found the person helping you. "T-Tony?" you asked. He looked different. Strange.

"Hey mom," he breathed out, a smile on his face. He pulled you into a hug and you happily wrapped your own arms around him, glad to see he was okay. "This is insane," he whispered, but you caught it.

"What's insane? What's going on?" you asked, the two of you pulling out of the hug. You looked over Tony's features, recognizing the facial hair as something Howard had. He also looked much older than you remembered.

"Well, this is gonna be weird. You wanna do it here or would you like to find somewhere less depressing?" Tony asked.

You shook your head. "Well I'd love to go somewhere else but I'm extremely confused right now, so maybe a quick run down?" You smiled lightly and picked up on the fact that Tony hadn't really let go of you yet. He was holding on, almost for dear life.

"To keep it short, the year is now 2016. You've been in a suspended sleep for twenty five years inside of a Hydra base."

It was silent as you mulled over those words and blinked several times. After clearing your throat, you nodded. "I can see why you wanted to wait until we went somewhere else," you finally said. A light smile was on your face, one that Tony matched.

"Well then, let's get going. That was just the short version, there's a lot more in store to talk about," Tony said, getting back into his armor. Which you stared at completely lost. "A lot more to talk about."

He led you out of the base, ensuring that no one came from any direction to harm you. He sent a quick message to the others, letting them know the two of you were on the way out. Steve and Bucky could feel themselves tensing up, freaking out, for very different reasons. The common factor was that neither had a very good parting with you.

Moments later, Tony led you to the outside where it was significantly brighter than the indoors. You had to shield your face again, so Tony gently grabbed your arm with his metal hand and guided you to the Quinjet.

Once inside, you felt you could remove the hand from your face. You looked up and saw Tony was out of his armor again. Next to him, he was talking to a redhead who definitely looked like a spy. The other two people in the jet completely threw you off.

"Huh," was all you said at the sight of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, two men who supposedly died a while back.

Tony looked over at you then to where you were look and nodded his head in understanding. "Yep, a lot of talking. Luckily we have a pretty long flight so it should give us a good amount of time."

For the flight back to wherever they came from, they explained what had happened. Well, it was mostly Tony and the redhead, Natasha, who spoke. The other two were uncharacteristically quiet and you knew why.

Landing at the facility proved to be another shock considering how amazing it was. Howard would have loved it, you decided, as you walked into the beautiful structure. Rather than taking Tony up on his offer of a grand tour, you needed to talk to Steve and Buck first.

Your boys. At least, who used to be your boys.

"Steve, Buck, can we all talk?" you asked. They both looked alarmed, but nodded their heads and led you to a private room in the Compound.

In the room, there was a long table and a bunch of chairs. A typical meeting or conference room. The boys sat down at the other end of the table across from each other, still in their mission gear. You were still wearing the clothes you had picked that day, just a little dirtier now than when they left your closet.

You opted to stay standing as you talked, pacing the room a bit. "I noticed you two weren't very talkative in catching me up on what's happened since, well, since I was 'frozen' in time by Hydra. Which is understandable, I guess. I figured talking to you two privately would be better than in that plane."

Steve was slumped down in the seat, like a child called to the principal's office. This was never something he thought he'd have to go through. He understood if you screamed at him, threw things at him, even gave him a cold shoulder.

Bucky was freaked on a whole other level. It was his fault that your husband was dead and you had been held by Hydra. He was hoping you'd be angry with him, because it's what he deserved.

"I forgive you. Both of you." They shot right up in their chairs, flustered at this. "I realized too late with you, Steve, that I couldn't use up space in my life to hate you. That I had only wished you were upfront with me. Things change, and while it was upsetting how they changed, I ended up all right. I moved on and had a happy life, something I thank you for. And I was sad at first realizing you never did but maybe you have now?

"And Buck..." The man in question was scared for what you were going to say. Of all the people he hurt as the Winter Soldier, you were the one that hurt him the most. "It's okay. Tony... you weren't in control of yourself. You had no choice to do what you did. And I remember recognizing you and saying those things to you. And part of me wants to say that you recognized me, too, and that's why I wasn't killed."

Tears came to Bucky's eyes. He didn't know what to say. Steve, on the other hand, stood up and faced you. "I'm sorry for what I did. You don't deserve the excuses and I sure as hell don't deserve your forgiveness. But thank you for it, anyway."

You smiled at him and pulled him into a quick hug. "A part of me will always love you, Steve Rogers."

Next, you looked at Bucky who was letting those tears fall. "Come 'ere, Buck," you whispered, and pulled him into a bit of a longer hug- one he desperately needed. "You saved me, whether you want to admit it or not."

You let go of him and then sighed. "I guess we should start thinking up a statement for the press, huh?"

A/n: I was so inspired and pushed to start this! And then I was lost on how to end it so I kind of just did that and hoped it worked out well enough. Again, thanks to the two amazing readers mentioned above! I hope this meets your expectation at the very least :)

I have another imagine lined up for next week, so please stay tuned for that! It's a super fluffy one that I'm in love with so I hope you guys love it, too.

Feel free to comment your thoughts and ideas! I'll do my best to get around to them, but I am back in school (second semester of freshman year at college baby!!!) and all of this was written a month ago, so my free time has disappeared again. But! I'll write it at some point and that's what matters!

I talk too much.
