Christmas Special (2023)
A/n: Merry Christmas!
"Hey, (Y/n)!"
The voice cut through your holiday playlist and the noise of the hallway. You removed your earbuds and turned to see who it was that had called you.
"Oh, sup Parker?" You put the earbuds away and paused the Christmas playlist you had going.
Peter Parker, one of your closest friends at Midtown, came jogging up to where you were standing, by your open locker. "Hey so I was wondering if you're busy tonight?" he asked.
You thought for a second, then shook your head. "Nope. Cassie had a party planned, but her parents found the alcohol she was stashing for it and grounded her, so no more party. What's up?"
A smile appeared on his face. "Awesome- well not for her, but anyway, my internship is throwing a Christmas party tonight and I was wondering if you wanted to come?" he asked.
You smiled and nodded. "Absolutely, yeah. This would be a good time for me to learn about what you actually do. What's the dress code?"
As you went about getting all your things from your locker, Peter checked his phone. "Tonight is... formal dress. Does that work?" he asked, looking up from his phone with worry.
It was an easy yes. "Yeah, I've got my junior prom dress, that should work fine. Plus my sister can help me get all dolled up," you said.
Peter's smile managed to grow. "Awesome, okay, cool. I will come to pick you up around seven? Will that work?"
You nodded once again. "Absolutely, yeah, just text me and I'll head down," you answered, already whipping your phone out to text your sister, (S/n), to see if she could help.
"See you then." You and Peter smiled at each other, then he hurried off. Once you had all of your things, you hurried to get back to your apartment.
Once there, your sister greeted you. "All right, tell me everything while you run around and get on a button-up shirt," she said. You got started, telling her all about how Peter has this internship with Stark Industries and they're throwing a party. He'd be there around seven to pick you up, so you had a few hours to get ready and calm down.
With some leggings and button up on, your sister sat you down and started on your hair. "So, what dress?" she asked.
"Prom dress from last year. Figured it should work," you answered.
She hummed, then after a minute of silence, gave you a look. "Do you think it was a friendly invite, or maybe he meant more...?" she asked.
You blushed deeply. "I'm not going to read too far into it. Plus, I didn't even remember to ask if- if Ned or MJ will be there, and they very well could be."
(S/n) shook her head. "Or... he's taking you as his date to this party. Just keep your options open."
Rolling your eyes, you mumbled a, "Whatever," and queued up some Christmas music to drown out the silence and your sister's prying questions.
She knew good and well that you had a horrible crush on Peter Parker. It was nearly impossible to act normal around him, but you still found a way to manage. It was probably the fear of rejection that forced you to do so. Plus, you weren't 100% sure he and MJ didn't have eyes for each other.
So, you were going to tread lightly. Things could go either way, and you needed to be prepared for the worst.
Once your sister was done with your hair, she moved quickly to your makeup. You wanted something gorgeous to go with the dress, so she did her best. It was a miracle you had a sister in cosmetology school.
Finally, with about an hour before Peter would be there, it was time to get in the dress. It was really a beautiful gown- you had saved up the entire summer before your junior year and the entire school year so you could get the perfect dress.
You never thought you'd wear it again after that night (you were working to save up for a new dress for your senior prom), but luckily you got a perfect, Christmas-y color.
It was an A-line, floor length gown. It was off the shoulder, and the top was corset style that laced up in the back. There was a slit in the skirt, going up to your knee. It was the best kind of skirt, too, that would flare out beautifully whenever you spun.
And the best part? It had pockets, so you didn't have to worry about bringing a clutch.
As your sister helped lace it up in the back, you realized Peter hadn't seen you in it- he wasn't able to come to prom last year. Now you couldn't wait to have a magical moment coming out of your building, and walk down the front steps.
"What shoes and what jewelry?" Your sister's questions broke you from your trance.
"Oh, uh, black heels- the block ones- and the gold jewelry I got from Nan," you said, turning to look at yourself in the mirror. So far, everything looked perfect.
(S/n) handed you the heels in question and you went about putting them on as she went to grab the jewelry your grandma had given you for your birthday. She came back over and handed you the earrings while she put on the necklace. Then, she helped clasp the bracelet around your wrist and you slipped the rings on.
Finally, you were ready. With ten minutes to spare, too.
"You ready?" she asked. You nodded and she spun you around once more, checking that everything looked good. "You know I'm coming down with you to take pictures of the two of you, right?"
Laughing, you nodded. "Don't worry, I figured as much. You're like a mom right before sending her kid to prom," you joked.
A bit later, Peter's text came in: Right out front! :)
You and (S/n) carefully hurried down to the lobby and made your way out the front door.
Peter was standing right outside of the car- which wasn't his aunt's- and his jaw dropped when you came through the front door. It stayed that way as you walked down the steps to get to the sidewalk.
Once you were a foot away from him, words seemed to come back. "Wow, (Y/n), you look... you look amazing," he breathed, another one of his adorable smiles making an appearance.
You smiled back, and did a little twirl. "You think? I figured this would work well for a Christmas party," you said, your natural blush thankfully already hidden by the powder blush on your cheeks.
"Okay, okay, pictures!" (S/n) called from the top of the stairs as she started to make her way down.
You and Peter turned to face her, striking a classic pose: side by side with your arms around each other. That's when you looked over and noticed his tie.
"Hey, wait, your tie matches the dress..." you said, looking from it to your skirt then back up to him.
He looked down at it, too, and then back up to you. "Oh yeah, I uh... I looked at your Instagram to see what color your prom dress was to see if I could match. Luckily I could!" he said.
In that moment, it took everything not to lean just a couple inches forward.
"One more! Look at the camera, big smiles!" your sister called out, and a minute later you and Peter were on the way to the party.
After a weird silence being filled with some quiet Christmas music, you had to ask. "Okay, what's with the fancy-ass car? Not that I don't love this, but I was certainly expecting Aunt May to be picking us up."
"Curtesy of my boss," Peter answered while nodding. "Yeah, he said he didn't want to cause any stress or whatever. Felt weird to say no..."
You laughed. "No, it's cool. And nice of him. Who is your boss?" you then asked, having honestly no details on his internship.
"Uh..." His hesitation threw you. "You'll get to meet him tonight. He's a really nice guy, sometimes he just comes off a bit... rude."
Nodding, you grew even more curious. But, you didn't ask anymore questions, because the car was coming to a stop.
The driver got out first, but Peter got out super fast and held the door open for you. He had an outstretched hand for you, so you took it and got out of the car. Once out, you adjusted your grip to be on the inside of Peter's offered arm.
Then, you looked up at the venue.
It was the freaking Avengers Tower. Your jaw dropped and you thought you were about to fall backwards. "The... the party... it's here? At one of the most iconic buildings in the entire state? Maybe even country?"
You looked at Peter, who was pretty red. "Yeah, you know..."
The two of you went inside, security letting you pass after seeing Peter's face. At this point, you maybe figured you'd be going to one of the lab floors (if that was even a thing) and it would be there. Yeah. For sure.
But the elevator kept going higher.
When it finally stopped, your eyes were wide with the realization that Peter had taken the two of you to the top floor of the Avengers Tower.
"Holy shit, Parker, this is insane," you said as the door opened.
Revealed to you was a glamorous party with many guests, all in their finest for the night. You blended in well, but still got nervous. Without even thinking about it, you squeezed Peter's arm- the one you had been holding onto the entire time.
"Don't worry, it'll be fun. And if you want to leave, I'll take you home, okay?" he said.
You looked up at him, and felt yourself relax a bit. You were with Peter. You were perfectly fine. "Well, I can't leave without you introducing me to your coworkers," you said.
The smile on Peter's face made you completely relax, and the two of you entered the party scene.
It was a slightly awkward beginning, but it smoothed out pretty quickly. Peter introduced you to a lot of people, including Avengers. That totally threw you off. Even more so when Tony freaking Stark came over and pulled Peter into a side hug.
"So, who's your lovely date?" he asked, and attentions were turned to you.
"I'm (Y/n)," you said, putting a hand out. Mr. Stark immediately shook it. "I go to Midtown with Peter. I've never seen where he's done his internship before, so this is definitely quite the introduction."
Mr. Stark smiled, and shared a small look with Peter. "Well, I'm glad you were able to come. You look amazing by the way." His compliment had you blushing brightly.
He left after another couple minutes of small talk, making his host rounds. You pulled Peter aside, seeing your chance. "Your boss is Tony Stark? Dude, we've got to work on your humbleness because I would be wearing t-shirts with 'My Boss Is Tony Stark' written all over."
Peter laughed, and you could see him blushing a bit. "Well, as cool as I'd become, it feels weird to brag about. Plus, I don't want people to become my friend just because I know Mr. Stark. It'd be weird."
You nodded. The two of you then rejoined the party and had fun for another couple hours, getting to know more people.
By the end of the night, you were exhausted and Peter had to practically hold you up as the two of you left. "You all right over there?" Peter asked on the elevator ride with a small laugh.
You chuckled, too. "Just can't wait to sleep. Tonight was great, but also exhausting."
During the ride back to your apartment, Peter helped pull some pins and things from your hair so you could go to sleep that much faster. When it came to a stop, you decided to be bold.
Peter handed you the things from your hair, and you turned to give him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, Peter. This was really fun," you said with a small smile.
He was barely able to stutter out a reply, and was nearly as red as your dress. As you walked back to your apartment, you felt like you had just taken the next biggest step in admitting your feelings to Peter Parker.
The next morning, you woke up to your phone ringing. You turned the ringer on in hopes your alarms would wake you up (they didn't). Luckily, this phone call did.
You barely saw that it was Peter called before you hit 'Answer.' "What's up?" you asked, your voice a bit groggy as you tried to wake up.
"Hey, sorry I didn't mean to wake you up," he immediately said. He's too sweet for his own good.
"No, no, it's cool. I needed to wake up anyway," you replied as you got out of bed and made your way to the bathroom to start your morning routine. "What's up?"
On the other end, Peter cleared his throat. "Well, I was wondering if you had plans today?"
A bright smile grew on your face, and you even found yourself wrapping a strand of hair around your finger. "No, I honestly was ready to lounge around all day. Whatcha got?"
"Well, my, uh, work- well, internship, is having a Christmas sweater party today... I was wondering if you wanted to come with me again? They all really liked you last night and so I thought it would be fun to bring you today if you wanted but you so don't have to if you don't want to-"
"Peter?"
"Yeah?"
"I'll be ready in twenty."
True to your word, twenty minutes later you were dressed in your favorite ugly sweater, a pair of leggings, and some fluffy boots (with your fast washed and teeth brushed of course). Your sister insisted on coming down with you so she could snap a couple more pictures of the two of you.
And like last night, Peter arrived in a very nice car. "Courtesy of Mr. Stark I see?" you said, although you weren't complaining.
Your sister snagged a couple more photos of the two of you before you were off once more. "Back to the tower?" you asked.
Peter nodded. "Yeah. And... well, there are just a couple things I want to tell you before we get there. The first is, well, 'party' maybe was too big of a word... this is gonna be much smaller than last night."
You squinted your eyes at him. "How much smaller?"
"Like only the Avengers and immediate guests."
Suddenly, you felt like your eyes were bugging out of your head, like some Looney Tunes cartoon. "Peter holy shit that's a little more intimate than I expected! Wait." You stopped and looked at him. "Avengers and immediate guests?" How did Peter fall into that?
He was rubbing the back of his neck and finding it very hard to look at you all of a sudden. "Yeah, so, here's the thing... my 'internship' is just a cover..."
You didn't say anything when Peter paused. You could tell this was big and he was freaking out a bit, so you just let him go at his own pace. Honestly, you were theorizing in your head. Was he Tony Stark's son? That was your working theory.
"I'm... Spiderman..."
That wasn't what you anticipated. Your jaw dropped as you replayed everything you knew about Peter Parker. Classes he missed, his weird behavior somedays, other days his antsy behavior... things started to make sense.
"Oh my god, Peter... who- who else knows?"
He started listing them out on his fingers. "Well, there's Ned, my Aunt May, MJ, the Avengers of course, and... well, and now you."
"Why?" Peter looked confused. "I mean, why'd you decide to tell me? It sounds like this is pretty privileged information."
He shrugged. "I just... I felt like you needed to know, I guess? I don't know if that makes any sense, but... yeah..."
Peter was trying really hard to not let you in on the real reason. That he liked you.
Luckily for him, you smiled. "I'm really, really glad you trust me enough to tell me. Thank you."
For a moment, with the way you two were looking at each other, you thought this was the moment. Peter let you in on something super important, now it was your turn. You felt yourself start to lean in, but the jolt of the car stopping stopped you from going further.
"We're here," the driver said, and Peter nodded and mentioned something about 'happy,' although the guy didn't seem to be happy to be there.
Following the same path as last night, you and Peter made it up to the same floor. Only this time, instead of the room being all classy and filled with formally dressed people, it was much homier.
The minimal decorations had been traded out for loads of what looked to be homemade decorations, and you could see the start of a long line of stockings. There was cheery Christmas music playing in the background, too, and the smell of freshly baked cookies.
"Oh wow," you said, mouth watering. "Please tell me that's the smell of real cookies."
"They are!" Out from behind a wall, the Wanda Maximoff appeared. Last night, you two 'met' each other, and she was dressed to the nines. Now, she had her hair tossed up and a fun apron protecting her sweater.
She was holding a plate, too. "They're something I used to make with my parents. Go ahead and try one, but be careful! They're fresh out of the oven," she said, holding the plate out.
Peter grabbed his first, and you followed. "Thanks Wanda," Peter said. "I'm sure these won't last very long once the others start to smell them."
As if planned, you started hearing more voices and people entered the room. Soon, all of the Avengers were right there, all dressed in fun holiday sweaters, all fighting over Wanda's homemade cookies.
You noticed you weren't the only guest, which made you feel better. There was a brunette woman with glasses hanging out with another brunette woman. You noticed Thor hurry back to them with multiple cookies in hand.
You also noticed the famous Pepper Potts. Although, you weren't sure if she counted as a guest.
There were a few other people you didn't recognize there as well, and it made you smile to watch how the Avengers acted when there weren't others around.
It was almost a privilege to be here, and it got you wondering again why Peter invited you. Last night made more sense, because there were a lot of random guests. Today felt... so much more different.
At first, people just stood around, not really knowing what to do. Then, it was Hawkeye- Mr. Barton who pulled out three decks of Uno cards to create the ultimate game of Uno. You and Peter happily joined in, and soon you felt relaxed and normal around these people.
They even acted normal around you, as if they all had known you for forever. It was a weird feeling, but you welcomed it.
Another feeling you welcomed was the closeness to Peter. Sure, you guys had been really good friends for a while- maybe best friends, but that title really went to Ned and MJ. But today was different. Today was closer.
Luckily, you didn't seem to notice the looks the other Avengers were sharing in reference to you and Peter. The kid had maybe mentioned to Tony that he really like this girl (you) and then Tony maybe made sure that Peter would invite you to last night and then again to today's festivities.
Really, they were all matchmakers.
Peter noticed some of the looks and turned red at them, and thanked the heavens that you were so enthralled in the game that you didn't really notice.
He'd have a moment later. He'd make sure of it.
When the game ended, you weren't the winner, but you definitely weren't the biggest loser. That went to Mr. Rogers, who had amassed over 100 cards. It was an impressive feat. Luckily he wasn't a sore loser.
Some snacks and other cookies were made and prepared, and you found a spot at a table with Peter, where you talked to Wanda and Sam (it felt weird calling them by their first names, but they insisted).
"Oh yeah, I'd really love to get into some Artificial Intelligence engineering, it's a growing field," you said. Sam and Wanda were highly impressed.
"Hey, (Y/n)?" You looked up at Peter, missing the shared look between Wanda and Sam. That just made Peter turned redder. "Can I talk to you really quick?"
You nodded and made a quiet humming noise. Peter led you away from where the others were, and made sure you were out of sight. "Everything okay?" you asked, briefly worried you did something wrong.
"Yeah, yeah, I just... I just wanted to talk to you for a second away from a huge crowd," he said, his nerves finally exploding to the surface. "So, anyway, I- uh- I'm really glad you, uh, decided to come last night and tonight..."
You smiled. "Well thank you for inviting me, it's been super fun," you said, trying to calm Peter down.
He smiled, and felt some of the nerves go away. "Well, I may or may not have had an ulterior motive..." Peter took a deep breath and decided to go for it. "I really like you, (Y/n), and I was hoping that showing you this side of my life wouldn't scare you off I guess? And I thought it would be a good way for us to get some us time so I could tell you."
You were stunned, but a happy stunned. At first, Peter looked worried at your lack of response, but then you started smiling. "I really like you, too, Peter. And I'm also really happy we had some... us time," you said with a chuckle.
The two of you were grinning idiots. Peter's eyes flicked down and then back up. You understood. "M-may I...?" he asked in his adorable nervous voice.
Giggling, you nodded and the two of you leaned in, and you had your first kiss with Peter Parker. You were so happy and really in the moment, until a bunch of applause and cheering broke you out of your trance.
Over to the side, the Avengers had moved very quietly to watch what was going to happen. They were all very happy for the two of you, and just laughed at the way you and Peter's faces got as red as Natasha's hair.
Still, you wouldn't change a thing.

A/n: Yes, this is quite long, that's my bad. I just really loved this idea and had to run with the whole thing! Also, nearly all of my Christmas chapters have been Peter Parker related so... why break the tradition lmao.
Hope you guys have a happy holidays! I will be posting again next week, but I'll be on vacation so I've got to get it set up beforehand. Anyway, hopefully you guys like next week's chapter as well!
