Christmas Special (2022)

Holidays had been your thing growing up. Everything from Easter to Fourth of July, you tried to do as much as you could. Your family was somewhat religious, but not very, so that wasn't the central theme to the events. It was a time to be together and celebrate that togetherness.

It lasted while it could, but then you were in an accident that gave you dangerous powers and moved to the Avengers Tower as to not hurt your family. They still loved you and hated that you felt the need to be far away. Of course you didn't want to be that far away from them, you just wanted to keep them safe. And until your powers were either fully subdued or under your complete control, keeping them safe meant staying away.

The Avengers weren't dumb, they noticed your sadness around the holidays. None of them really cared as much because all of their lives had found unique ways to forget about the holidays. Natasha was at the Red Room, Thor didn't know about them at all, Tony never had that loving family to celebrate the holidays with- the list goes on.

But they all had time to notice their newest and second youngest member struggling. Peter brought it up first one day.

"I noticed on (Y/n)'s phone, she had a lot of old pictures of her family celebrating the holidays. I think we should do something for her for Christmas this year, you know?" he mentioned to Tony one afternoon in the lab.

The billionaire nodded, really thinking about it for a second. You always did seem a little sadder around holidays- all of them, really- and figured that was why. "What better holiday than Christmas. All right, I need you to distract (Y/n) tomorrow afternoon while I scheme with the rest of the team, okay? You're gonna be distracting her a bit for a few days so be ready with plans."

Peter smiled and agreed to the plan. He and you weren't the bestest friends in the whole wide world, but you guys had some stuff in common, so he figured he'd make this work. Heck, he could even bring Ned and MJ along so they could have a whole group hang out watching movies or building Legos or something.

The next day, after you finished up some online classes, Peter stopped by your room. "Hey Web-Head, what's up?" you asked, turning around in your desk chair and tossing a stress ball in the air before catching it.

"Hey, if you're all done with your school work for the day, you wanna hang out? Figured you could meet some of my school friends and we could get to know each other better. I mean, we are the two closest in age. Next is Ms. Maximoff who's a bit older," he rambled.

You tossed the ball and thought about the offer. It sounded pretty nice, getting out of the tower. But what about your powers? You decided to voice your concerns out loud. "But what about my powers? I don't know if I'm ready to be outside and around other people..."

Peter shook his head and waved away your concerns. "Don't worry about it. This is sort of a chance for me to test out something I worked on with Mr. Stark in the lab yesterday." He pulled a bracelet out of his pocket and stepped forward to hand it to you.

As you inspected it, he kept explaining. "It's prototype, but it's supposed to be able to subdue your powers enough that you get to control them. Figured it's a good solution while Ms. Maximoff trains you with your powers."

You were stunned, not knowing that Peter had put so much thought into this... for you. It made you smile and you put the bracelet onto your left wrist. "Okay... well, then I guess I'm ready. Where are we going?"

He explained as you stood up and put on a jacket and put your phone in your pocket. His aunt, May, had said they could all go over to their place and have a movie marathon. You both learned a couple months back that you both highly enjoy Star Wars, as did his best friend Ned, so Peter decided that was the plan. May was even set on getting snacks and making dinner if needed.

The two of you left the Tower with waves and walked down to his apartment. "So, Ned is going to be there as is MJ. Do they know about either of us...?" you asked him, kicking a pebble.

"Well, they know about me being Spider-Man, but they don't know anything about you. I just said i was bringing a girl who I knew from the internship so they either think your an Avenger or a lab personnel. It's up to you if you want them to know."

You shrugged. "Why not, might be kinda cool maybe. Plus I need to make sure MJ knows we're not a thing."

Peter went scarlet at the comment and you smirked as you kicked the pebble once again. "I- I, uh, I don't know what y-your talking about," he forced out with a nervous chuckle and rubbed the back of his neck.

With an eye roll, you sighed. "Come on, the way you've talked about her? Even if it's not a lot, I still see the way your eyes light up. I'm observant. Are two an actual item or are you just silently going mad from how much you love her."

"Okay one," he stared, holding out a finger and turning towards you slightly, "love is a pretty strong word to use there. And two... we're not officially together but I do think she likes me. At least that's what Ned tells me but he could just be trying to get me to ask her out."

"You should," you replied, nodding your head and kicking the pebble out into the street on accident. "It's better to know the answer than ponder the question 'what if,' you know? I promise your imagination is harsher to you than your reality."

"Since when did you become so deep and poetic?" he asked as he passed you a differed pebble to kick.

You accepted the rock and said, "I've always enjoyed reading the occasional poem, but I've seen how deeper words stick around in the brains bit longer cause of how poetic they are." You were quiet for a second, then sighed. "Seriously, though. I'll observe a bit tonight to see how she reacts around you, but I can promise it'll be all good things."

Peter smiled. "Thanks," he said quietly. At this point, you two were at the entrance to his building so you had to leave the pebble behind. He led you up to his apartment and when he opened the door, you were greeted with three brand new people who all felt like they were staring at you.

"Hey everyone, this is (Y/n)! She's the girl I know from my internship," he said, shutting the door behind you two. You gave a small smile and wave to them.

"Well, welcome (Y/n)! I'm so glad to have you over! I'm Peter's aunt, May, just finishing up a few snacks in here for your movie marathon," she said. May looked really nice, and you couldn't help but relate her to your own mom. The one you haven't seen in almost a year.

"I'm Ned." You looked over and saw a boy sitting on the couch waving at you. You smiled and waved back. "I'm Peter's best friend from school."

"I'm MJ. Less entitled than Ned but not by much." You looked over to the girl and smiled at her. Yep, you could see why Peter liked her. "Also go to school with them," she added on.

You hoped your mind was playing tricks, but it almost looked like MJ was... jealous? She was definitely eyeing you very suspiciously.

Peter clapped his hands together to break the silence. "Well, we can meet each other while the food finishes then get started on the marathon?" he offered. You nodded and followed him to the living room. He sat on the couch by Ned and closest to MJ, you opted to go for the chair beside Ned.

"So, the Stark internship. What do you do there?" Ned asked, genuinely interested. You looked from him to Peter, then glanced at May. She wasn't being obvious about it, but she was definitely listening a bit as she worked.

You looked back to Peter and hesitated. "Go for it, they all know about me."

This made MJ and Ned looked at you weirdly- MJ was more hostile curious than Ned's fascinated curious. "Well, um, I'm definitely not a lab rat like Peter. I'm there to work on my powers," you said, quiet and hesitant.

The jaws dropped, and you even heard May stutter in her process before she picked right back up and kept going. "What kind of powers?" Ned asked. "I don't think we've heard of you before- no offense."

You shook your head. "I'd hope not, I'm not technically an 'out in public' Avenger. They're more... housing me until I can grow into my powers and gain control and learn more about them," you explained.

The both of them started to relax and you could tell MJ was less tense. The three of you chatted for a bit longer, and you were quietly glad they didn't pry about your powers after you subtly moved over Ned's question. Once all the food was good to go, the movies started. This was the most family experience you had had since leaving home.

Once it was all over, you and Peter walked back to the Tower (you picked up your pebble along the way) and made it just before midnight. You were exhausted and went right to sleep.

A couple days later, the four of you teens hung out again. And then again after that. You noticed Peter was very specific about his timing and grew slightly suspicious when the two of you returned and caught most of the other Avengers in a hushed meeting. They went silent when you walked in, and you only heard the whispers pick back up after you left.

Something was going on, and you were (unknowingly) about to find out.

The next morning, you looked at you phone and noticed it was Christmas Eve. The first without your family by your side. It caused your heart to ache to the point where you weren't sure you could get out of bed.

You're so glad you did. Stepping into the hallway with your pajamas on, you stopped the second you were out the door. "What the..."

The hallway was covered in Christmas decorations. There was garland on the walls, snowflakes and giant ornaments hanging from the ceiling, and the lights had a warmer tone to them. There were even decorations on the doors.

You made your way down the hallway slow, taking everything in as you did so. At the end in the living room/kitchen area, you saw everyone else wearing some of the ugliest and funniest Christmas sweater you had ever seen.

"Surprise!" They all threw their hands up and FRIDAY started to play Christmas music. Tears came to your eyes and you sniffed in an attempt to not cry.

"You guys," you said, voice breaking already. "This is so sweet."

Taking in more of the surroundings, you felt the homey Christmas vibes you had been missing so dearly. A gorgeous tree was in front of the huge windows, obstructing the view of a white New York City. There was a fireplace underneath the TV you had never seen on before, a gentle fire warming the room slightly. There was more garland and more things hanging from the ceiling, as well as stockings hanging from a shelf behind the couch since there was no mantle above the fireplace.

In the kitchen, lights were framing the cabinets and there were Christmas mugs lined up on the counter, along with some stuff to make hot chocolate. On a different part of the counter was a bunch of baking supplies.

Wanda came to your side and gave you a side hug, noticing where your attention was. "We figured baking cookies might be fun today, sound okay?" You nodded and wiped away some rouge tears.

"This is all more than okay, this is amazing you guys. Thank you," you said, your voice quiet and a smile on your face.

"Okay, group hug time!" Tony called out, and everyone came in for a massive group hug that left you laughing in the center.

Everyone separated and you paused. "But wait, I didn't do any Christmas shopping..." you said.

Tony was the one to wave it off. "No worries, no one got anything. This was all kind of last minute, so we figured just doing stuff would be the best for this year and for your first Avengers Christmas."

And that's what you did. Christmas Eve was spent baking and making a lovely dinner you all ate around the dinner table while Christmas songs played in the background. Christmas was marathoning a bunch of classic movies (yes, even Die Hard was on there) and finishing the cookies from yesterday.

Maybe this wasn't as bad as you thought it'd be.

A/n: Okay I wanted to do something that was just kind of cute! I'm really excited for Christmas this year since I've been at college. However, I keep remembering how things are even more different this year since I'm missing out on a lot of the Christmas things I used to do with my family. It's kind of sad, but it's motivating me through the last two weeks of school, so that's cool!

I wanna gauge my readers a bit better, and realized that some of you may not celebrate Christmas! I'd love to hear about some of what y'all celebrate and maybe give my hand at little imagines with those holidays, too. I'm not very familiar with a lot other than a very basic understanding of Hanukkah and having heard of Kwanza before. Other than that, I don't know much but I want to!

Anyway lovelies, I think this is my last imagine for the year, so Happy Holidays and Happy New Years! Trust me, I'm going to do my best to write as much as humanly possible over my winter break so I can have things to post in the new year!

Love you guys so much ❤️
