Mako was, well to put it simply: lonely. Korra and Asami became a thing, which at first surprised the heck out of him, Bolin was dating Chief Beifongs neice, and he pretty much spent his social life with Pabu and Naga.

It was a normal day, and Mako was doing his rounds around the city. Nothing serious happened. Just some thugs, hitting on some girls. Mako saved them like the hero he was and decided to go for a noodles break.

He sat at his regular table, called a waitress, ordered whatever and just sat there thinking of nothing in particular.

He was shocked back to reality by a hot stinging fealing on his chest.

"I'm so sorry sir let me help you. " He looked up to the short dark skinned girl, with bright blue eyes. The heat hardly bothered him, he just nodded and let her waterbend the hot water from his soaked shirt.

"I'll–I'll pay for your meal, " She stammerd, bowing more than once.

"No no, it's ok. It was an accident, " Mako said, standing and wiping his shirt.

"I'm so sorry. " Her voice was as low as her head.

Mako actually found her cute, so he shot her a half smile. "If you feel so bad... You wouldn't mind dinner, would you? " Yeah he was kinda nervous too.

"I—" She lifted her head to peak at Mako. She thought he was handsome. He was fit, tall, clean shaven, and maybe he could even be kind. But she had just met him, how could she just go out with him, for all she knew he could be a psychotic clown killer.

"Hey Mako! " Mako's attention shifted to two men at the door. "Chief's been looking for you. She said just because you may have helped the avatar save the world a couple of times, doesn't mean you can slack off! "

The girl looked up at Mako in surprise. Mako threw her a smirk.

"Tonight at 8? " He prompted.

She, still in a daze, nodded. And turned away.

Mako grinned, tipped his head at the two man and walked out the doors, without his noodles. Chief Beifong was surely going to yell at him, but what could beat a date with a cute lady.

"He ok? " One men asked the other.

"He's a sad man, I'm telling ya, hearts been broken too many times and now he's lost it. " The other replied.

They were idiots. But they weren't wrong.

After being yelled at by Beifong he went home to a have a nice bath.

Bolin came in and started pestering him to attend his pro bending game but he grinned, said he had a date and looked through his closet for something suitable.

When he did come out of his closet, Bolin was gone and Pabu was chewing something on the sofa while the tv blurred black and white movers.

He patted Pabu, grinned and almost danced out the door.

By the time he made it to the noodles place, it was around 5 minutes to eight. He walked in, looking as sharp as ever. Looked here and there. Then his eyes caught to the girl in blue. She wore a simple blue dress, her hair tied back by a flower pin.

She smiled a small sweet smile and nodded. Just to make things clear, she would never have gone out with him, if it weren't for her dad who used the 'he's a customer excuse' on her.

So yeah, they took a table in a corner ordered some noodles and waited.

"So I didn't get your name..?" Mako asked.

The girl, sorta coughed/choked on her water and said, "yu."

"Oh I'm Mako, " Mako said, subtly surprised.

She broke  out into a toothy grin. "My name is Yu. "

Mako grinned in shame, rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry.... Um so where are you from?"

"I grew up, in the northern water tribe and I just recently moved here. " She replied shyly.

"My brother and I visited there once! "

"Yeah when Chief Unalaq, went cookoo and tried to kill the avatar. "

"Yup, good times. " Mako cringed internally at the memories of that time.

Things suddenly got silent and awkward. So Mako being the gentle man he is, asked, " Uh so how long have you been a waitress? "

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise. "As long as I've been in town, my dad gave me the job..."

Mako raised a brow.

"He owns this place...and he's sick and he thinks he's going to die, so I moved here to help him out. "

"Um my parents died, uh they were killed. "

Ahh Mako such a ladies man.

"Here are your noodles, Yu, " A buff guy said, dropping off their noodles, somehow helping the awkwardness. Before he left he said something to Mako, "you take care of my girl, alright, or else..." It was growled more than said.

"He's...? " Mako asked, glancing at his fleeing figure.

"My friend!" Yu answerd immediately, "my dad's frien—our friend. "

"He looks like a good guy. "

"Yeah he is. " Yu smiled nervously. Sometimes, she added in her head.

The noodles soon finish and they decide to go for a walk. And it was a pretty weird walk. Some guys looked at Mako weirdly, then grinned and waved at Yu.

Things were getting very suspicious, But he was blinded by the cute lady in blue.

"You know Yu, tonight was nice and I hope you feel the same, " Mako said, as they sat on the dock.

"Woah look at that fish! " She exclaimed, pointing at dark blue water.

Mako smiled and looked at the water, "It's never been so normal" He sighed.

And then the water before him exploded, and up came a man with water tentacles. And behind them were a bunch of tatooed, bearded men.

"Let her go and we won't hurt you! " The crazy tentacle dude demanded.

"Neev what are you doing?! " Yu exclaimed at the tentacle man.

"I'm saving my little sister, that's what! "

So much for normal, Mako thought.
