~Queue jumper~
Cass tends to Lo'ak and Kiri's injuries while Jake lectures them
"I know buddy, I know it hurts,"
"Jesus, I ask you two to stay responsible and what do you two genius's do?? Go on a saunter and nearly die!"
"Hey, Ranger Rick? Take it down a notch. They're hurt and feel shitty enough as is,"
Cass found that treating injuries in her human form was much easier than her na'vi form. Her smaller fingers could thread the needle into their skin much easier. Or, checking for minute injuries that bigger faces would miss. She rolled her eyes, pressing some ice to Lo'ak and Kiri's queue's as Jake lectured them... again. With a gentle murmur, she guided Neteyam's hovering hands to the base of Kiri's queue where it had swollen a little. She hissed loudly, tail whipping angrily. Neteyam mumbled his apologies. Cass grabbed some healing ointment provided to her by Mo'at and began smearing it onto Lo'ak's queue.
Whoever had grabbed him had really done a job. Both queue's were a bloody mess, swollen to beyond healthy. She could imagine if they were human, it'd be broken, easily. She pressed as gently as she could, desperately trying not to hurt her youngest nephew. He hissed, flinching away. "I know buddy, I know it hurts," She crooned, using her spare arm to squeeze his shoulder. "Jesus, I ask you two to stay responsible and what do you two genius's do?? Go on a saunter and nearly die!" Jake spat, pacing. Cass leaned from around Lo'ak's back, clearing her throat pointedly. "Hey, Ranger Rick? Take it down a notch. They're hurt and feel shitty enough as is," She nodded to both kids, of whom wouldn't meet Jake's eyes.
He huffed a long, angry huff and began pacing again, this time without the lecturing. Even Neteyam was staring at his dad in disdain. Cass shook her head and continued treating their queues. She rubbed some more paste onto Lo'ak's before passing it to her eldest nephew with a soft guide. She tore some fabric from her t-shirt and split it in half; one for her, one for Neteyam. "This is gonna hurt, but bear with me," She said, biting her lip.
She tied the fabric around Lo'ak's queue, wincing when he cried out. She wrapped it around the base, securing the paste and preventing infection. "All done buddy," She rubbed his shoulder and moved to help Neteyam with Kiri. "Ready?" He tied the fabric in a tight bunch, looking away when Kiri cried. She squeezed the girl's hand tightly, rubbing her knee when Neteyam announced he was done. She threw a pointed look at her brother over her shoulder. "Are you guys ok?"
Cass rolled her eyes so hard, she thought they'd disappear into her brain... which apparently her brother didn't have. "We're fine, dad," Kiri said. "Just tired," Lo'ak added. Neither met his stare. She could tell by the look on her older brothers face that it hurt, but oh well. She hauled Lo'ak up as best as she could. "Jake, take him to rest." She commanded, passing him off. She only just came up to Lo'ak's chest, so there was no way in hell that she'd be able to support his weight. Even as her Avatar, he still came up to her ears. Jake fumbled for a split second, but successfully wrapped his arm around his youngest son's shoulder. "I'm gonna go back and sleep. I'll be back tomorrow morning, ok? I'll check the paste as well," She smiled at the two middle kids. They mumbled their acknowledgements, and off she went to sleep.
