Halfbreed
Ashlyn - Alo'lani
Backstory: A year before Neteyam was born, Jake & Neytiri took on a halfling - half-Na'vi, half-human - as their own. She was born to a human man and a water Na'vi by the names John & Meyanah. Meyanah died shortly after Ashlyn was born, surrendering her to her father. John called her Ashlyn in public and Alo'lani (her Na'vi name) in private. While Jake was human, he and John became fast friends: leading to John asking him to take Alo'lani in the event of his death. Alo'lani grew up as a sibling to the Sully children, eventually having her daughter at the age of 16, a year before they fled to the Metkayina clan. We pick up from there.
*Also, the Sully kids are a year older*
Alo'lani - 17
Neteyam - 16, nearly 17.
Kiri - 15
Lo'ak - 14, nearly 15.
Tuk - 9
"You don't look like an Omatikaya," Alo'lani turned to the new voice. "I'm sorry?" She said. Ronal looked her over. "Yet, you don't look like a sky person either. Well... you do, but not in the traditional way we've seen." Alo'lani sighed softly as she followed her daughter with her eyes. "Is she yours? That baby?" Alo'lani nodded, smiling softly. "Yeah. Her father died in one of the many battles that were waged shortly before we fled." Ronal sat quietly down. "She is very beautiful. She does not look like an Omatikaya either," Alo'lani cleared her throat softly. "That may be from me. My mother was a water Na'vi. She used to live in the Tayrangi Clan, on the East Coast." She dipped her foot in the water. "It was my father who was the sky-person."
They sat in silence for a moment: watching as Mey'ania, her daughter, played with the other young children and Sully kids.
"Is her father a sky-person? Or an Omatikaya?" Ronal asked. "He was an Omatikaya. He was a warrior, one of the lead warriors under Jake's command." Alo'lani felt Ronals eyes on her face. "You do not seem too upset by his death. Were you not close?" Alo'lani sighed as she found her gaze on the eldest Sully brothers, swinging Mey'ania around in the air. "I was, for a while. But... whilst he was a great warrior, he was not the best person. That and the fact, just before we left, I found out from his friends that he wanted to be with Kiri instead. So..."
Alo'lani smiled as Mey'ania shrieked with joy: her pale blue form blurring in the sky. "Well, whilst we encourage our females to choose their mates, it is ultimately the male who has the final say. And we, their parents, make sure they do not harm anybody in the decision. So, what he did to you wouldn't have been allowed here. He would have waited until Kiri's coming of age, or until he and another mated of choice, not lack thereof."
The two sat in silence again. "If you do not mind my asking: why were you not raised with the Tayrangi Clan? Why did your mother raise you in the forest?" Alo'lani picked at her bracelet, an heirloom left behind by her mom. "She was disgraced when she fell pregnant with me, a halfbreed. They kicked her out and refused to have her back unless she killed me and my father," Ronal pulled a sour face. "So, she lived with my father in one of the lake areas near the Omatikaya clan until I was born. She attempted to go home but was killed in the attack on our Hometree. My father raised me for a year and a half before he died as well, leaving me in the care of Jake and Neytiri."
Alo'lani waved when Mey'ania shouted for her atop Neteyam's shoulders with Lo'ak chasing her and Tuk. "I can see! Big girl!" She shouted back. Ronal watched with curious eyes. "That would explain why you bonded with a Tulkan and Liui quickly. And are a naturally fast swimmer, much faster than your other clan members. And I suppose your daughter will be too: when she grows old enough to understand breath holding," Alo'lani raised her eyebrows. "I sure hope so. If not, I can always train her."
"Hey! Come annoy your daughter with me! She's being mean!" Alo'lani laughed at the sight of Tuk and Mey'ania sitting on Neteyam's "fallen" form whilst Lo'ak and his crush (so obvious) Tsireya laughed next to them. "If you don't mind, Ronal, I'm going to go and bully the others. It was nice talking to you though," Alo'lani smiled as she stood, making sure her cloth was tightly secured over her areas. Whilst she was half human, half Na'vi, she bore the human privacy areas which made for many uncomfortable discussions in the past.
She smirked down at the 16-year-old on the floor. "You good there, Mr I've-got-this-handeled?" Neteyam rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah. It's not my fault your daughter is half-animal." Alo'lani placed a hand on her heart. "I'm wounded, truly. Just for that: Mey, sick'em,"
She cackled and began gnawing her toothless gums on Neteyam's hand, growling as she did. Alo'lani snorted at the deadpan look sent her way. "You're gonna die for that, you know that? I'm going to come into your shack tonight and drown you," She winked. "Can't drown a water Na'vi, sunshine,"
