You would think an eleven year old veela, although only half, would want to go to Beauxbatons as per their request, but I would rather not go to a school that mainly speaks a language I am not even close to fluent in.

Nicola Black's dirty blonde hair sat on her shoulders with bangs as she made her way through King's Cross with me dragging behind her.

We were meeting up with our family friends, the Weasley's. They were an eccentric family made up of redheads. It's funny to think about with my copper hair. The youngest Weasley, Ginny, and I have been easily confused as sisters in Diagon Alley.

When we reached the arches between platforms 9 and 10, Ron Weasley was running in with a boy with black hair. I couldn't tell much about him, except that he had round, chunky glasses.

As Mum and I ran into the brick, we came to the other side coming face to face with the Hogwarts Express. Right after the shiny steam engine caught my eye, Ron and the boy with black hair caught my eye. After the two boys, Mrs. Weasley caught my eye.

I adjust my baggy overalls that Uncle Moony gave from when he was my age. I wore a short sleeve green t-shirt I found raiding Father's clothes. It was already chilly despite the warm weather that came and went for a singular week. I had my semi circular glasses pushed up my nose as we rushed through the train platform.

"Oh Dear! Avalon! You've gotten so tall! Nicola! My sweet darling. How's everything? Ron made a new friend," Mrs. Weasley looks around before whispering, "It's Harry Potter!"

"Mummy! It's Harry," I whispered excitedly.

"Love, you are going to have to calm down, so you don't scare him off."

"I know, Mummy. Is he as cute as he seems to look?" I ask Mrs. Weasley.

"A very handsome boy," the plump redhead smirks at me, "Now, get on the train before you're too late!"

"Ronnie!" I laugh as the flaming head's haircut whipped my face.

We ran into the compartment of the dark haired boy. I turned my head quickly to the boy I thought was fake.

I always had these strange dreams of throwing stuffed toys in front of a boy with black hair and green eyes. He wouldn't have had glasses since we were only one.

"Anyone sitting there? Everywhere else is full."

That's all I heard Ron say when I got dazed by the boy in front of me. I got freaked out when the twins spoke up behind me.

The twins introduced themselves and Ron before leaving to find Lee Jordan's tarantula. That left me to introduce myself.

"I'm Avalon Black," was all I managed to say.

He must've thought the same as me as he studied my face.

"Harry. Harry Potter," he says, holding his hand out.

When our hands touched, a chill ran down my back. I made eye contact for a second before looking away. I shoved my bag in the overhead storage.

I sat down staring down at my battered Chuck Taylor's. I only got them because I saw them in a muggle basketball game. The shoe laces were starting to fray, which would mean a new Christmas gift would be requested.

"Are you really Harry Potter?" Ron asks.

"Ronnie! Don't be rude!"

"It's fine, really."

"So you have the-" Ron pointed to Harry's forehead.

Harry pulled back the shaggy bangs, showing off the jagged lightning bolt. I felt a tinge of sadness.

"I don't remember it..."

The boys carried on their conversation as I braided a piece of my long, deep strawberry blonde hair.

I heard Ron go on a tangent about how horrible it is to have siblings.

"Ron, one day you will appreciate the fact you have a big family," I retort with a scowl.

Being an only child takes its toll. I can admit I'm spoiled, but that's because there's no one else to spoil. I just wish my father could have been around just a little longer to give me another sibling.

"Well, you have us and the Malfoy's," Ron counters.

"I have a lot of people, but it's not the same. Speaking of Malfoy, I need to catch up with Draco."

I got up and left just as the trolley lady was coming by.

"Look who decided to join the party!" Draco yells among the group he has attracted.

The group consisted of Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Crabbe and Goyle.

"Did you hear Harry Potter's on the train?" I laugh as Blaise pulls me into the seat next to him.

"No way! Thought he died at this point. You know made up a whole story about a boy who lived through the killing spell. That's what my father thought too."

"Your father thinks a lot about things," I laugh, stealing Drooble's from Draco.

"I wouldn't be talking. Where's your father again? Azkaban?" Malfoy scowls.

I scowl and lunge at him, but the force of Blaise and Crabbe pulling me back held me back.

"You don't talk about my father until yours loves you!"

Draco scowled but dropped the subject. I knew it was a sensitive subject, but he would never open up about it.

"Pansy, did you curl your hair? It looks cute!" I say, changing the subject.

"Yeah, and I got bangs," she says playing with them.

"I like them!"

"I think she looks rather ugly," Goyle grunted.

"You obviously haven't looked in the mirror then," I hiss, playing with Pansy's coat.

"Someone's got a crush," Zabini teases.

My face goes red. Because obviously when a girl is affectionate to another, it means they're in love.

"Well, for your information, not that it concerns you, if I were into females, Pansy would definitely be a great contender." The raven-haired girl blushed.

"This is weird! Everyone just shut up," Draco yells annoyed.

I decided to get up and return to the compartment with Harry and Ron. To say the boys decided to buy a lot of candy would be an understatement.

"You two are going to get sick!" I banter at the pair.

I start collecting their trash as they continued talking.

"Ron, you cleaned your nose," I state.

"Yes, some know-it-all girl told me," he hissed. I snort at his tone.

"So what did I miss?"

"Not much, just us talking about the wizarding world."

"It's a lot more fascinating than Ron probably explained. You will learn new things every day."

"I'm hoping to," Harry whispers with a slight smile.

What is it with me and people with black hair?

I sat down with a deep exhale.

"What's up with you?" Ron asks.

"Nothing, just a bicker fest with Draco."

"Not surprised."

"You'll meet Draco soon, Harry, sadly..."

He just shrugged.

"I'm going to change fully. You two can change in here. I'll be back quick though, so be fast."

I strut out with the various braids I put in my hair whipping around. I got to the girls bathroom and ran into a girl with frizzy, brown hair.

"Watch it!" I say, not realizing it was rude.

"Maybe you should watch your mouth," the girl scowled back.

"Avalon Black," I say, holding my hand out.

"Hermione. Hermione Granger," she says squinting at my hand. She eventually takes it.

"Sorry, my temper sometimes gets the best of me."

"Fair enough. Did you hear that Harry Potter is on the train?" she asks.

"Yes, I'm actually friends with Ron. I met up with them earlier."

"Interesting. You aren't apart of his family?"

"Nope, just another red head."

"Well, I'll see you later then!"

The girl walks off in her uniform. I proceed to change my shirt and overalls and throw my robes over.

I walk out and to the compartment with the two childish boys. They were currently fighting about which candy was better.

"Obviously Drooble's!" I interrupt as I walk in.

"No way! Drooble's is nowhere near the top," Ron fights.

"Well I know it's not the Every Flavor Beans!"

"What'd you mean!? The beans are a classic!"

I growl at the boy and sat down next to him.

"I am not going to fight with a child," I grunt.

"We are the same age!"

"That doesn't matter because I'm older!"

"Yeah yeah. 'November 25 is for the Sagittarius!' I've heard it all!" Ron mocks me.

Harry clears his throat. Ron and I look at him and mutter apologies.

I stayed quiet the last bit of the train ride.

We got off the train when I saw the tallest man I have ever seen. My eyes widen although it seems like Harry recognizes him.

"Hagrid," the messy haired boy contently shouts.

"'Arry! Ye made friends aye? Ye can sit with me to get to the castle."

"Brilliant!"

"I'll see you lot later," I say as Pansy grabs my arm.

They wave at me as I get dragged.

"That was Harry Potter?"

"I know. Isn't he cute?"

"I wouldn't say that. Not quite my type."

"And who would be your type? A pureblood with death eater background perhaps?"

"Something like that..."

We get into the first boat we see, Pansy sitting behind me. Once everyone was in a boat, the boats collectively started moving.

"I've seen a lot of magic from my mum, but this is not one."

"Me either."

We sit calmly in anticipation of being a part of Hogwarts in some way shape or form. We arrive at a dock where Hagrid leaves us to get a Professor McGonagall.

"My mother said that although she was a transferred Ravenclaw, she didn't have to put the hat on in front of everyone," I tell Pansy.

"I want Slytherin!" Pansy excitedly shouts.

"I don't care what I get. They all seem to fit me somehow."

"Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."

"Ugh, what is he doing now?" I ask Pansy, watching the blonde be mean to Ron and get turned down, "Don't worry, Draco. Your boyfriend will come around."

"Shut it!"

I roll my eyes as Professor McGonagall leads us to the Great Hall. I started getting nervous realizing how early in the alphabet both of my names are.

"Avalon Black."

I sit on the stool, hat now sitting on my head. I cross my legs under my robes, trying not to become too anxious.

"Have a bit of a temper, eh?" the hat asks.

I thought about it for a second, realizing I do.

"You also seem to excel in most subjects without trying. Best be, Slytherin."

I scrunch my face in confusion, thinking the old hat was wrong. I thought it was describing Ravenclaw after all.

I ran to the table, being the first one to join. I was followed by Pansy, Blaise, and Draco, while Harry, Ron, and Hermione joined Gryffindor. I sigh in disappointment.

"Hi, I'm Theo," an attractive looking boy introduced with a smirk.

"Avalon."

"I don't really know a lot of people. Mind if I join you?"

"No problem."

I make room, moving closer to Pansy.

That had been the last day I spoke to the "Golden Trio" for more than ten minutes. Of course, they tried, but there was always some off putting energy around them. It was almost as if someone told them I hated them back.
