But wait, it can't end like this!
I don't like sad endings, and most of my wonderful readers don't either.
So here is a happy ending.
Impossible, you say? Nothing is impossible in fiction.
Remember that bright pulse of glimmering light? Guess where that came from, or I should say from Whom...
Chill(as) Snow is the evil Snow Queen's daughter from my story 'Winter's Secret Realm.' SURPRISE, it came from her!!
(Just a little back story)
The queen hated her daughter. If the queen couldn't get the Frost King to marry her, she would make him marry her daughter. But it seemed Chillas and Prince Jimin, the Frost King's brother and next in line for the throne, already had tender feelings for each other. That made the Queen angry, and she locked Prince Jimin in a snow globe. Chillas tried to set him free, but her mom caught her and locked her in a snow globe as well.
When everything went down in Snowfall and Frostland, the evil Queen thought to retrieve the Frost King, put him under a spell, and force him to marry her. She took Chillas to use as a pawn in her plans.
But when the Snow Queen arrived where the Frost King should have been, he was already freed and back home in Frostland. The Queen had been blocked from returning to Snowfall by one of her sorcerers who was loyal to the Frost King. So she had to stay where she was.
Years later, the queen's daughter ran away, started life over, and opened a snow lodge. The rest you just read about.
So what about that bright pulse of glimmering light, you ask? Well, it came from Chillas as she fell wrapped in Jonathan's embrace.
He didn't see her glacial blue eyes glow or see the broach her father gave her shimmer to life. Chillas had only inherited her father's eyes, but the broach he had given her was imbued with his power.
One of the things that contributed to his passing was the fact he put his magic into the broach. Chillas didn't have any powers like his other two children because her mother was so evil that the gift couldn't be passed on to her.
He had to send his two children from his first marriage, formed in true love, to safety. He couldn't send the daughter he had with the evil Snow Queen. So he gave her the broach.
So, the light that pulsed outward was a protection ward. No one was killed by the avalanche. They all lived, each in a protective bubble of ice. Lindy and Alex together in a single bubble. Chillas and Jonathan in a single bubble. Everyone else was protected in their own personal bubble of ice.
The rescuers were alerted by their trained dogs that people were still alive. They dug them out of the snow and ice, believing a freak accident of nature saved them. They all claimed it was a miracle anyone was still alive.
Throughout the surrounding villages and towns, theories, tales, and rumors abound about how they survived.

THE END . . . maybe
Final author note: Yes, I linked this story with the first two prompts.
I came up with the idea of continuing my stories from prompt to prompt. After the first prompt, I saw that prompt 2 would work perfectly as a continuation of prompt 1, so I decided to continue the story into prompt 2.
I was going to connect all prompts if I could. I took it as a personal challenge, but for prompt 3, I had doubts and thought maybe it would be too much or what if further prompts couldn't work well together and since I didn't know what they would be, I was afraid to take that chance.
When prompt 4 came out, I couldn't resist continuing the story from prompts 1 & 2. So 'Avalanche' is a continuation of the first two prompts.
I also decided not to release the prompt stories like I was, chapter by chapter, as I wrote them. I missed too many mistakes by being overly excited ROFL. So, sorry but now you have to wait . . . but I hope you find it worth it.
I hope you enjoyed the story. Thanks for reading.
