The cave was dark and eerie except for the fire that was lit inside. Beside the fire sat two people in their youth, cross-legged and deep in meditation. The cool wind whipped through the trees, creaking and groaning like an old rocking chair but though they shivered and their teeth chattered, they did not open their eyes.

"You have done what you ought my children, you may open your eyes," A voice called softly, patting the two who were deep in meditation.

The children, slowly shaken out of their trance opened their eyes and looked at the owner of the voice. It looked as if the darkness of the approaching dusk was suddenly lit by his glowing presence. Tall, fair with an almost European complexion, Maharishi had long flowing black hair and very little facial hair. He looked around sixteen years of age. The well-built unadorned muscular body was bare except for a white loin cloth. He was bare foot, and walked with great grace and dignity.

His large, meditative eyes fell upon them. "Your meditation is fruitful, my children." He said.

"Pardon me Maharishi, but we had only been meditating for a few months. Usually it takes years to accomplish anything let alone gain a boon from Brahma. Forgive me for contradicting you, I am merely curious." One of them spoke up, her voice raspy from being silent too long.

The great sage laughed, his eyes twinkling.

"My child, you were not to meditate and please Lord Brahma. It takes years and you do not have the time nor are you ready for it. I have with me what you seek. I had received it from Bhagwan. However you require a certain meditative power and strength to undergo the journey. You are meant to travel this path however so this is sufficient. May Mahadev bless you both." He said softly.

"Thank you Maharishi." The children got up from their position and bend down to touch his feet. He placed his hands upon their heads and said,"May Mahadev bless you both. You shall undergo your journey and be successful in your endeavor. Have faith."

He then asked them to sit down in front of the holy fire and sat across from them.

"I shall now teach you the mantra required and transfer the power to travel through times to you. You do know the rules. Chant the mantra and follow your schedule. Wake up at the Brahma Muhurta. Practise meditation. You will know when it's the right time. I shall visit and guide you when you need it, I'll know. Stay blessed, my children. Be righteous." He said softly.

He placed his hands on their head and closed his eyes. The siblings felt a peaceful yet strong energy fill their body spreading all over. It hurt everywhere for a bit and they felt overwhelmed. Gradually it reduced but a sharp headache remained.

"It shall take some time. You are still new to this. If it weren't important, you never would have been allowed to complete this this soon." The maharishi said. He then told them the mantra and made them repeat it till they could chant by themselves.

They all sat in front of the holy fire. Maharishi Mahavatar then took out a kamandalu and kept it in front of them.

"Eat." He instructed, gesturing to the chapati and vegetable curry inside. "You haven't eaten for days and at this stage food is a must. After eating go to the river below and drink water. Then you shall meditate."

They nodded at his words and ate the food with him. Before long, they touched his feet again and took his blessings, before he turned around and walked away, going farther and farther until he was no longer visible.

Once they finished drinking water and washing themselves, the siblings once again sat in front of the holy fire but this time they sat comfortably on a mat they had spread.

"So, we finally did it. Did you understand now?" asked Vrihatkhsatra after a long silence.

"I still can't believe I managed to meditate, that too for this long." Hrisha admitted. "I feel at peace now. Hare Krishna." She said.

"I am quite eager to meet him really." Shee added after a pause. Her brother raised an eyebrow at her.

"Krishna I mean." She elaborated.

"The prince of Mathura? I had heard he and his brother had finally saved his parents from his evil uncle. Now after so long that kingdom enjoys peace. It's all Narayan's blessings. There are quite a lot of rumors that he is not a normal prince." replied Vrihatkhsatra.

"I know."

"What?"

"I mean, it certainly is Bhagwan Marayan's blessings."

A comfortable silence once again fell upon them.

"I actually feel at peace now." Hrisha chuckled. "There's a sense of calmness I haven't experienced before. Now I think I'm finally mentally ready to come with you. I suppose the meditation was some sort of a 2-in-1 thing."

Her brother smiled. "Meditation does that to you. It not only gives you peace, or give you what you need but makes you a better person." He said. Hrisha nodded.

"I am quite eager to get us to our kingdom. Matashree and Pitashree would be so delighted. So will the whole kingdom. " The young prince said softly.

Hrisha looked at him. "Do you think they'll accept me as I am? Is the path difficult?" She asked.

"Ofcourse they will. As for the path, no one knows."

"I suppose that's true. Then again whatever comes in the path, Hrishikesh will protect us. Why do we have to worry when he's there? He'll only let whatever is good for us happen."

"Hrishikesh?"

"I meant Narayan." Vrihatkhsatra hummed.

The siblings mentally prepared themselves for the next few days filled with meditation and then the journey ahead. But now they knew, whatever happens, they were ready to face it.
