Chapter 14
Why was Fall entering an alien village? He could get hurt! Twolegs were dangerous!
But Fall flew right over the fence and continued on his way. Autumn flapped her wings and flew up to the fence.
"Fall!"
Fall turned around, dropping the mouse on the black alien ground. "Who's there?"
"It's me! Autumn!"
Fall squinted his eyes in the dark and saw Autumn hovering around the fence. He flew towards her.
"Autumn! What are you doing here?" he said surprised.
"I couldn't sleep and I saw you flying around here. Why are you around the aliens?" Autumn said.
"Aliens? Do you mean the humans?"
Autumn cocked her head. "Humans?"
Fall chuckled. "It's alright. Most humans are asleep now. Although there are a few that hang around late at night, but they're easy to avoid."
"Huh? How do you know so much?"
"Because I live here," Fall said.
Autumn's eyes widened and she flattened her ears. "Why?! It's dangerous!"
"I've always lived here. Born here too."
Fall looked at her, a sparkle in his eyes. "You want me to show you around?"
Autumn perked up her ears. "Really?" But she looked back at the forest hesitantly.
"Okay." Autumn flew over the fence and landed on the ground on the other side. Two tall things were on either side of her. "What are these?" she asked.
"These are walls to buildings," Fall said.
"Buildings," Autumn whispered the word. She then looked at the shiny square like thing looming against a wall. "What's that?"
"That's called a garbage dump. All the humans put their trash in there," Fall said, crinkling his nose. "Come. I want to show you where I live." He started to flap his wings.
"Won't the humans see us I'd we fly around?" Autumn asked.
"They'll just think we're birds. It's fine as long as we fly high enough. Come on!"
Autumn flapped her feathery wings and shot straight up into the air with Fall. She soared above the buildings and looked at everything moving below.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Fall asked, flapping beside her. "That's the city."
Autumn stared in awe. Lights lit up everything and sounds filled her ears.
"Come on!" Fall suddenly dove down. Autumn dove after him, wind blowing her fur back and whistling in her ears.
"Woohoo!" They both yowled. Fall shot back up in the air and circled Autumn. They then flipped and flew around happily. Autumn never felt so alive, even more so then the first time she had ever flown.
The two Atorinas came closer to each other and looked into each other's eyes.
"Watch this!" Autumn stretched her wings out and then wrapped them around Fall, cocooning the two of them. Then they dove down head first.
"What are you doing?" Fall shouted.
"Just watch!"
They were getting closer to the ground when Autumn unwrapped her wings and let the two of them fall with backs to the ground.
"Flap your wings!!" Autumn yowled.
Fall did and together, the two of them flew backwards.
"How cool is this?!" Fall shouted. "I can fly backwards!"
They then turned back over and flew normally. They then flew back up above the city.
"This is amazing!" Autumn said. She looked in his green eyes.
"Let me show you something." Fall flapped his wings and flew towards a building that looked run down and old. Autumn followed.
They landed on the roof. "Where are we?" Autumn asked.
"You'll see." Fall headed towards an open, what looked like, a den.
"This is a doorway. It leads to my den," Fall said as he walked through it.
Autumn followed him down some, what he called "stairs". They came to a small space where a huge soft nest laid and something was draped over the wall. A mouse lay on the nest.
"Welcome to my home," Fall said and plopped down on the nest. "Come and sit with me."
Autumn padded over and laid down on the nest next to Fall. "So, this is where you live?"
Fall looked at his paws. "Yeah. It's not much, but it's home."
"You don't have anyone you live with?"
"My parents abandoned me because of my odd wings. Most Atorinas have wings like you, but mine are-"
"They're beautiful," Autumn said.
Fall looked up at her. "Really?"
"They're the best wings I've ever seen."
Fall leaned in and licked her muzzle. A warm and fuzzy feeling rushed through Autumn. She wanted him to do that again! She licked his muzzle back.
Fall wrapped his tail around her flank and pushed himself closer to Autumn. Autumn rolled over onto her back and purred in delight as that night gave her an experience to remember.
