Chapter 13
"Well you're in an awful delighted mood," Grizelda commented.
Autumn couldn't wipe the smile off her face the whole day. She ate her fish quietly and couldn't stop thinking about Fall.
When she heard Grizelda's comment, she looked up.
"What is with you tonight?" Grizelda asked.
"Um, I-" She didn't know what to say.
"What?" Grizelda urged.
"I caught a big fish today," Autumn lied. "And I was able to help out a starving cat family by giving them the fish."
"Well I'm glad you did a kind thing," Grizelda said, unconvinced.

Fall and Autumn sat in a clearing, watching the moon and stars.
Fall purred with delight as Autumn stroked her tail down Fall's back. Fall did the same to Autumn.
She rested her head against his side and closed her eyes, taking in his sweet scent.
"I will kill you, Autumn," he suddenly said.
"Huh?" Autumn looked up. Fall turned towards her, his eyes glowing yellow and his teeth bared in a menacing smile. "I will kill you!"
He bit her throat as she screamed. She flailed her paws at him, but instead, she was sent into dizzying blackness.

"Autumn!"
Autumn jumped out of her nest, panting. Toko was standing in front of her.
Autumn grabbed him tightly with her claws. "He's gonna kill me!"
"Autumn! Get a grip!" Toko shouted over her wailing.
Autumn loosened her grip and let him go. "Sorry," she said.
"Another nightmare?" he asked.
"Yeah." Autumn looked at her paws. "I'll go take a walk."
Autumn ran out of the den into the moonlit forest. It seemed eerie and mysterious.
She padded towards the river and sat down on the pebbly shore, the stones cold against her fur and skin. Autumn pressed her wings against her back to comfort her. The nightmare scared her. But Fall would never do such a thing. Scarlet probably would, but not Fall.
Autumn picked up the scent of a mouse. She turned her head and saw it scuffling the root of a tree.
She crouched down, ready to pounce, but something beat her to it. A flash of ginger fur shot out from the darkness and killed the mouse with a swipe of its paw.
Autumn pressed closer to the ground, trying not to be seen, but she knew those green eyes and leafy wings anywhere.
Fall picked the mouse up in his jaws, then flapped his wings and flew through the forest. Autumn flapped her wings and followed him through the dark woods.
Fall flew around trees and took a route Autumn didn't know about. She made sure to stay a few yards behind Fall so she wouldn't get caught.
The trees started to thin and Fall flew over something. Autumn landed and looked. It was a thing called a barb wire fence. Grizelda had told her about fences. It meant there were Twoleg aliens around, and Fall just flew into an alien village.
