Chapter 11

"That was really amazing, Autumn!" Toko said.

Everyone was sitting together, eating the freshly caught tuna Grizelda had caught. It was a rare meal, but Autumn deserved it.

Pride rushed through Autumn at all the praise she was getting. "Thank you," she said to Toko.

Ursula took a huge bite of tuna, then said with a mouthful of food, "What was it like up in the air?"

Grizelda nudged her daughter. "Ursula! Don't talk with your mouth full!" she scolded.

Ursula swallowed as Autumn answered, "I felt free. It was beautiful, like nothing I've ever felt before!"

"I wish I could fly," Maverick said.

"I'd be scared to fly," Toko said. "It seems dangerous. I'll pass."

"Don't be ridiculous! Flying looks like so much fun!" Ursula commented.

Autumn ate another bite of tuna, savoring the wonderful taste.

"Well, congratulations to Autumn," Grizelda said. "Cheers!"

"Cheers!"

.............................................................

"Autumn!" a voice whispered.

Autumn stood back in the clearing. it was nighttime again and a storm was brewing. The wind made her fur ripple and autumn leaves flew past her.

But one leaf stood out. It was green, not gold, brown, orange or red like the others. It hung in front of her, as if it were hanging from a string. it seemed to call out to her.

"Autumn!" it said. Autumn was baffled.

It was suddenly swept away with the other leaves, but still called to her. "Autumn!"

She ran after it and ran into the woods. She followed the green leaf never letting it leave her sight.

She ran and ran, but it kept going farther and farther away.

She ran into another clearing, this one was more dark and sinister though. She stopped, letting the green leaf float away.

There was no moon here, no stars. Everything looked dark and black. Autumn heard snarling and she turned around to see to glowing, amber eyes staring at her from the woods.

Something leaped at her. She screamed but before the creature had tackled her, something orange flew in front of her, knocking the creature to the ground.

Autumn looked around, but the two creatures, the one with amber eyes and the orange thing, had suddenly vanished into thin air. She was confused. The green leaf floated in front of her again, only this time, it said, "Beware the dark creature."

The ground opened up below Autumn and she started to fall into a bottomless pit, screaming.
