Fun Heights

Autumn: Jacob, you should get dressed.

His expression changed and then he nodded.

Jacob: Yeah, Yeah.. I um.. I'll see you outside or downstairs.. Okay?

I nodded and went downstairs to wait.

~Jacob~

Damn it, Jacob! I just had to mess things up. I was so close to kissing her and now look at me.. Looking dumb and slightly confused. Why can't she say it back? When I closed the door, I let the back of my head hit it as I slightly slumped down with a sigh. This is going to be a long day.. I chose the black outfit that she chose for me to wear just so that I could be ready for tonight.

Jacob: Alright, Autumn. Let's go.

She put her hands on her hips.

Autumn: Where's the hat I picked out?

Jacob: The hat?

Autumn: I put it on your bed.

Jacob: Oh, Autumn..

I groaned.

Autumn: You either wear it or I'm not going anywhere with you unless you're taking me home.

I sighed.

Jacob: Fine. I'll wear the hat.. But you owe me.

Autumn: That's a good boy.

I grabbed the hat and rushed down the stairs again.

Autumn: Put it on.

Jacob: Autumn..

Stop glared at me with her arms crossed.

Jacob: Fine.. Happy?

She came up to me and help me adjust it. Then she stood back and smiled.

Jacob: Good, then let's go..

We hopped inside my black Lincoln and drove to the park. They were having a festival and I wanted to have the opportunity to make her happy. The first thing I did was buy her some cotton candy and then I. Convinced her to get on a slide with me. You know, the sac race slide. Everyone loves that slide. Then I lead her to some other rides. Finally, we stopped in front of the ferris wheel.

Autumn: No. Jacob, hell no.

Jacob: Oh come on, Autumn. Please?

Autumn: No! I hate being too high off the ground!

Jacob: Why?

Autumn: I have my reasons..

Jacob: Why don't you tell me those reasons?

She sighed.

Autumn: When I was little, my parents took me to an awesome festival downtown that was just like this.. My mom told me to get on the ferris wheel and I was ready. So, when I got on it, the wheel went fast and jerked a lot. I got scared and my mom told me to pull on the wheel. Then my whole carriage began to o rock and I was screaming. I cried and when I got to the ground again, I was shaking so badly that I couldn't focus. Ever since then, I've never been on another ferris wheel or anything else that took me high off the ground..

Wow.. I couldn't believe it.. That one experience ruined everything. So if I were to take her to some place like Cedar Point or Disney World, she wouldn't be able to ride anything..

Jacob: Don't worry Autumn. I'll go with you and I promise that I won't let anything harm you. Okay? This ferris wheel is completely safe and if you want, I'll hold you the whole time.

I made her look at me and she nodded, then quickly shook her head.

Autumn: Yeah.. No! I can't do it.

Jacob: Autumn, listen to me. We'll go up together and I'll be right there with you the whole entire time. Okay?

I slowly began to pull her towards the ferris wheel and I could feel the sweat forming on her hands.

Jacob: Trust me.

I said, looking into her eyes. Once the door closed and we began to move, she started freaking out.

Autumn: Wait! Wait! Why should I trust you? Oh my gosh, if we crash! I swear!

Jacob: Autumn, Autumn.. Autumn.. Look at me. You're going to be okay and if it makes you feel any better, this my first time on one of these..

She stopped.

Autumn: It is?

Jacob: Yes.

I nodded with a smile.

Autumn: Then why are you so calm?

Jacob: Because I don't want to scare you anymore than you already are. Now trust me when I say that I got you.

She slowly looked down from our window and quickly closed her eyes, causing her to go stiff.

Autumn: I swear, if we die..

Jacob: Autumn, we're not going to die.

I lightly chuckled.. At least I hope not.. I thought. I touched her leg and I felt her shaking. Although she was shaking, she was stiff at the same time and I knew just how terrified she was. So, I took this opportunity to get a win-win type of thing. I lightly traced my fingers over her cheek. Her eyes became lock onto me.

Jacob: You're doing fine. It's almost over.

I knew that going over to her side would be almost bad idea, so I just leaned in towards her.

Autumn: Jacob, what are you doing?

Jacob: I have a trick that'll make you calm down and enjoy the ride.

Autumn: How so?

Jacob: You have to lean forward and look at me.

Autumn: Jacob, are you crazy?

Jacob: Just trust me.

She breathed in a lot of air and leaned forward.

Autumn: It's not working!

Jacob: You have to lean closer. The closer you get, the more you'll feel okay..

I was focused. She was right there and then I did it. I put my hands on both sides of her face and kissed her. Her lips were so soft. I missed kissing her lips like this. Pretty soon, the ride was over and she was no longer freaking out. I stopped kissing her just before we got off and all she could was look out the little window. I couldn't tell how she felt from her expression, but I knew that she was avoiding eye contact with me. I kept my eyes on her and she quickly got out. When I grabbed her hand, she looked at our hands and then up at me.

Jacob: It's getting late. I'm going to take you home so that you can change.

Autumn: Change for what?

Jacob: You'll see.. Just wear black.

She sighed and nodded as she looked down again. Surprisingly, I still had a hold of her hand until we got to my Lincoln. My hand felt so cold when she let go of my hand to get in. I just stared at it for at while and then got in.

Jacob: Ready to go?

I smiled over at her. She just nodded as she kept on looking out the window. Did I do something wrong?
