CHAPTER ONE - 🍂 ୧ detentions . . .
& dungbombs ও🦌
AUTUMN RIVERS HAD a very unusual personality. Her odd behaviour was present in all areas of life. Her unique way of thinking and mysterious aura made her a fascination to everyone around her. She never failed to impress and intrigue those who crossed her path. Her behaviour often left others guessing about how her mind worked. Though some may have found her eccentric, she could captivate and enchant those who met her.
However, one thing that stood out from those thoughts was that she was considered an oddball.
Autumn was sorted into Ravenclaw, a house known for its intelligence and wisdom. Members of Ravenclaw are renowned for their intellect, insight, and curiosity. Ravenclaw is also renowned for its tendency towards mystery and quirkiness, which mirror Autumn's own characteristics.
Autumn often explored the castle in unique ways, stumbling upon hidden paths and undiscovered sites. Her thirst for knowledge and inquisitiveness led her to delve into unusual subjects that her friends found odd. It was not uncommon for her to experiment with complex potions and spellcasting techniques, attempting concoctions and methods that others could hardly believe. Additionally, she was well-known for her habit of starting conversations out of the blue with both professors and students alike, leaving them dumbfounded and perplexed.
Despite her keen intellect, Autumn often found herself struggling to complete her projects and tasks. She was prone to beginning several ideas and activities but frequently lost interest and focus in a short time, resulting in numerous unfinished endeavours. This pattern of behaviour was a constant challenge throughout her time at Hogwarts, forcing her to constantly confront and address her inability to see things through.
Fortunately, Autumn's tendency to leave things unfinished was often lessened by the help of her closest friends. They consistently offered support and guidance, which made it easier for her to complete tasks and projects.
Raven, the second member of the trio, was a fellow Ravenclaw student. She was an energetic and extroverted individual with a kind but intimidating side when angry. She would only direct her anger towards those who threatened or gossiped about Autumn, as her eccentric nature made her an easy target.
Lastly, Elliot Winters completed the trio, hailing from Slytherin's house. He was intelligent and independent, choosing Slytherin to carve his path instead of following his family's legacy in Ravenclaw. He was very different from Raven, being reserved, composed, and generally aloof. However, when in the company of Autumn and Raven, he was quite gentle and a little bit daring.
The trio's friendship was a perfect example of the adage "opposites attract." Despite their many differences, they complemented each other flawlessly. Whenever one of them was feeling low, the others would do everything in their power to cheer them up. When boredom struck, they would come up with creative ways to keep themselves entertained, having a mutual understanding and a hoard of inside jokes that never failed to make them laugh. Despite their varied personalities, they had formed an unbreakable bond of friendship.
Their friendship proved to be a constant and unwavering presence throughout their time at Hogwarts. It weathered their minor arguments and disagreements, with them reconciling and moving past any discord. They stood by each other through the highs and lows of life, celebrating victories and providing solace in times of frustration or setbacks. Their support was steadfast and reliable, a source of strength and comfort when needed. As the years passed, their bond only grew stronger and more resilient, proving its ability to withstand the tests of time.
Not only did their friendship provide support and comfort, but it also added a sense of excitement and adventure to their lives. They constantly looked for innovative ways to explore the castle and its surroundings, unearthing hidden areas and venturing into the nearby landscape. They had numerous thrilling experiences together, encountering both threatening and friendly creatures. They tackled many challenges and obstacles along the way, always collaborating to overcome them. It was in their daring escapades that their friendship truly flourished.
...
"Autumn!" Autumn suddenly perked up, hearing her name being called by a cautious voice. It seemed like the voice had been trying to get her attention for quite some time now. Looking around, she attempted to identify the source of the voice.
Raven snapped her fingers in front of Autumn's slightly unfocused eyes, successfully regaining her attention and bringing her back to reality. Autumn's vision became clear, and she turned to see Raven sitting beside her, finally realizing the situation.
"Raven, wha--" Autumn began to speak but was abruptly interrupted by Elliot pulling out a note that was hidden behind his back. The note warned that Professor McGonagall was sending disapproving glances in her direction.
Professor McGonagall looked at Autumn with a stern expression and asked, "Ms. Rivers, do you find my class uninteresting?" Most of the Slytherin and Ravenclaw students struggled to hold back their laughter, clearly enjoying the scene.
"No, Professor," Autumn began, contemplating the transfiguration spell. "I was wondering if it would be possible to" Before she could finish, Raven quickly placed her hand over Autumn's mouth, preventing her from completing her statement, which was about enhancing the spell's capabilities. This was an attempt to stop her from turning people into animals.
"Forgive her, Professor," Raven interjected, as she understood that Autumn understood the lesson completely. It was because of this understanding that Autumn had spaced out once she had grasped the subject matter. As a naturally curious individual, she often explored further knowledge and built upon what she had learned. This, while sometimes beneficial, could also present its own set of challenges, such as in this instance.
Professor McGonagall's tone was firm and uncompromising as she issued her final decision. "Ms. Rivers, I'll see you later in detention."
Elliot secretly looked over his shoulder and failed to suppress a stifled snort in response to Raven's words. His reaction earned him a quick kick to the legs under the desk from Raven, a subtle signal to remain quiet.
It didn't take long for Professor McGonagall to notice the ongoing struggle under the table with their legs. Being all too familiar with the trio's habit of causing disruptions in her classes, she decided to simplify things by turning the detention into a group activity for all three of them. Of course, they weren't as notorious as the four golden boys from her house, but she found it amusing.
"Ms. Summers and Mr. Winters," Professor McGonagall continued, her expression softened with a small smile as she directed her attention to the two teens. Both of them suddenly snapped their heads up, having momentarily lost track of their surroundings.
"Detention for both of you as well," Professor McGonagall added, her smile still in place as she dropped the news.
Autumn hastily turned away, her hand instinctively covering her mouth to suppress an outburst of laughter. She was on the verge of letting out an uncontrollable snort but was just able to contain herself in time.
Her two best friends exchanged sharp glares with her, but she responded with a wide, innocent grin.
...
Raven and Autumn bid farewell to Elliot as the class ended. Since their next lesson was Charm, which was shared with the Gryffindors, they would be heading in different directions.
While Raven continued to grumble, her tone was lighthearted. "I swear, our housemates probably loathe us by now," she declared, acknowledging that they did frequently receive detention, but they counted their blessings for never having lost any points for their house.
Autumn chuckled softly, nodding in agreement. "We should count ourselves lucky it was Minnie this time," she admitted, thankful it wasn't a harsher form of punishment.
"Agreed. I have no desire to spend my entire Friday evening in detention either," Raven chuckled, linking their arms together in a playful manner. "Anyways, would you be willing to assist me with my essay later?" she asked, her eyes holding a hopeful glimmer.
"And I'm the one who got called out by Minnie?" Autumn replied with a playful expression on her face, subtly hinting that Raven had been distracted in class as well. Raven chuckled in response, and together they continued walking towards their next class - Charms. They were so caught up in their conversation that they didn't notice the danger ahead, blissfully unaware of the potential hazards around them.
Raven glanced around the hall, noticing the unusual emptiness. The absence of people was an anomaly, but she refrained from mentioning it, deciding to keep her observation to herself.
Out of nowhere, a thunderous explosion echoed from behind them, followed by an offensive stench that filled the air. The girls were startled and cried out, and Autumn quickly covered her nose with her hands, attempting to shield herself from the nauseating odour.
Raven felt a wave of nausea wash over her, her gag reflex kicking in as the repugnant stench overwhelmed her. Her mouth felt paralyzed, making it impossible to breathe. On the verge of passing out, Autumn reacted quickly, swiftly waving her wand, and casting a spell to help alleviate the overpowering stench. The magic stink bomb still clung to the air, but its overpowering scent had been lessened.
"Bloody hell," Raven grumbled under her breath as she sniffed at her clothes. The odour still lingered on her robes, but it was significantly milder now, thanks to Autumn's efforts.
Autumn heard the snickering behind her and spun around to find none other than James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew - the notorious golden boys of Gryffindor. She instantly recognized the culprits behind the prank.
"Raven, what do you think about hunting after some lions?" Raven's gaze followed Autumn's lead, and a dangerous grin crept across her face as she set her sights on the four Gry
"Oh, we're definitely going to make them regret messing with us. They'll be begging us to take back everything they've done." Raven's voice was laced with a sinister undertone as she observed the four rowdy Gryffindor boys high-five each other. They were blissfully unaware of the vengeful thoughts circulating in the minds of the two Ravenclaw girls.
The duo quietly strategized and planned as they watched the four Gryffindor boys from their house boasting about their mischievous stunt, their faces alive with wicked satisfaction. They quietly devised a cunning scheme of vengeance, one that was carefully thought out, and calculated, and would leave the four Gryffindor boys in utter shock and disbelief. They would rue the day they played their cruel prank on them because the two Ravenclaws were not ones to be trifled with.
