⛧ Days Gone Bye - The Beginning ⛧

⚠️ Trigger Warning ⚠️

This chapter contains foul language, fighting, blood, and normal Walking dead crap. This is the only warning you'll get for this book unless it's something major. I only say that because TWD is super gory so I would be putting trigger warnings on every chapter.

Anyways read at your own discretion.

Season 1 - Episode 1
Season 1 - Episode 2

Sloane POV

"Nothing shall part us in our love till Thanatos, at his appointed hour, removes us from the light of day and each other."

The sound of nature surrounds me: birds chirping, leaves rustling in the wind, and the light bickering of my children. Gods, do they think they're being quiet? I swivel around and narrow my eyes. "What have I told you two?" Blake looks up at me with his deep black eyes, and I can already tell he's going to come up with some shit excuse. I put my hand up, stopping him. "I need you two to be quiet while we are out, okay? I get it, my loves, I truly do. But you're both old enough to understand life and death. You keep it up, and we're all dead." I sigh and run a hand through my inky-black hair. "Dead like Daddy," Blair mumbles, cuddling into my side with a soft sigh. A pain hits my heart, but I stuff it down quickly. "I'm sorry, Momma, it's just so hot and I'm starving. I'd kill for some waffles right now," Blake nods in agreement with his sister. "Oh, the blueberry ones you used to make every Sunday were the best. I miss those," Blake whines. Sasha snickers behind me. "I miss your Mom's cooking too."

A twig snaps to our left, and I react immediately, pushing the kids and Sasha behind me, then whipping my scythe out. I feel my magic connect with it immediately, and it hums in anticipation. The kids pull out their magic, Vibranium-studded bats, and get in defense mode as Sasha conjures up her trident. I let out a sigh of relief when I see a tuft of black hair and then my idiot brother walking out with his hands up. "Easy, mama bear! It's just me. I just finished scouting ahead," he says with a smile. I shake my head and place my scythe back into its sheath on my back. I turn back to my brother and study his face. His eyes are shining with pure bliss, and he has a massive grin on his face. "I have news," he grins at us, and I get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

He clears his throat, gently grabbing my arm before pulling both Sasha and I closer. His voice drops into a whisper, "I found others, but..." he stops and takes a deep breath. "Now I need you to be calm, okay?" My mind races with possibilities as I narrow my eyes at my brother. "That's a bit of an unfair question. How am I supposed to stay calm when I have major anxiety?" He scoffs and glares at me. "Sloane, I'm serious. This could cause a magic surge if you don't keep calm and with the kids..." he trails off and looks over to my twins. Blake, my firstborn, and Blair, his twin, younger by thirty minutes. And he never lets her forget it. Blake has dark, black hair that matches his eyes, a tall, lanky-like figure, and only speaks sarcasm. Blair has long, chocolate-black hair and vivid green eyes. She's a lot smaller in stature compared to her twin, but she makes up for it with her attitude. They both have wavy hair and fair skin, matching my own. They are the perfect combination of their father and me.

The pain that always comes when I think of him takes over my chest and settles like a weight. I sigh and take a deep breath before signaling him to continue. He wraps his arm around my shoulders as Sasha leans in closer, and he drops his voice even lower. "Lori and Carl are there." My chest burns, and my stomach fills with dread. My face darkens, and I scowl at Shane. "Why are you telling me this?" He pats my shoulder with a wide smile. "I found two of my soulmates at the camp! Can we please stay there?" He asks in a pleading tone. I shove him away angrily and feel my magic swirling around me. I take in a deep breath, steadying my powers. Images dance across my eyes of Rick, Shane, Osiris, and I growing up together. Rick. Osiris. A flash of pain hits my heart, and I stuff the memories away again. I wipe away a stray tear and shake my head no.

I motion towards the kids, and they immediately are by my side. Straightening my back and removing all emotions, I turn to Shane. Sasha slips behind me with the kids, picking her side, and I send Shane a sad smile. This isn't going to end well. "Hel, you deserve all the love in the world, so I think you should join the camp. But we," gesturing to the twins and Sasha, "are going to keep traveling, maybe find another group. Because we deserve a place to call home too. And I can't live with the woman that stole my soulmate." His joyful face falls into a sorrowful one, making my heart hurt. Sasha pipes up, "Yeah, she tortured us for years, Hel. What did you expect?"

His face draws into a frown. "W-what?" He asks, stepping back, as if I've hit him. I step forward and place my hand on his shoulder. "Look, I'm not going to make you choose between your family and your soulmate. That isn't fair, but it also isn't fair to ask me to stay at a camp where one of my soulmate's wife and child are living at too! She ruined my life, Shane. She's not a good person, and I don't want to ever see her again." Shane rips his arm away from me in anger, and I snap my fingers twice, signaling for the kids to back away.

Sasha grabs the twins and steps away, shielding them with an invisible bubble of magic. Shane's face turns a dark red, and he stomps towards me. I flick my wrist, putting up a shield around us so his screams don't alert the dead. "Sel, what is wrong with you?! You really can't do just this one thing for me? I mean, you have already met two of yours!" I wince at his accusations, as the deep wound in my chest reopens and fills my whole body with sorrow. "Why can't you stay by me like I did you? You- you're just so incredibly selfish!" He's in my face now, breathing hard with tears in his eyes.

I shake my head and gently push him back. "That's not fair! You can't throw that in my face, especially since it was before the world went to hell." I yell back, fire engulfing my hands and my eyes burning with magic. "You know more than anyone how fucking hard this has been for me! For gods sake, Shane, I lost my first soulmate to a one-night stand! Then when I get a sliver of hope, it's taken from me. Osiris is dead, my soulmate is dead, Shane. And I'm left here, trying to raise our children and survive this gods forsaken planet." I scream, as my magic builds inside me. Pain engulfs my heart as tears pour down my face, and I try to push back the deep ache of loss that tries to swallow me whole.

The anger on his face dissipates quickly, and he reaches out to touch me. I step back with a glare, as my eyes burn with tears. "Os-" I cut him off, "no! You don't get to say his name!" At this point, tears flow freely down my face, and black shadows swirl around me. "You don't get it, do you? To have your heart ripped out and stomped on. To physically feel your heart break into a million pieces? Like my chest has caved in, and I'm just walking around in a shell!" My voice cracking a bit before I meet his eyes.

"And when I think about it too much, it feels as if I'm drowning. My chest closes in on itself and slowly swallows me whole. It's an ache that's so deep in my bones that I'm afraid it'll never heal." I whisper, frantically wiping the salty tears from my face. My hands shake as I glare at my brother, and my magic slowly dissipates. "You'll never get it, Shane, not until you lose a part of your soul. Not until you endure the cries of your children as they cool out for their father, who will never come back and the gut-wrenching feeling of being all alone, knowing a piece of me is gone. You will never understand the pain of living when all you want to do is die." I snarl, causing him to look down in guilt.

Tears slowly roll down his tan cheeks, and guilt eats at my chest. Damn it. I take a deep breath, hearing the twins start to sob behind us, and I can practically feel the sorrow in their cries. I drop my voice low. "You know why I keep going? Family. You, Sasha, and the kids. So don't tell me I'm selfish, Shane. I've sacrificed more than you'll ever know." I walk away, gently grabbing the kids and Sasha's hands. "Let's go, loves." They look back at their uncle a few times, but he doesn't move an inch. Sasha pulls them along with me and waves goodbye to our brother. Blair grips my right hand tightly, little sniffles coming from her every once in a while. Blake refuses to hold my hand and mumbles under his breath while periodically checking on his sister. Once I'm far enough away, I stop and let go of Blair's hand. I sigh and run my hand over my face. "Do y'all want to talk about what just happened? I know we've talked about your daddy before, but... it's been a while."

Blake glares down at his feet, shaking his head and holding back tears again. Blair side hugs her brother and looks up to me with her big green eyes. "Momma, didn't Daddy always say not to split up?" I smile down at her and tuck a piece of hair behind her ear. "You're right, baby, but this is a different situation." Blake stomps his foot and looks up at me with a red, teary face. "Mom! We can't just leave him! He didn't— I just-" tears pour down his face, and he frantically wipes them away. I pull him into a hug, along with Blair, and just hold them as they both cry. Sasha joins the hug, wiping the twins' tears away. After a few minutes, they calm down again, and I release them both. Blake sniffles and looks up to me again. "Momma, I'm sorry, but can we please go with Uncle Hel? We... we already lost Dad. I don't want to lose anyone else, and Uncle Hel needs us; he's kinda hopeless."

Sasha snorts as I cover my own laughter, and I shake my head, yes, not even thinking twice about it. I'd sacrifice anything for them. Maybe the camp is big enough to just ignore Lori. I look over to Sasha, and she shrugs her shoulders. "I can always whoop her ass again for you." I shake my head and let out a belly laugh as the twins run ahead of us, towards where Shane was. We find him quickly; he's still sitting on the ground like we left him, but he's crying. Oh, Hel. The kids look at me, silently asking if they can run to him. I nod yes and watch as they tackle him to the ground. "Woah, woah! Where did you two monkeys come from? If you left your mama, she's going to beat y'all's asses... and then mine," Shane mumbles with wide eyes.

I let out a chuckle and raise a brow. "You really think they'd be able to get away from me and Sasha?" His head snaps my way, and a big smile forms on his face. "Does this mean y'all are staying at camp?" I sigh and reluctantly shake my head, yes. He jumps up, picking Blair up and twirling her around as Blake lets out a wolf howl. Shane then turns to Sasha and I with a mischievous smile. "I don't know what you're thinking, but no-" I'm cut off as Shane picks both Sasha and I up, throwing us over his shoulders.

I slap his back as he starts walking with the kids trailing him, giggling. "You giant donkey, let me down!" He snorts and shakes his head. "no can do. I'm afraid y'all will run if I set you down. Plus, you can watch the back this way! You too, pipsqueak!" Sasha glares at his back at the nickname and looks to me. I nod my head at his sides, and she sends me a mischievous smile. We both lean over to pinch his side, making him squeal like a pig and drop us both. Using my powers, I land on my feet and grin at him. Sasha's pink magic still swirls as she gently floats to the ground. The twins both smile at the swirls of purple and pink fusing together before both trying to use their own magic. Unfortunately, they haven't tapped into it yet. It usually happens around 16, so they still have a year, but who knows.

"So, how many people are at camp?" I ask Shane. The kids come up beside me, Blake on my left and Blair on my right in between Sasha and I. Shane smiles down at them and holds Blake's hand while Sasha grabs Blair's. "Well, I didn't see them all, but about thirty or so? There are also a couple of kids too. Although there are only three or four around y'all's age" Shane points at Blake and Blair. The twins' eyes light up at the mention of potential friends and my heart warms a bit. I look over to Sasha, and she gives me a sympathetic smile. "Maybe you won't even run into Lori." I shake my head with a humorless laugh. "We both know my luck ain't that good."

Twenty minutes later, we finally arrive at the camp. Shane and the kids are bouncing with excitement as I wring my hands nervously. Sasha lightly grips my hand, sending calming magic into me, as we approach the camp and I try to keep my anxiety down. He never did mention if Rick was here. As we approach, a beautiful blonde woman comes running towards us. The kids stop, flanking to my side as Shane runs towards her. She jumps into his arms, and he spins her around before placing a kiss on her forehead. His soulmate. Now, where's the other one? "Wow, she's gorgeous," I mumble, and Sasha nods her head in agreement.

I pull the kids with me and approach the smiling blonde. "Hi, I'm Sloane, the middle sibling and this is Sasha our baby sister. And these are my twins, Blake and Blair." I put out my hand to shake hers, but she pulls me into a hug. My nose scrunches up, and Shane quickly pulls her away. "She's not a hugger, babe," he tells her quietly. "Oh, I'm sorry! I just-" I cut her off with a wave of my hand. "It's cool. You didn't know, but just a heads up, my kids are the same way as me. Though Sasha is totally a hugger," I say, pushing a glaring Sasha towards the blonde.

Sasha flips me the bird as she hugs the blonde, and Shane shoots me a glare. The blonde lets go of Sasha and smiles my way. "I can already tell we're going to be good friends. My younger sister, Amy, is the same way, but she's a little more... vocal. I'm Andrea, by the way," she says, pointing out the small blonde who waves our way before flipping off the redhead who sits beside her, and they break into a fit of giggles. I try to hold back my laughter but the site reminds me so much of Sasha and I, that I can't. Until I notice both Blake and Blair staring in their direction, with awe and a bit of excitement. Andrea thrusts her hand out for a handshake, and I grab her hand. "I think we're going to be great friends." Sasha nods her head in agreement, as Shane pales a bit and shakes his head no. "I can already tell this isn't going to end well for me," he mutters. "Oh bubs, for once you're right" I taunt Shane with a smirk and Sasha high-fives me.

We both chuckle at him as other people start to approach us. Unfortunately, one of them is Lori Grimes. My face falls into a deep frown, and my lip curls up in disgust. Shane subtly slips in between us, almost as if he's protecting her. She meets my glare and flinches back, grabbing onto a boy beside her. He has her same brown hair and green eyes. Carl, I'm assuming. Weird, Carl looks nothing like Rick. She's standing dangerously close to Logan Hart, her twin brother. I wonder if the group knows he's her twin? He winds his arm around her waist, and I snarl my nose at them, Shane doing the same, as Sasha dramatically pretends to puke. Or do they think they're together? Sasha nods her head at them and shoots me a 'what the fuck' look. I shrug my shoulders as Andrea's little sister, the redhead with her, a blonde boy, a brunette boy, and a woman with grey-brown hair approaches us, stopping beside Lori. Blake and Blair nudge each other and nod towards the four other kids.

A couple of others stand around us, each with varying stares. One of them, a shaggy-haired male, lifts his crossbow at us, and I react immediately. I grab the closest thing, my colt, and point it at the man. The crowd around us jumps back, staying out of the sight of my gun. "If you shoot anywhere near my kids, I'll blow your goddamn brains out!" I snarl, making the man immediately put his crossbow down with his hands up. Blake and Blair jump behind me as Sasha holds her sword tightly in her hand. "Fucking idiot," I mumble. Lori and the grey-haired woman eye me warily, pushing their kids behind them as Logan puffs his chest out and then steps in front of the two women. Shane sends him a nasty glare, and I nod to Sasha, who gives me the same knowing look. Is Lori Shane's other soulmate?

I put my gun back in its holster as the kids approach my sides, and I wrap my arms around them protectively. Andrea breaks the tense silence with a giggle "man, I've never seen Daryl listen to anyone other than Stella!" She holds her stomach as she laughs, and soon the others join as I just stare at the group. Sasha whispers, "What the fuck just happened?" I shrug my shoulders "I have no fucking clue." Blake chuckles and opens his mouth, but I narrow my eyes at him: "if the next word out of your mouth includes the word fuck, you better reconsider it." Blake immediately snaps his mouth shut as Blair snickers at him. Daryl narrows his eyes and stomps towards us. He stops in front of me with a scowl and meets my eyes. My own eyes widen, and my heart rate picks up. Oh shit. His frown turns into a small grin as he mimics my own thoughts: "Oh shit." My soulmate.

My chest fills with warmth but also swims with guilt, pulling me down into an abyss of emotions. I can't accept him, not yet. Not until he knows the baggage I carry with me. He clears his throat and nods at me "I'm Daryl Dixon, sorry about that. Just gotta keep camp safe." I push my emotions down and throw my hand out to him "Nice to meet you, I'm Sloane Walsh." He gently grabs my hand, as if he might break it, and shakes it. I clear my throat, taking my hand back and hiding my red cheeks. I nod to Shane, Sasha, and the kids "that's my elder brother Shane, younger sister Sasha, and my twins Blake and Blair." He nods, but I notice his eyes are on my wedding ring. The one I can't bear to take off. Because if I do, it's admitting that Osiris is truly gone.

I drop my voice low and get a bit closer. "I have met some of our other soulmates... but I only married the one. And it's uh- a long story." He visibly relaxes, and a small grin appears on his face. "Well, I have also met another one of our mates. She stays at this camp too with her twin boys." He mumbles, nodding his head to the blonde and brown-haired boys from earlier. "Seems like a long conversation. We can uh talk about it later if you'd like?" I ask as he scratches the back of his neck and his cheeks turn pink. I smile as he nods his head in agreement "Yeah, that sounds good. Stella will be back by then too."

He walks over to Shane and holds his hand out. Shane smiles and takes his hand before they start a quiet conversation. Thank gods. Blake tugs on my arm, making me look at him. "Momma, can we go introduce ourselves to the other kids?" I look at Blair, and she's giving me the same puppy-dog eyes as her brother. I let out a sigh and nod yes. "But! You have to take your bats, just in case, okay?" They look at each other with wide smiles and nod their heads vehemently. They pull their bats from, well, who knows where? And each gives me a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, Momma," Blair says. "Yeah, thanks, Mom," Blake chimes out before sprinting off, watching after his sister. I shake my head at them but smile. They finally get to be kids.

A throat clears behind me, and I turn around, meeting the eyes of Lori. I shake my head no and attempt to walk off. A sweaty hand clamps down on my forearm, and I yank it off quickly, making her yelp in surprise. "Don't you ever touch me again, Lori. I don't want to even look at you, let alone have you touch or even speak to me. I don't care if we're at the same camp. I don't want you near me or my children, understood?" She nods her head yes with wide eyes.  "But I just wanted to apologize." I curl my lip at her and open my mouth to send a nasty retort, but not before Logan runs over, pushing her behind him. This gets the attention of the Camp, and Shane begins making his way over, his eyes on Lori as if I may kill her. She tenses at her twin brother's touch and winces away from him. "What's your fucking problem?" He yells, getting in my face. I arch a brow, letting my eyes turn dark black instead of the normal purple they are when using my powers.

Logan stumbles back with wide eyes, and I chuckle before leaning closer. "Watch your fucking mouth, Logan, and stay away from my family." I snarl as Lori tries to get out of Logan's grip. Shane flanks my left with his hands drawn into tight fist and his magic licking up his fists. Sasha stays behind us, closer to the kids in case things get bad.  My eyes take in Lori's posture and the pure fear as she looks at Logan. Oh shit. That's when everything clicks into place. All those years of pain turn into anger. Anger at Logan.

I snarl my nose up and bite out "Why don't you do me another favor and lay off of Lori? She obviously wants you to leave her alone, just like she did in high school. So fuck off." Logan's face turns dark red as he winds his fist back to hit me, but a gasp stops him. He glances around, seeing the campers' eyes on us, and I smirk as Logan backs down. "Whatever. This is family business. You have no say in this," Logan mumbles. I glance at Lori. "Do you want him to leave you alone?" She gives me a strange look but nods her head yes, making him grind his jaw in anger. "You heard the lady, Logan, fuck off!" Shane yells next to me.

I nod in agreement before glancing back at Lori who whispers "thank you" in my direction. She walks around her twin and brushes against Shane, before we walk to the edge of camp for some privacy. "So why did you do that?" She asks, breaking the tense silence. I shrug my shoulders. "I didn't expect to, but seeing how he treated you... the look on your face. It just all clicked, and I couldn't control my anger. I apologize if I scared your son." Her eyes widen briefly before she nods her head. "So you know about him, about us. Will you tell anyone?" I raise a brow at her. "You mean will I tell my brother, your soulmate?" She nods her head in agreement, and I let out a laugh. "no. I don't think that's any of his business unless you want to tell him. Though I'm not thrilled that you're his other soulmate." Lori shrugs her shoulders, letting out her own laugh. "Yeah. I was pretty surprised when he showed up."

I smile in her direction before my face drops into a thin line. "I do have one question though... where is he?" She hangs her head in shame and starts to sniffle. "I- I think he's dead." I lift my wrist showing her the four sets of black initials (NMM, EPR, & DAB), one set of full gray initials (OTB), and specifically the golden RAG and DKD. "He is still alive, wherever you left him." I snark. She shakes her head frantically. "no! Logan said-Logan!" She whips her head in his direction in anger and I pull her back before she tries to knock him out. "Hey, chill out. He's alive still and you didn't purposely leave him, that's all that matters. I need to know though, do you want me to do something about Logan?" I ask.

Lori hangs her head and tears build in her eyes. "We used to be the best of friends, Laney." The use of my old nickname makes my heart ache and I try to push those memories away. Lori shakes her head. "no. He's-I" she lets out a breath. "He's Carl's father." My stomach sinks with the revelation and it doesn't make forgiving Lori any easier. I sigh, running a hand down my face "as much as I'd like to be angry with you, I don't think anymore anger would help. I'm not ready to forgive you completely but I'm willing to try and move on."

She immediately nods her head yes and goes in to hug me but stops midway. "Sorry, forgot you're not a hugger." Shane approaches us and I push her in his direction "go talk to your soulmate." Shane's eyes widen as I send him a small glare, mouthing 'we will talk later' and he nods, mouthing back 'sorry'. I wave him off and begin walking around the camp, introducing myself to the other campers and not missing the fact that Daryl's eyes follow my every move. A small smile tugs on my lips but I push it away, looking for a place to sleep. "We have extra tents over here and I can help you set it up if you'd like" a voice rings out beside me. I turn and see the grey-haired woman from earlier. "Hi, my name's Carol. I have two girls, Estella is my eldest and Sophia's my youngest. Sophia is actually my stepdaughter but I claim her as my own. Stella is on a run but those are her twin boys," she points to the two boys standing beside her, "Atlas and Regulus."

"Stella should be back already, though she's probably helping Dale. My youngest, Sophia, is the redhead that's talking to your kids and Amy," she says with a chuckle. Her rambling and quick talking, reminds me so much of Osiris that it makes my chest hurt. I push down my emotions again, shoving them into the tiny box at the back of my head, only to be opened when no one else is around. I smile at her, looking over to my kids enjoying themselves. "Nice to meet you, I'm Sloane Walsh and my kids are Blake and Blair. You won't see one without the other," I say, making Carol laugh again. At that moment, seven teenagers swarm towards us, two knocking into me and the others staying near Atlas and Regulus. "Woah, what's up, little devils?" I ask as Blake gives me his puppy dog eyes. "What do you want?"

The others laugh around us as Blake gives me an exasperated expression. "How do you know I want something?" I raise a brow at him, and he shrugs. "Fine, you're right. Can we go to the river with our friends?" Blake asks. I look to Carol, and she shrugs, then pats Sophia's head while Regulus sticks his tongue out at Atlas. "It's pretty safe, but I can't say anything is 100 percent safe," Carol adds. I send her a smile as thanks, then turn to my twins. "Do y'all have your bats?" They both nod, gesturing to their hands where their bats sit. "Okay, but you both know what to do if a walker comes and if I find out y'all didn't call me.." I raise a brow at them, and they both gulp. "Got it! I enjoy life, so I'll let you or Aunt Sasha know," Blake adds.

"What about Aunt Sasha?" my sister asks, walking up to the group as the twins kiss my cheeks. Then they take off after Sophia, Amy, Atlas, and Regulus, though Carl hangs back. "Um, Mrs. -" I cut him off with a wave of my hand. "Call me Sloane, sweetheart. How can I help you?" He smiles lightly and walks a bit closer, so I bend down a bit to his level. "Blake and Blair said that their daddy is gone too. I- I just wanted to tell you that he will come back. I know it, just like my dad," he says quietly. My chest sinks down once again and I wonder if anyone can see the hole that's slowing eating away at my chest and heart.

My eyes fill with tears, and I have to blink them back as I push my empties down again. I grab his small hands in mine and squeeze gently. "Carl, I know your dad will come back to you, okay? He wouldn't leave a wonderful young man like you." He grins widely and throws his arms around my neck. My eyes widen in surprise, but I wrap my arms around him and pat his back. He may look like her, but he's just like his daddy. "Okay, kiddo, go catch up with the others. If you ever need anything, just let me know, okay?" He nods and runs off towards the kids who are playing in the water.

"That was uh very sweet, especially with the... um situation," Carol says from beside me. My head snaps towards her as my eyes narrow. "Excuse me?" Her eyes widen a bit. "I- well, I didn't mean to offend you or anything, but Logan told me what happened." She nervously wrings her hands, and I rake a hand through my thick hair. Anger quells in my chest as I set my sights on the burly body of Logan, and my powers flicker at my fingertips. "Give me a minute Carol" I mumble, my sights set on Logan.

"I just have to take care of a little bitch" I snark before letting out a sigh and walking past a stuttering Carol, towards the mop of brown-mousy hair. I tap his shoulder and he turns around with a frown. I quickly rear back my fist and hit him dead in the nose, hearing a sickening crunch. He screams and holds his bleeding nose. "Next time you want to talk about me and my fucking family, remember this moment" I step closer and lower my voice "Logan, I mean it. Out of respect I won't tell anyone about you and Lori. But unless you want Carl to be down a parent, keep my goddamn name out of your mouth, you stupid bitch." Logan's eyes widen as he grunts in pain and blood pours down his face.

The others gather around, whispering to themselves. Bunch of hens. Most are staring at me all with varying faces, some judging but most entertained. I take it not many people here like Logan. I smirk towards my siblings, as Shane grins proudly at me and Sasha holds her thumb up high "nice shot!" I shake my head, as my eyes trail the camp and settle on a beautiful brunette with icy blue eyes. Mate. Daryl, who was by her side, walks up to me and nods towards the edge of the woods before going back to the brunette.

He grabs her and drags both of us to the edge of the forest. I wring my hands nervously and make sure we are far away enough from prying ears. He stares at me for a few seconds then rubs the back of his neck. "Stella, this is one of our mates, Sloane. She has twins, Blake and Blair. Her elder brother is Shane, both Andrea and Lori's mate. Then her younger sister Sasha." He points out each of them before turning back to us. "Sloane, this is Stella, the mother of Atlas and Regulus." Daryl grumbles. I smile and pull her into my arms, she tenses at first but immediately relaxes into my arms. "I've waited so long for both of you." I whisper.

We pull away and i noticed Stella's cheeks are dusted a light pink. Daryl smiles before looking back at me. "Uh, so why'd ya hit 'em? I mean, that had some weight behind it." Stella laughs, and I swear it's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I shake my head with a wry smile. "It's a long story and parts of it aren't mine to tell" I mumble. Then glance up into his comforting eyes, then Stella's soft eyes, and I sigh. "I'll give the short version because I don't like talking about it," I mutter. "So when my brother and I were about 6 and Sasha was 2, we met Rick Grimes, Carl's dad... and our other soulmate. We didn't realize he was my soulmate until we were in our teens, but I always felt close to him. Thought my feelings didn't really affect the friendship; they still treated me like an annoying little sister until we hit high school, and the bonds clicked into place. Shane became very protective the older both Sasha and I got, bless his heart." I smile lightly and look over to him with Andrea and Lori. I wonder if he knew then that they were soulmates and ignored it for me?

I shake my head and continue. "Anyways, we met more people, and our circle grew by three. Lori, Logan, and O-" the name dies on my tongue, and a bitter taste fills my mouth. I clear my throat and continue, "Osiris, my late husband. When we met and I found out he was another soulmate, things went... downhill. You see, Rick and I never acted like anything more than friends since we grew up together. I guess there wasn't really a romantic relationship yet, so he felt threatened by Osiris. Plus, he was adamant that he wouldn't have a male soulmate." I let out a humorless chuckle. "Of all things, right? I mean, his parents were totally cool with it, so it didn't make sense."

I sigh and shake my head. "But he also had someone in his ear the whole time, telling him lies. You can guess who that was." They both snort, and Daryl nods towards Lori, making me nod yes. "She told him I was going to leave him and that I lied about Osiris being a mate. Though I understand why she did it now..." I shake my head and continue. "One night after Osiris and I were, um, together and completing the bond, Rick came in screaming. I'm not sure what exactly she said to rile him up that much, but he said some awful things. Though I don't think it helped that he found us in bed."

I shake my head, his words still haunting my mind. "The next day, he started dating Lori, breaking up the friend group. Shane wouldn't even look at him, let alone speak to him. Sasha used to torture them at school, not that I made any moves to stop her." They both chuckle, and I send them a half smile. "Rumors were spread, and I was ostracized, as if I had done something wrong. As if Lori hadn't manipulated and stolen my other soulmate." I snark. "About a month after that, I found out I was pregnant, and shocker, so was Lori. Rick proposed to her immediately, and that was the end of that." I say, brushing a few stray tears away.

Daryl furrows his brows for a second, then opens his arms as a question, and I nod, stepping forward and wrapping my arms around his waist. Stella wraps her arms around us both, and for once, I feel at peace, like nothing can hurt me. I feel like I'm home. Daryl gently rubs my back and places a small kiss on my head as Stella holds my hand. "So what happened to Osiris?" He asks quietly. I pull back, with sad eyes. "One night after the apocalypse started, he came to bed with me and the kids. The next morning, we woke up, and he was gone. Like he vanished into thin air. I thought maybe he went to guard with Shane, but he had been searching all morning for him... We found a letter from him in my pack, with little to no explanation and we never found his body."

"Then how do you know he's dead?" Daryl asks, and I lift my wrist, showing the dull grey initials OTB. Daryl grabs my other hand, squeezing it. "Do you think he got turned?" Stella asks with a frown. Before I can stop it, a small laugh bubbles from my mouth and makes them both eye me warily. "I'm sorry, I just— I have to tell you something else that you're totally not going to believe." He raises a brow. "Try me." I turn to Stella, and she just shrugs, so I chuckle. "Don't say I didn't warn you both." I step back, closing my eyes, feeling the warmth of magic flow through my body, and use my hands to form clouds of black and purple. It swirls into a ball, and Daryl jumps back while Stella stares with wide eyes. "I'm not exactly human. My siblings, the twins, and I are... special. We were born with magic because we were gods before we were reborn into this life. We are also immune to the virus, along with any other disease or virus... and we don't age past a certain point." Both of their mouths hang slack, and they look at the magic in my hand again.

Daryl lifts his hand and slowly moves to touch the ball of energy. As soon as his fingers touch it, my magic encases his hand. Then it gently twirls around his arm before dissipating. A small smile graces his lips, and I release a sigh. I was for sure they were going to freak out and leave me. The magic then curls around Stella, but instead of disappearing, it melts into her skin, and her eyes turn a deep green like mine when I use magic. Does she have powers too?

Before I can think anymore on it, the magic disappears, leaving Stella with a smile. "You're not the only one with a dirty little secret," Stella smirks, and she changes before my eyes. Her once round ears turn pointed, and her teeth somehow get sharper, like little daggers. Her complexion turns dewy and sparkly. Then two large wings sprout from her back, and green magic encases us. My jaw drops as she changes back to her normal form, and I finally accept the mate bonds, hoping to make her smile but instead making them both gasp. "I didn't want to accept you before you both knew my dirty little secret, but since I'm not the only one," I smirk. I feel them both accept the bond back, and my heart tingles with joy. "Anything else, Sabrina? Like, are you really a 1,000-year-old vampire too?" Daryl asks, looking between the two of us. I let out a giggle and swat his arm. "Now that you mention it, I am immortal, hence the no-aging thing. I would assume my mates would get the same powers and life span as well, but I don't know."

Stella nods her head. "Same with mine, but we are the last of the fae or faeries." He shakes his head, absorbing all of the information before turning to me with a smile and gently pressing his lips to mine. My body melts under his touch as if I was made just for him, and fireworks dance around in my chest. He pulls back and rests his forehead on mine, but before he can speak, Stella cuts him off by pressing her lips to mine. Again, my heart feels as if it's going to beat out of my chest, and fireworks explode within me. Our kiss is cut short though by two cars flying into camp, honking their horns like idiots. My chest tightens and I look around frantically for the kids, not seeing them by the river. "Where are they" I shout.

Ignoring Daryl and Stella's calls, I run over to where I last saw them, with both of my mates on my heels. I hear an ear-piercing scream from my right and see Sophia running from a walker; Blake, Blair, Atlas, Regulus, Amy, and Carl nowhere in sight. I take my scythe out and quickly slice the walker's head off in one fluid motion before sheathing it. "BLAKE! BLAIR!" I scream, my eyes flickering purple and darting around the camp until I see two dark haired teens. I swiftly pull Sophia with me, running us towards her mother and my kids.

The group quickly runs towards us, all having heard the screams and meeting us halfway. Carol barrels past the others and grabs her stepdaughter in a tight hug. "Oh, Sophia, baby, I was so worried!" Carol murmurs, holding her youngest close. Stella runs over with Atlas and Regulus. She tightly wraps her arms around her mother and sister, with the twins guarding them. Tears brim her eyes as her mom pulls her in closer. She looks up to me with tears in her eyes and mouths 'thank you'. I nod with a smile, and whisper "anything for you, love." Her cheeks turn pink, and she hides her tear-soaked face in her sister's hair. Atlas and Regulus both narrow their eyes at me, but I ignore them, instead turning around to the twins.

They both gulp and try to hide behind Shane. "Oh, no way, y'all aren't hiding behind me. You're in big trouble, and she's scary," Shane says to the twins. Sasha nods her head in agreement as Andrea covers her giggle with a cough while I try not to laugh but end up cracking a half smile. "We will talk later, you two," I say to the twins, who nod yes vehemently, then tackle me in a hug. I pat their backs as my heart rate starts to slow down again. They're safe. They're not gone like he is. "You two are going to give me a heart attack," I mumble. Then I turn to Carol, "There was a walker chasing her, but I didn't see anymore, did you, Dar?" His cheeks turn pink at the nickname, and he squeezes my hand, that still rests in his. "Sloane?" A familiar voice calls out. I turn and meet steel-blue eyes. My breath catches in my throat as I gaze at the bloodied man.

"Rick?"

"Because there is no fairness in love or death."

Authors note: There's the first chapter redone. My writing style has changed so much (for the better I think). So this rewrite took much longer than the others. I do hope you like the plot changes :)

Do you like the characters so far? Who is your favorite?

Who do you think Sloane will be closest with in the camp?

What do you think of Osiris and his new backstory?

Do you think her and Rick will get back together or will he try to get with Lori?

Any other questions/comments/requests?
