Victor of Year 153: Eden Karam [@TheCatKing]

"Beware the smiling prodigy- she dances without equal, but the music is always an elegy."

Name: Eden Karam (EE-dehn kah-RAHM)

Gender: Female

Age: 13

District: Two-Masonry

Physical Appearance: Eden is very proud of herself: just this year she finally broke five feet tall, a height which she feared she would never reach despite the tall builds of her parents. Her hair (kept long, but tied back in a practical ponytail) and eyes are both deep brown, reflecting her Middle Eastern ancestry, and her skin is a warm tan that strongly resembles her older cousin Esther's complexion. Though of slender build, every inch of her not actually composed of bone, skin, or vital organ is made of tough, stringy muscle that makes her stronger and heavier than her frame would suggest.

All in all, she remains almost exactly as adorable as when she won her Games. However, this time around her competitors know that appearances can be deceiving.

Personality: It's really a shame that Eden isn't quite as cheerful as she used to be. Though her Games were a lot of fun (and an excellent excuse to get out of doing homework,) she's discovered that while there are many paths to popularity in the schoolyard, gleefully massacring first the Career pack and later the other tributes with the good sense to hide from her is not among them. It would seem there are limits to acceptable bloodlust even in Two. She accepted the quiet removal of her former softball team with surprising grace (they were sore losers anyway,) and it was understandable when her gymnastics coach, whose son she had killed in the Games, refused to see her. However, when even her family began to whisper about her in quiet voices, her good humor began to break. And while she never considered herself normal, she would appreciate an acknowledgment that she's the same Eden she's always been. It has never occurred to her that this might be exactly what worries everyone.

Past: There is a certain reputation attached to the Karam family of District Two: though they have an extraordinary track record in the Peacekeepers, something about them is always too...much for the carefully ordered streets of the District. Should they fail to find their proper outlet, a jangling, restless sort of energy will overtake them, and the elderly of their neighbors will be certain that individual will be trouble.

So it was with the particular Karams in the enormous house at the end of Horatius Avenue. No fewer than eleven members of the family shared that whitewashed abode, including Eden, her parents, and her cousins Esther, Ezra, and Eli. The family was headed by Marian, a severe matriarch who was really far more intimidating than any 4'11'' grandmother ought to be. Eden grew up in an affectionate, if bustling household surrounded by people happy to show their adorable toddler a few moves from the tribute Academy they were attending that year. It came as something of a surprise, however, when said adorable individual at the tender age of five mastered the techniques they were honing and began to correct their form in a high-pitched, dreadfully solemn tone. Entire martial arts designed to be acquired over the course of years were devoured, processed, and remembered flawlessly in a matter of weeks. Though she lacked her cousins' raw physicality, Eden's skill easily outstripped them in every conceivable application, whether it be combat, gymnastics, or dance.

When her cousin Eli was selected for the Games as highest in his Academy class, a ten-year-old Eden quickly grew frustrated with his emotional meandering, hesitation to kill, and lingering psychological trauma even after his victory. She resolved to do better; the next year, she volunteered before the female Academy student had a chance to do so; she reasoned (correctly) that the fact that she would turn twelve before the Games actually started was sufficient to qualify her to compete. Two and a half weeks later, she set two records: the youngest victor in Two's history, and the shortest lived Career pack in any Games recorded.

Strengths: Eden is a prodigy by any sane standard; though her talent for science, language, and art remains approximately average, any physical skill is absorbed as quickly and easily as breathing. There is functionally no weapon of human origin she cannot use immediately or teach herself how to use given time. She has mastery of twelve different martial arts, in addition to the self-defense techniques used by Peacekeepers and most gymnastics moves her frame is capable of supporting. If that were insufficient, she also possesses zero compunction about killing- in fact, inefficient tactics that assign some value to human life are a pet peeve of hers.

Weaknesses: To her deep annoyance, Eden cannot escape a simple fact: she is a thirteen-year-old girl, and small for her age. Though she is significantly more athletic than she appears, nearly any given adult in Panem is physically stronger than her. There is also the fact that no sane tribute would trust her without some sort of insurance, given her cavalier attitude towards allies (and enemies. And bystanders.) Her Games were last year, so it is extremely unlikely anyone has forgotten her capabilities.

Other: She hopes the arena will include pink this year. She enjoys the color pink.
