Task Eight/F: That's All For Now
Darkness filled the room, a collective unspoken groan that swept through everyone there. Constantine Craine and Cadette Lance had been the first to fall. It had been tiresome, watching it all, but it was over. The nights and days of sun and blood ceased for another year. Every death, every second, every tear shed loomed over those who remained. It had been great, but not what anyone wanted. Too many good Victors were forever lost, their memories all but shattered remains of a legacy once so full.
The arena had fallen apart, broken and recycled for the next games to appear. Another year would rise and this arena would be forgotten. Another year would pass and those dead would remain dead, yet their stories wouldn't be forgotten. What it meant would stand strong for those who remained. Immersed in the hearts of the citizens are the stories of the dead--and the living. With every passing year, the murders go up, and the Victors slowly go down, each one passing as the years fade away.
★THE TASK★
Your time in the arena is over. The years have passed, molding together into an indistinguishable blur, until, at last, you come to your final resting place. In this task, you will show your tribute's last moments on earth. Whether it's been seventy years or seven since they last stepped foot in the arena, how they finally meet their end is up to you. Give us the final seconds of a Victor. The only other requirement is that you show us how they won the games. In detail, or just passing memories, relay to us how the other competitors died, and how this bloody Hunger Games ended.
How did they react? Were they happy, sad, proud? Do they regret their actions, or wish there was more to be done? Did your Victor live a good life? Don't skimp out on creativity here.
★WORD LIMIT★
No word limits. But if you send us 9,000 words one judge says she is not in a million years going to read that entry.
★DEADLINE★
Tuesday, April 18th at 9:00 P.M. CST
★VOTING★
Voting will go up after all the tasks have been posted, and winners will be announced after the special awards.
★IN ADDITION★
The writers of Cadette Lance and Constantine Craine are welcome to write their tribute's final moments in the arena if they would like to compete for fifth place. They will have a word limit of 2,000 words.
