The Directory Handbook

The following information is what you'll be using as your information 'cheat sheet'. It will tell you everything you need to know and will host a small Q & A towards the bottom and Spark Notes. If you ever have a question that hasn't been answered, or you're still confused on, this is the place to comment. Don't be shy and certainly participate and look over everything. We highly recommend that you take everything into careful consideration before choosing to participate in our games for a smooth and exciting experience.

Sincerely,

Cadelon Anthromis

CHARACTER FORM

This is what you'll fill out and E-mail to us when explaining your character. I recommend you spend a lot of time on this and don't just throw it together in seconds. Your dedication will show through in your words. Trust me, every word counts from this point on. Also please note that if you don't use full sentences, or have basic wordings, we might REVOKE your form. You'll have a one chance after that to re-design and think it over but after that; it's a goodbye.

DEATHS AND BALLOTS

Okay, these are always a little tricky. Like I said before, Deaths are when you kill or witness a character's death in your entry. The Game Makers will give you a set number of how many you can have of both. Ballots are almost the same way. It's a way of turning your back against a tribute without them knowing.

As you know. Sometimes things can get out of hand and turn into revenge...

So, Ballots are quite simple. You can ballot a tribute, while they are perfectly alive in the story.

What do they do?

They basically decide the ranks, they DO NOT decide if you are voted out. Sometimes, if you are highest in your rank, you'll be awarded special bonuses. Little prizes that you'll find out later on in the competition. Don't be afraid to spread your wings a little and venture.

More is being said in the chapter that I provided just for this cause.

VOTING

Voting is little different. You might hear us say "being voted out" a lot and all that means is if you have a low score, you'll be set up to vote. Basically, that means your alliances, other people, stalkers...etc. are allowed to vote for you to stay if you are ever put up to vote. DO NOT SELF PROMOTE, this will end up with an automatic elimination from the competition. Self-promoting means you can't advertise yourself to get votes. We will find out if you bribe a Game Maker, and we will find out if you bribed anyone!

JUDGING YOUR ENTRIES

We have a scale from 1-12. Twelve being the best and one being the absolute worst.

0 - You did nothing and this will likely result in elimination.

1 & 2 - Although this is a score we hate to give, if you give us an entry this is under 500 words and seems very childish, you could end up with this.

2 & 4 - You supplied the bare minimum and seemed to show little interest.

5 & 6 - You were alright, mixed really well, but we felt you could use A LOT of improvement. This shows you showed little interest but still enough to question your ranking.

7 & 8 - This is what I suspect most will receive. This is probably what you can call "Average." Average means you didn't do your worst, but you also also need much more if you plan on standing out and winning this.

9 & 10 - You did a nice job, and showed lots of potential, but there was just something we kept getting nit picky on. (Feel free to question what it is if you land this.)

11 - We enjoyed it thoroughly and plan to see more. You did close to everything we wanted and there's nothing much more you could have improved.

12 - Last games, we only gave this out ONE time to James Peachton, and that was saying a lot. Recieve this and feel especially honored.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: How can I improve on my writing while still managing to keep my traditional style?

A: The best thing we like to see in improvement! No matter what, if we feel you've escalated in your writing over the course of the games, you'll make it quite far. Try to keep in mind all the cliche things that have ever been said, because well, they're cliche for a reason. Always go over and proof read your grammar and spelling. Spelling mistakes are a big no no when we have 'spell check'. Also, make sure you use the RIGHT type of word. Some that are mostly commonly mistaken are: [They're/ There/ Their] [Definitely/ Defiantly] [Where/ Were] [No/Know] [Affect/ Effect] [Accept/ Except] [Then/ Than] [Capital/ Capitol] [Your/ You're] [Two/ Too/ To] [Lie/ Lay]

Q: Where is the best place to answer a question that needs to be replied to FAST?

A: We are not stalking you if we reply to your private message within the span of a minute or two. On my phone, I'm commonly logged into the account and it sends me a reminder after 10 seconds of the message being received. If you have a question that would only be used for you, or need it done quickly; that where to go. If you just have a common question about the task at hand or just something that's popped in your head; put it on the most relevant chapter. There, you're question should be responded two within 1-2 days.

Q: Okay, what if something came up, are we allowed to ask for extensions to write?

A: Yes, and No. When we post the tasks, they're most likely going to give you a 5-6 day writing period before the deadline. We understand that sometimes things do come up and for that, we allow an open window of 0.5-3 hours afterwards for you to turn in your entry. I know that might not seem like a lot, but we're very precise when posting. As soon as the deadline hits, we post all the entries of that round with no acceptations. So unless you want to have your entry be pending, I'd recommend not to do that. Please though, I beg you not to wait until last minute to turn in your entry, it makes us have to read them quickly and probably miss some important details. Not to mention delaying the scores and rankings.

Q: Things have been going on in life and I need to withdraw from the competition and/or a task. How should I go about that?

A: Ah, it's bound to happen at least once. Last time it was one of the best writers and I'm sure it will happen here as well. If you need to just be excluded from a task, then you MUST tell us immediately. Not the day before, or the day after. As soon as you see the task, tell us what's going on and your reason being. No, we'll not question you are judge you, we understand that it is a personal issue for you and you only. Depending on how far in we are, and the writer, we'll work out what to do. If you need to withdraw from the competition, please message us and we'll bid you a farewell and acknowledge your leaving in the 'The Anthem Plays' chapter.

Q: Are we allowed to have allies and add their character to our own entries?

A: Yes! This is actually encouraged. I know that the past competitors are a little edgy about this because one of the tasks we did include backstabbing a tribute. It caused a lot of harsh tension but we promise that none of our tasks will be the same, so don't expect that to appear. Anyways, feel free to create alliances between multiple people, or, stick to being a loner. These can form at any time so don't feel like you have to ask beforehand. It has no differences to us. We just like to keep tabs to know which tributes work best with each other and who's the threats.

Q: Is there a certain type of tribute or style you're looking for that could give me an edge in the arena and games?

A: Well of course we like to see you being your own type of person but there are a few minimal expectations. One of those being the fact that every tribute must be unique. No, not the cliche unique were we delusionalize you into thinking that we're all special. Heads up, no one's perfect. Basically, just don't go and create a sixteen of age female who has long blonde hair with sparkling blue eyes and a smile that could get any man to fall to their knees. Do you see the plot flaws?

Q: These are my first games and I'm really confused on the expectations and way of going about?

A: First of all, welcome! Second, don't worry because we've all been there and know what it's like to read all the chapters to make sure they didn't miss anything or screw up their whole formatting. Just the thought of wanting to join us in great and we really appreciate your consideration in our games. One of the main reasons I do the guides and handbooks is to formally confirm all the rules and acknowledgements so none can say they never knew that or etcetera. Also I'd like to mention that if Vengeance is your first game ever, go back and look through Retribution to get a hint on how things are set up. It'll help you know what and when updates will appear.
