Character Name: Chuckles

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Physical Appearance: Chuckles never spent too much time on his appearance when he was alive and he doesn’t see why he should now that he’s dead. He was always made fun of for his large nose but has appeared to grow into it, and his eyes are as dark as 72% dark chocolate. His hair is usually messy or hastily combed and he isn’t usually seen without a smile on his face. As Chuckles usually wears jackets or scarves, one would have to look closely to see the small scars around his neck and shoulders. But enough about those, let’s keep going! 

Some have ridiculed his choice of style but he immediately corrects that he has none. He wears the clothes that he died in, as do all spirits. A green sweater his mother gave him for Christmas and slightly torn jeans make up his outfit as well as a knit cardigan. A pair of dog tags sometimes joined by a beanie complete the ensemble. 

Personality: You will seldom see Chuckles without a smile, or at least a hint of one, on his face. That is how he got his nickname after all. Some spirits find it unnerving that he smiles so much, but his best friend Ciggy doesn’t mind. Armed with his sense of humor and depressing ghost friend, Chuckles is a force to be reckoned with out in the field. A stubborn will and good looks might have gotten him killed, but he’ll be damned if they stop him from winning this competition. Chuckles is also a great liar, evident in the fact that no other ghost but Ciggy was able to see past his cheerful facade.

Past: Chuckles was once engaged to a beautiful and kind woman. Claire was the love of his life, his very reason for living. So when she got hit in a car crash, his world shattered. The careful walls he had built up only she had been able to slip through, but now they crashed around him, leaving him exposed and vulnerable. The doctors said she would never wake up, that he should give up now. And the thought of never seeing her again was too much for Chuckles to handle. So, in the fashion of Romeo, he killed himself in the hospital room laying at Claire’s side. He was at peace, done with this world, and finally truly happy. Until she began to wake up. The doctors were wrong, she would survive, and now Chuckles was doomed to purgatory while his fiancée woke bright and happy, not seeing at first the body of her love lying beside her.

Reason to Live: Chuckles must get back to the real world. He must do it for Claire. No matter how badly he hurt her, the pain of being without her is too much to bear. He will find Claire so they can be together once and for all, if not to fill the aching hole in his heart.

Other: Chuckles’ good friend Ciggy so got his name from the fact that he smokes even though he’s dead. Weird, right?
