Combat Two: Nyelia

Half-gods are worshiped in wine and song— real gods require blood.

Alias: Nyelia

Name: Nyelia, Goddess of the West Wind, Protector of Fertile Lands, Commander of Holy Wars, Watcher of All That Will Be.

Age: Time has no meaning for a goddess. Her people lived almost seven thousand years ago and she will outlive their memory by thousands more.

Gender: Female

Division: Combat and Defense

Time with SHADR: Ever since The Accident™ (AKA: A year and six months)

Citizenship: Nyelia has been entombed in rock, immobile and unaware of the world around her, for centuries. Any citizenship she claims would be from civilizations long destroyed. She does, however, have a British passport for travel purposes.

Education: She has knowledge on all the movements of heaven and Earth. Ask her how the wind rejuvenates the field. How the moon speaks to the ocean waves. These are the things she knows. Do not ask her to change the TV station or to ride in the elevator alone. These are the things she does not know.

Appearance: Nyelia once possessed the ability to change her form at will. Nowadays, she chooses to stay in a form that her employers and coworkers say are "acceptable" in this day and age. She's taken a few liberties where she deems necessary, however. She towers over most mortals, looking down upon them like a queen casting her eyes over her court. Her hair is dark and thick, flowing down her back with luxurious softness. While soft to the touch, her skin is pronounced with muscles and strong enough to make you doubt why you touched her in the first place. It is difficult to get her to dress in anything that could be considered casual. A deity deserves nothing less than opulence— silk and gems and all things that emanate her power. Sequins are a modern invention that she enjoys immensely. However, she will make small, grudging accommodations for combat missions but little else. Don't try to talk her into wearing a bra. The argument is just not worth it. It's not happening.

Personality: Once, there were temples dedicated in her honor. They sang of her loyalties, her devotions and grandeur. Her mercy and wrath were legendary, carved and painted into walls and pillars to tell the stories of her legacy. But words do not do a goddess justice. Only in person can you truly see the majesty that she possesses. Although she has not yet come to fully understand the modern world, she is patient and resourceful enough to try and absorb the culture. Many things confuse her, such as why she is now considered "metahuman" and who Beyonce is. But other things remain the same. She is a goddess of wind and war, patient watcher of the world around her. Quick thinking and resourceful, she remains true to her higher purpose to protect those who serve her. Although she is irritated by the lack of adoring worshipers and libations, as well as a significant depletion in altar sacrifices, she understands that these things must come with time.

Metahuman Abilities: At her strongest, Nyelia possessed all the powers of a great goddess. She was adept in all manners of warfare, capable of destroying her enemies beneath her thumb. Her skin was difficult but not impossible to puncture, but her wrath was not worth the reward of making a god bleed. The soil trembled beneath her footfall, whole cities running red with blood in order to appease her endless thirst. At her strongest, the wind bowed to her command and in return the earth grew only at her touch. A trickster, she would often take the form of wounded animals in order to test the hearts of her subjects. She possessed the ability to bestow both blessings and curses to the mortal world at a whim. Nothing and no one was safe, she was an endless ethereal being of both love and destruction. Creation and chaos were pebbles crushed between her palms. But Nyelia has been entombed for thousands of years, draining her physical form of its strength. Many of her powers have been dormant for too long, reducing their memory to crumbling cobwebs of what used to be. What remains, however, is limited access to her most basic abilities, and a psychic connection connecting her soul to the soul of the woman who summoned her from sleep. Through this bond, knowledge and power passes through to both of them. This is why she knows fully well how to operate a car but refuses to get inside.
