Appearance: She doesn't look like what people picture when they think popular - the cliche American stereotype of a blonde, white cheerleader is nearly as far from El as possible. Her dark hair is thick and wiry, usually roped into a braid and slicked into management. Her deep brown eyes and olive skin reflect her mother's Indian heritage, and Elspeth is proud of it, having grown up being praised for her exotic beauty rather than bullied for it (though she does occasionally dislike being called exotic - she's an English person, not a Brazilian flower). She stands short at 5'1", but she's not petite, as her athletic body keeps people from thinking of her as very fragile at all. El isn't the most beautiful girl, but she is decent-looking, and her confidence and personality shine through her face and clothing. When she's not in the dull Hogwarts robes she's used to, she tries to keep up with Muggle fashion as her Muggle father is always showering her with the most in-fashion clothing whenever she's home on holiday - to keep her sane, he claims.

Personality: There have been many generations of troublemakers at Hogwarts, and El is proud of being the most recent. Though she keeps up in her classes due to a mix of being charming and having common sense enough to survive sixth year so far, she'd rather wreak havoc than reek of ink. There's nothing she loves more than being the center of attention, no matter the situation, and if that means detention once a week for her elaborate, childish pranks, she'd scrub the entire castle. Her bubbly, effervescent personality makes her very popular, and even those who don't exactly like her know of her, as her most recent prank closed the Divination tower for a month after it filled head to toe with goo-filled balloons (though, no one really needed to take Divination; after all, if it were real, someone should have predicted that it would happen). Although El is generally very extroverted and social, she does go through what she dubs as 'cloudy' moods, where her normally social self is more prone to staying in or simply watching instead of her usual attention grabbing self. Everyone notices these periods, but they've grown used to them, and hardly notice anymore when she goes a few days without talking or setting up jokes that sometimes take more work to plan than to carry out.
