"Give it up Chancellor. It's over for you," Windu demanded, hislightsaber poised to strike.

Anakin ran into the room and Palpatine smiled. "Not yet," hesaid, a hint of triumph in his voice. "Anakin help me! Don't lethim kill me!"

Windu looked at his fellow Jedi and saw the lightsaber Anakin held."Anakin I was right," Palpatine continued. "The Jedi are takingover, just like I told you they would."

Anakin hesitated and Windu sensed his struggle, his uncertainty. "Helies, Anakin. I am not the traitor here, Chancellor Palpatine is andalways has been," Windu told him. Don't make the mistake you'reabout to Anakin. You have great potential, but not if you believePalpatine's lies.

When Anakin didn't say anything, Windu went in for the kill, butPalpatine was ready and he threw his hands out. Lightning flew out ofhis hands and Windu blocked, sending it back at him. The lightingstruck the man with incredible force, causing his skin to wrinkle andage. His hair quickly turned white and he groaned under the effort ofkeeping up his attack.

"Anakin do something," Palpatine pleaded. "Don't let him killme, please."

Windu's arms were tiring, but he knew Anakin was quickly fallingunder Palpatine's spell. Palpatine sensed it too, and pressed theadvantage. "If he kills me, I won't be able to save the woman youlove," he yelled. "I can't hold out much longer. Choose a side."

His lighting fizzled and then died out, and Windu approached again,ready to kill him, but Anakin stopped him. "Wait! You can't killhim, it's not the Jedi way. He needs to stand trial."

Windu shook his head. "The whole court is in his pocket. It's toodangerous to let him live. We have to kill him now and endthis."

He lifted his lightsaber again, but realized that this was a losingfight. Anakin was already too far gone and nothing would change that,but even so, he had to try. He couldn't let Palpatine go free if hecould avoid it, and the order needed Anakin. The young Jedi wasgifted, even if he was reckless at times, and his gifts could beuseful.

Anakin grabbed his arm. "Stop! I need him to save Padme!"

"He must be killed before his influence spreads," Windu insisted,pulling his arm free.

"No." Anakin yelled as Windu brought his saber downtowards Palpatine.

He lashed out and Windu screamed as his arm was severed from hisshoulder. The wound was instantly cauterized by the lightsaber, butWindu didn't get a chance to do anything else. Palpatine seized themoment and shot his lightning at Windu again.

It slammed into him, eliciting another agonized cry. The bluelightning crackled across his skin, it's heat and power washingthrough him, killing him. He knew he was finished. But his deathwould mean something. It would prompt the council to act, and hewould watch over them through the Force as they fought Palpatineevils.

"Fight... him... Anakin..." he whispered, but he knew that no onehad heard him.

The lightning intensified, but he felt strangely detached from itall, as though he was experiencing it all, but wasn't really there.Anakin. We had such high hopes for you.

 His eyes closed and he had the sensation of flying for a momentbefore he faded completely. A new energy coursed through him as hissoul left his body and merged with the force. He was whole now. Trulywhole.
