Wisteria was the last one out when the room that once rang with buzzing excitement was no more. All that was left in it's place was her tiny body to fill the wide void of space. Through ragged tears and multiple times where she thought a wig would do better than her thinning, it was coming to the final end.
Tender walked close to her from out in the distance, wrapped an arm around her shoulder and took a deep breath. She couldn't help the choking in her words. "We did it, everything, this is it."
"I know."
"I worked so hard for this, wasting days without eating only to be forgotten down the list of other Game Makers." Wisteria's shoulders sagged and for only the second time that Tender could see.
"This time it was emotional, next time it's going to kill them. We'll make it happen." He spoke quickly as if his life ambition was to get those few words out like a deadly secret. It might truly be.
Turning towards him, Wisteria peered up from her comfortable position. "What makes you think that the next games will be any worse?"
"Cadelon Anthromis is back."
For the first time in a long while, Wisteria felt fear.
To think this all started on a random spurt is amazing. It seems like just yesterday I created this account and let it sit for over two weeks before mustering the courage to post Author Games: Retribution. The worry of not taking off is always their, clouding your mind. Yet, here we are, lucky enough to have almost 11k views. Looking at the other games and contests like this, we have almost 1k votes as a total. This is more than any of the well known accounts and works dedicated to these kind of things.
Wow.
Then you had the advertising. You don't just get recognized for creating it, you actually have to promote! I know, the dreaded word that could only lead to trouble. I've always loved coding, so when I took two hours creating all the ads and placements, it wouldn't be a lie. Along with going in the clubs, I even breached out across another writing website that I've been using even before Wattpad. That alone brought 2k views as a whole.
Sweet Goodness.
There are many people to give thanks to for these past couple months. One of them being cloudland for making not only Retribution's cover, but also Vengeance. Although it might only seem like that is a minimal thing to care for, the cliche saying 'don't judge a book by it's cover' is known for a reason. Hopefully in the future she'll be able to make many more and I can't wait to see what else she'd create. I'd definitely recommend checking her profile and thread if you're in need of a cover.
Then there's lostwithmyfriends, I can still remember when I was sitting like a loser on a Friday night fangirling over all the torture we were going to put you through. It was a hundred percent his idea for Task 6: Entwined Messages. He even went as far as getting on the account when I was unavailable- which seemed like every deadline -to help with posting and setting up everything. All bonuses were chosen by him, along with the Sponsorship mini story which he'd wrote. Tender Exilo, his character was so much fun to write with all the bickering Wisteria and him would do. I'm ecstatic to know he's joining us next games. He was so much fun and we'd have the weirdest talks about nothing.
Oh, can't forget about Lost-My-Soul; she's a nut case, also known as my cousin. Though that's not her real account and only her game profile on Wattpad. One of the many reasons she waited days before responding to messages. Although she didn't do any of the actual tasks or read much of the entries, the actual idea of some things could only be created by her. Task 5: Rycotta's Righteous Reasonings was a blast to make because I was actually with her. We were outside sitting on the hammock together at twelve at night creating an obnoxious story about three women named Petunia, Rosemary, and Lilly who were very spiteful and even killed, cannibalized, and gave merciless pain to one another. One of my favorite lines was actually "So then, with a dagger in hand, and needle in the other. Rosemary grasped for Lilly's eye, ripping it straight from the socket and stitching it into her own. Oh what beautiful color they were." Vengeance will be a whirlwind.
All of my Game Maker's including myself were so much fun to work with and form this account from nothing. We already are in the ranks at #292 in Action and Vengeance hasn't even started yet. Not to mention this one made it to #60 in Action.
Though it wasn't just them who made the games, but also some of the tributes.
TessRebellious, you are one of the few that come to mind. You were so amazing to work with and I love tributes who are active and just seem overall excited for this! You commented on so many chapters and every time you advanced in a round, you always improved immensely. James Peachton, hands down was one of the most surprising tributes I've seen in my days. As for your other one, Toby Winters. Whoa, wait a minute.... I THOUGHT HE WAS TWELVE! This changes everything.... What the hell was I thinking? There's so much I'm reconsidering in my head right now.
ariel_paiement1, it was shocking seeing Azrael come back from the dead in 'The Starving Artist's Games'. Admittedly, I was uneasy, trying so hard not to turn away and be biased about the whole situation. Luckily though, I pulled through and learned to love him. Along with Meri Yanamari, which since the games are over I feel I can say; her name sounded like a yacht yet I loved it. Along with Tess, you were one of those people who worked hard and constantly had an uplifting outlook on everything.
ShayTree can I just -I love your username. I've always looked at you as an opponent but throughout these games my thoughts on you changed completely. You were fun to work with and your writing was incredible. I loved your words and how you described them. Everything just was beautiful. Of course there is much room for improvement but we're not here for that, not now.
CyborgGladiator, Achmetha scared the living shit out of me when reading his character form. Though I must reason with you when saying that each death was incredible and extremely well done. I still remember when you entered my games. I was defiantly shocked for sure. There's so much more that could say but I don't want to waste time on nonsensical praise.
SarSar14 you don't know how many times in my head I was like "I'm going to sponsor her, I have to." Why I didn't, I couldn't give you an answer. You really lit up the games and gave it such an amazing feel. It's such a devastation we couldn't see it sooner until you pulled out Wiley. It was always a thought of 'what is she going to say next' when it came to your little notes.
LaurenLuu, you are my dark horse.
Sadly I don't have an; Editor, Beta Reader, Best Friend, Publisher, or Agent to thank. Though I do have you. The Reader. The ones who gave this that 11k to be.
The Victor has been announced. Let the 101th annual Hunger Games be remembered by all.
