Appearance: A slender, graceful face framed by long, straight, black hair; dark eyes; long, feminine fingers with callused tips; sun-tanned skin; lean body frame.
Personality: Type B personality; playfully competitive but a good loser (and a gracious winner); artistic, favoring painting; believes in labels and social roles but encourages people to find true identity beyond these; for life in the modern world, Ko'lhamana goes by the name Todd and owns/runs a (drag-) nightclub called Eden, and regularly performs there as “D’vine Intervention” with a set list of pop hits; a forgiving soul, but not one to be duped by a repeat offender.
Brief History: In the Zuni creation myths, the lhamana were the first beings, and from them sprang all mankind; known by various names throughout North America and under the general term of “two-spirit,” they were creatures of balance between the genders, shared burden, spiritual mediation, and peace-making. For the approximately four-and-a-half-thousand years since the Zuni culture began to form, Ko'lhamana, one of the original lhamana, has lived among them in Zuñi, New Mexico, as a living totem generally left alone except on days of spiritual significance and as a mentor to the spiritual leaders of the Zuni nation. In more recent days, he’s moved to Silver City, New Mexico, to open Eden. The presence of fluidly gendered individuals and the attention he gets as “D’vine” are what’s kept him from fading and dying like the rest of the original lhamanas.
