1930s: Edith Burke (@selinas_03)

Name: Edith Berke

Age: 9

Sex: Female

Decade: 1930s

Appearance: One could describe Edith as a young free spirit with her golden blonde hair falling past her shoulders and a smile that almost radiates with youth. Her eyes gleam a rare sapphire blue which twinkles almost like stars on a clear night. And like the majority of her family, she possesses snowy, pale, white skin, free of any blemishes or freckles. Edith's short height of 4' had teachers frequently overlooking the petite child, for her height only ever reached her classmates' shoulders.

Personality: Edith puts on a sweet demeanor to fool those around her, deceiving them into thinking that she was simply the typical child from her time: obedient, sweet, and pleasant. But deep down, under all those layers of artificial sugary sweetness, hides a girl who secretly daydreams about wearing real pants and leaving the household to enjoy a carefree life. In other words, what people would call a "tomboy". And whereas other girls her age stare at a porcelain doll through a shop window with longing, Edith would simply turn away and wrinkle her nose, unaffected by the fragile toy. But as she marvels at the rumbling of an engine, the same girls from before merely look at the mechanism with contempt and disgust.

Background: Edith was raised within a well respected Christian family. Growing up, all the attention and talk was almost always on her older sister. Alva was the literal definition of ladylike and alluring in her time: a well built, suitable young lady, fit to bear children; and a caring female who works well with children as well as household duties. Well informed about the gossip, Alva takes this as a new opportunity to lead a different boy to bed each week.

Her stepmother, a middle aged female who was rather round for a woman, only married Edith's father to feed off of Alva's newfound popularity. Always hungry for power and starving for fame, she's almost willing to do anything to increase her stature in society. While Edith's father mistakes this as ambition to do great things, Edith begs to differ. But what did he know? Her father, a general who worked for the military, buries himself in his work every day to avoid confronting his crumbling family.

Despite Alva and her stepmother being unsatisfied with their middle class ranking, Edith is content with her middle class life. Known well enough so that they wouldn't be the first choice when they're about to be robbed; yet not famous to the point where they became celebrities and lost all their privacy.

Other: In hopes of getting Edith well known as well, her stepmother frequently sends Edith to the big homes the richer girls to play with their exquisite dollhouses every afternoon.
