1910s: Cecil Stephens (@Enchantresses)
Name: Cecil Stevens
Age: 20
Sex: Male
Decade: Late 1910s
Appearance: A perfectly dapper young gentleman, Cecil has straight black hair that he likes to keep smoothed back when possible, and angular features that could be considered "handsome enough". He isn't the haughtiest of his coworkers, but at first glance, it would certainly seem that he holds himself in high regard. Something between a scowl and a smile has been permanently etched on to his face, though his hazel eyes are usually somewhat kinder.
There are things about Cecil that he tries his best to hide, however. Although he has tried many doctor's remedies, including taking up smoking, he's never been able to soothe the tremor in his hands, or the limp that has cursed his left leg for the past year.
Personality: At first, Cecil tends to come off as a bit cold, or arrogant even, though one could never accuse him of being self-involved. Despite the bite that often accompanies his words, and the sarcasm that often drips from his tongue, he's the first to take pity on a new employee, the first to defend the helpless or meek. Although the war seemed only to heighten this caring instinct, it's something that's been present ever since he was a little boy.
He's a warm soul, really, that Cecil. He cares very deeply about his family - his struggling father, his mother who's always had such a nervous disposition, the grandfather he was named for. And though he'd never in a hundred years admit it, he loves his co-workers (yes, even the oldest maid, Mildred) with the same fierceness as his family.
Background: Although Cecil grew up an only child to a farmer and his wife, he was well-provided for during his early years, and when he was old enough, applied for and earned a job working for an extremely wealthy family in the North of England.
Like most young men, however, he was drafted for the Great War and went off to fight for his country. He was injured - that's where he got that "blasted limp" - and was honorably discharged, sent home to recover. He never did end up fully recovering, and still retains the limp to this day. However, his former employers were kind enough to welcome him back with open arms, and though he works as a "mere footman", and the pay isn't what he'd like, he is grateful to have a job at all.
Other: Cecil still suffers from nightmares about the war, and startles extremely easily when it comes to loud noises - even the particularly noisy bang of a pot or pan can cause his breathing to quicken, and his hands to shake a bit more than they do already.
