Backstory: Around 70 years ago, the earth was destroyed by an alien. When the rest of the world ran, escaping to various space stations, Xadanar's grandfather stayed behind, determined to save the earth. Ultimately, he failed, barely managing to escape with his life. When he got to the space station and met his wife, he carried news of the destruction of earth with him. No one saw him as heroic for what he did- they only saw his failure. Xadanar grew up in an atmosphere full of people who mostly blamed his grandfather and, by extension, him and his family, for not saving earth. Xadanar saw it differently, though few others did. He saw his grandfather's heroism in risking his life to save the planet. People higher in authority understood that as well and were willing to take Xadanar on when he asked to join their space exploration program. However, most of the people he was learning with still disliked him and either picked on or ignored him for his grandfather's past. They blamed him for what they didn't have and he became a loner- though not entirely by choice. He refused to agree with them about his grandfather and willingly accepted their critism instead. While he was on the exploration program, he also had the opportunity to expand his knowledge of mechanics- something he'd always loved as a kid. He became good at fixing things and figuring out how things worked by taking them apart and putting them back together again. Around the third year he was in the exploration program, he first met Felix. The alien was the grandson of the creature that had destroyed earth. Felix was the decendant of the alien that had ruined Xadanar's grandfather's reputation and for a while, the two hated each other. Neither would admit that their grandparents had done anything wrong and they argued a lot. But he never truly hated Felix. They both understood what it was like to be rejected by the majority of society and left alone. Felix had it worse than Xadanar, which made him feel bad about being so angry with Felix at first. Eventually, the two became best friends. They still argue all the time and to most, it would appear they hated or at least disliked each other, but there's no malice behind the arguments. The two went through their training program together, until they were finally given their first assignment together and the space ship that Xadanar had trained on finally became his. Xadanar was given a crew of twenty men, along with Felix, and sent out on a one year mission to search out a planet that humans could inhabit (and also preferably one they wouldn't have to conquer). Taking the mission proved to be one of Xadanar's many mistakes when the crew mutinied just three days in. Felix and Xadanar barricaded themselves in the cockpit. Felix tried to keep them out and Xadanar attempted to pilot them to a place where they could- hopefully- escape. It didn't exactly go well.
Personality: He's the kind of guy who loves technology. He loves nothing more than to take something apart and fix it or upgrade it in some way. Despite his dyslexia, he's always been good at it and it gives him immense satisfaction to see a job well done. He pretends not to care what people say about him, but he does and it bothers him. He isn't easily provoked, but there have been moments where he couldn't stand it anymore. Most of the time he holds himself in check. He's terrible around women- all stammering, red-faced, and awkward. He loves old movies from when Earth hadn't been destroyed yet and is a major fan of Agents of Shield (thus the reason he named his ship Lola). He tends to argue a lot, mostly for fun, not because he's actually angry or annoyed. He's also determined to become a hero, which is a big reason why he's so long-suffering toward the people who constantly shame and bully him. He can understand people who have been bullied by others and loves to help when he can.
Magic/Powers: N/A
Weapon of Choice: I mean, if he's fighting, he'd much rather fight in Lola against other. 'Course, if he did get into a face-to-face fight, he'd probably be holding wrench or some sort of tool. They're pretty much the only things he can wield competently.
Strengths: He's an amazing mechanic- much better than he is at flying. He's also got a LOT of patience- especially with everything he deals with. On top of that, he's good at arguing and uses it for various purposes.
Weaknesses: He can't fight, except with his ship. He's also terrible with women and kinda inexperienced in general and dyslexic.
Captured: He was finally cleared for his first mission and piloted out into the unknown with his best friend Felix and a small crew. Their goal was to find an inhabitable planet. Instead they found a black hole and... well, things didn't go well. The rest of the crew disappeared and he was stranded in the middle of a city with Felix.
Greatest Fear: When his grandfather died, Xadanar vowed to find a new planet for the humans to inhabit and make everyone see that he isn't the failure they think he is. He wants to make his grandfather proud and fears he'll fail or not be good enough.
Insecurities: He always wanted to be a hero, like his grandfather, but he often looks at himself and wonders if he's cut out for being anything more than the failure everyone tells him he is. Of course, this just makes him more determined to prove them wrong, even if he's beginning to believe they really are right.
Loved Ones: His best friend, Felix, and his parents.
Realm They're From: A space station light years away from where earth used to be.
Fandom They're From: N/A
Token: His ship, LOLA.
Anything Else: He's a terrible pilot, honestly. For a guy who knows exactly how the ship works, you'd think he'd be better at it... but he isn't. Maybe it's the dyslexia.
