Appearance: His hair is dirty blonde and his eyes are ash gray. He's tall and broad-shouldered, with a scar down his left arm.

Backstory: When he was young, dragons killed his parents during an attack. He grew up without them, helped by the people of the village and mostly left alone. He determined to destroy all dragons and avenge his parents' deaths. He joined Stoick in his crusade to kill the dragons, only to watch Hiccup, his friends, and their dragons save everyone. Dragons became friends with the Vikings. At first, Kolfinn hated it and held onto his anger. Until he met his dragon. One day, when trying to escape the smothering presence of dragons at Berk, he took a row-boat out onto the ocean to think. That's when the Silver Phantom showed up. She swooped down from the clouds at incredible speed and snatched Kolfinn straight out of his boat. He thought the dragon was going to kill him, but instead it flew across the ocean to a mountainous island and showed him a cave. When he tried to go inside, he found a bunch of terrible terrors in the way. Curious to see why the dragon had brought him to the cave, he and the Silver Phantom chased the dragons away and ventured deeper. In the cave, he found a nest with a single egg. The Silver Phantom curled around the egg and conveniently forgot about Kolfinn until the egg hatched. As much as he hated dragons, the tiny baby Silver Phantom was too hard to resist when it insisted on sitting on him and sticking with him when he wandered the island. He spent a year there and the little dragon grew quickly. Kolfinn named him Onyx and the two became nearly inseparable. Onyx's mother didn't seem to mind and the three of them flew back to Berk when Onyx was old enough. When he got back, Kolfinn found out that Hiccup and a bunch of others had been searching for him for months before finally assuming he'd been killed somehow. Onyx grew quickly and his mother disappeared back into the clouds. Kolfinn never did figure out why she grabbed him, but by the end of it, he was glad she did.

Personality: He tends to hold onto things and doesn't take too well to authority, since he basically raised himself after his parents died. He'll be stubborn, but he's also kind and cares about people- and dragons now that he's finally forgiven them. He loves a good fight but refuses to put other people in danger if he can possibly avoid it.

Magic/Powers: N/A

Weapon of Choice: An axe

Strengths: He can toss around an axe like it weighs nothing, works well in teams, and discovered he has a knack for dragon training, once he actually tried.

Weaknesses: It usually takes him a long time to admit he was wrong about something, even when it's proven he was wrong. He holds onto things and obsesses about them at times. He also has some authority issues, since he's used to being his own parent, basically.

Captured: He was sleeping when when a dragon set his house on fire. When he ran outside, he ran straight into a net. The dragon that had set his house on fire flew away from the village and dropped him into the sea. When he sank to the bottom, the ocean disappeared and he landed, soaked and still covered in net, in the middle of Shinsengumi HQ.

Greatest Fear: Losing Onyx. At one point, if you'd told him that his best friend would be a dragon, he would have said you were crazy. Now he doesn't know what he'd do without Onyx. The dragon means everything to him- Onyx is the only family he has left.

Insecurities: If he's honest, he often fears that people look down on him because he's an orphan. Though they've never given him a reason to believe it, he can't help feeling like that's how they see things.
