Appearance: Kanaye has shoulder-length brown hair that he keeps in a ponytail, an adorable grin, and azure blue puppy eyes. His skin tone is browner and he's tall- around six feet. After years of training, his body has gotten strong. Many have called him handsome, but he isn't so sure about that.

Backstory: Kanaye only knows part of his background. He and his sister, Kyoka, believe they are orphans. No one remembers who their parents were or how they got there. The Northern Tribe just took them in lovingly, especially when they grew into benders. They were taught all they know about bending from the training they received by one of the elders of their village, Kator. They learned some from experience and experimentation. Although they do not know as much as they wish, they both are innovative and very good at the bending they do know. The history behind Kanaye and his sister is only known to two others: Ming-Hua and Noatak aka Amon, their parents. It may seem like a strange pairing, but it didn't last long. As Noatak began to build his reputation as a 'farm boy', he met fellow Waterbender, Ming-Hua. Her power and interesting deformity attracted Noatak. She, too, was interesting in his unique abilities to bloodbend. She herself did not learn this method as his bending powers were a secret. They began a short-lived romantic relationship. Soon their independent natures and dark motivations broke them apart. However, Ming-Hua was already pregnant. After delivering triplets, she had to escape Noatak who wished to raise them as weapons. Out of spite rather than love for her children, she tried to save them from his clutches. She almost didn't escape his bloodbend but with her strength, she was able to save herself and two of her children. Noatak was left with the third baby to raise as his first follower of the Equalists. He believed after his heartbreak from not only his family, but Ming-Hua as well, meant that the benders needed to be eradicated. He raised his daughter to waterbend and bloodbend while also teaching her how to fight without her powers. They learned how to Chi block and her father learned to remove the ability to bend from any bender. Amon kept the secret that he and his daughter were benders, and even went so far as to disguise her so no one would know who she really was. Kayane and Kyoka, however, were taken by Ming-Hua to the Northern Tribe. She was no mother and could not love them enough to raise them herself, so she did the most loving thing she was able to do: leave them with good, wise people to grow up innocent of their dark parentage.

Personality: He's protective of his friends and family. You don't want to get on his bad side, because he won't hesitate to make you regret messing with him. And heaven help you if you do something to Kyoka. Aside from that, he's a nice guy and loves animals. He's a pretty social guy, but not interested in relationships that go further than friendship when it comes with the women. He won't pick a fight unless he has a good reason, but he won't back down from one either. He likes doing things to challenge himself, enjoys puzzles, and loves learning new things. He won't abandon someone in danger, but he won't chose them over Kyoka either. He can be clueless when it comes to girls liking him, but when he figures it out he's always careful to hurt them as little as possible. Kanaye won't avoid work, but he would prefer to hang out with friends or train with Kyoka.

Magic/Powers: His waterbending abilities. He specializes in ice abilities and likes to combine his attacks or defenses with his sister's when he can.

Weapon of Choice: His powers, since they're very convenient. Usually he keeps an ice knife with him as well.

Strengths: He's very good at waterbending and learns quickly. He also has considerable skill with knives, since he uses them as one of his main weapons and trains with them regularly. Aside from that he's also very good at pushing people's buttons and making his opponents lose it (as long as they don't do anything to Kyoka, that is...).

Weaknesses: He's can be easily provoked when it comes to Kyoka and eating his cooking might very well kill you- he's just that bad. He's terrible with strategy. Normally his battle plans consist of attacking straight on, so he let's Kyoka take that part. He's also a bit too honest for his own good, which has gotten him in trouble multiple times. His ability to get himself into sticky situations is also worth noting. Somehow, he manages to find trouble in the most simple of situations and usually at the most inconvenient times.

Captured: He and Kyoka were on a moutain with Kator learning a special technique when a hole into the spirit world opened (at least that's what he thinks it was). Kator was knocked off the mountain and while trying to save him, the twins fell into the hole. He doesn't know if Kator was rescued or not.

Greatest Fear: When he was around ten years old, he started asking a lot of questions about his parents. Eventually, one of the older woman in the village explained the circumstances behind their being left with the tribe. She told him who had left him beind and he later found out a lot more about his mother's personality. Since then, he's been terrified of becoming evil like she was. Subconsciously, he overcompensates for that fear by being extremely nice to pretty much everyone.

Insecurities: Kanaye believes he looks too much like his mother and he hates it. He wants nothing to do with Ming-Hua and wishes he looked more like his father. The ironic thing is that his father was just as bad as his mother was- although he doesn't know that.

Loved Ones: Kyoka, his sister.
