Appearance: Iva has long wavy blonde hair that reaches to the middle of her back. There's a scar on her left cheek where a blade cut her. Her blue eyes shine bright with interest and you'll often see a smile on her face. When she inhales stormlight, her whole body glows faintly. Her brown eyes turn blue when she summons Ember as a shard blade. Her hands are calloused from years of work and practice with swordsmanship. She's a small woman and quite innocent-looking, but she's strong and more than capable of causing trouble if she wishes.

Backstory: She spoke the first ideal and bonded Ember when she was sixteen. Before that, her life consisted of monotonous field work. The war with the Parshmen was going strong when she bonded Ember and there were plenty of men in her village that joined the armies. She made for the shattered plains as well, but for a different reason- she wanted a life that consisted of more than just working in the fields. When she got to the shattered plains, she joined some of the camps and helped out in a bar. She hid her powers from others, but spent hours in the chasms practicing and learning. She spent years in the shattered plains, learning to summon Ember as a shardblade and to fight with her- this part with the help of a swordsman from the camp who she convinced to help her (he never did find out why she had a shardblade and she made him swear not to tell anyone). Then one day she saw Kaladin and Bridge Four training in the chasms where she usually went. She watched Kaladin practicing his surgebinding. She almost asked him about it, but she never got the chance. She had to work at the bar to stick around and Kaladin never showed up. Later on, when everyone moved to Urithiru and so many died in the Everstorm, Iva got lost in the fray. She ended up wandering the many halls of Urithiru with Ember, unsure of what to do from there. Then Dalinar began searching for other knights radiant, so she finally revealed her secret. From there, she ended up helping to use to oathgates and befriended many of the soldiers, though she never did end up with any squires.

Personality: She's not a loner in the slightest. Before she bonded Ember, she made friends with nearly everyone in her village and thrived around other people. After she bonded Ember, she became more of a loner, but more by neccessity than because she wanted to. She's got a kind, loving personality and often doesn't understand sarcasm. She looks at the world as a place of opportunity, but has seen enough destruction on the battlefield to understand that not everyone is good and not everyone puts value in life the way they should. She remembers the faces of all the people on the battlefield who died, Parshmen and Alethi alike.

Magic/Powers: When she has stormlight, she can ignore friction, cause the regrowth of certain things (like healing wounds).

Weapon Of Choice: Her weapon of choice is Ember, who coalesces as a shardblade most of the time, but can be other weapons if she needs to be.

Strengths: It's hard to catch her, since she's incredibly good at Abrasion (ignoring friction). She's also become very good at wielding a shardblade, after years of practice and careful instruction. Also, she has perfect recall.

Weaknesses: She'll help anyone who needs it, friend and enemy alike, if they're wounded. She's not stupid, but she's perhaps a bit too kind for her own good. If she doesn't have stormlight, she can't use her powers, which means she can't use Abrasion. She's lost when she's on her own. She thrives around other people, but alone she finds she thinks too much.

Captured: She was on her way to open the oathgate for another group of refugees, but she got lost- Urithiru is a pretty big place, after all. While she was wandering around trying to find her way out of the place (thanks for your help, Ember), she found what looked like a secret passage. It wasn't, and she got stuck at the Shinsengumi HQ.

Greatest Fear: Messing something up and breaking her bond with Ember. Of all her friends, Ember is the one that Iva trusts the most. Losing Ember would destroy her.

Insecurities: Iva often believes she's worthless. She doesn't understand her purpose in the world and doesn't believe she'll ever make a difference.

Loved Ones: She's the type to know everyone and cares about each of them. However, Ember especially is important to her.
