Bodily health: fit and agile.

Mental health: dangerously unstable. I would advise you to remove Cardinal from the experiment immediately and draft a new candidate.

There's something messed up about this kid, I'm telling you. When he first came in for the interview (the first part of the psychological test), he seemed polite and friendly enough, if rather shy at first. We had a pleasant enough discussion, talking about his family, why he volunteered, etc. Below are some links with his school file with notes from teachers, and most of them concur with me: he's intelligent and hardworking enough- sometimes. More on that later.

Around 20 minutes into the interview, Cardinal began shouting about how we had no right to know his person business. He jumped out of his chair, and would have assaulted the interviewer if I hadn't called for security for intervene. We popped him in a temporary cell for the night, and that's where he is now, awaiting verdict.

Did you call his family in to explain? Have you tried questioning him? There must be an explanation for this behavior; from the information you provided, he doesn't seem like the type to change his behavior so quickly! You must find out more about this; he intrigues me, and you know I like an interesting contestant.

We have done as you advised and asked his mother to come in, which she did, looking worn. Seems she's had this talk before. Apparently her son has a disorder; I'd never heard of it before today, but there you have it. Dissociative identity disorder, or DID. In short, it means Cardinal believes he has two different identities living inside his brain!

He calls them Chryss and Ash, apparently, and when either one is "in charge," he refuses to answer to the other name. Chryss is the one who's usually dominant; he's who I first met. Ash is truculent, easily angered, and dangerous.

I now repeat what I stated before: we cannot include this maniac in the project.

No. That is my final word on the matter; Cardinal stays. It will be simply fascinating watching him interact with others, and, if he wins, I believe he will do very well as a soldier.

Family: parents who hold respectable positions in their town, a 16-year-old sister named Aldera, and a 10-year-old brother (Josh). Chryss is generally on good(ish) terms with all of them, but Ash picks fights constantly with anyone who is willing, usually Aldera.

Chryss's DID has caused Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal plenty of trouble over the years, from paying for vases broken by Ash, to getting called to Chryss's school because Ash punched yet another kid, and it is safe to say that Aldera's reputation hadn't been helped by Chryss's problem, either, a fact that she frequently reminds him of.

Reason He Volunteered: Chryss hopes that perhaps putting Ash in an environment where being violent was an advantage would be like taking the lid off a boiling pot- it could take some of the pressure off and mellow him. Plus, what 13-year-old doesn't dream of fame and glory?

Weapons He Would Use: Chryss has (extremely reluctantly) used a gun before, accompanying his father and older sister to the shooting range where they sometimes spent Sunday afternoons. He'd hated it there, though- it was loud and confusing, and Chryss had despised the feeling of the gun in his hand, the knowledge that he could kill a person with this small, heavy piece of metal. Still, his aim is decent, and he can use several types of guns comfortably.

In addition, Ash is never afraid of a fistfight, and he is somewhat experienced in the art of fighting from picking brawls with older boys at school.

Weaknesses: Chryss almost definitely won't have the strength of mind to straight-out murder a person, if that's what the competition calls for; he will always seek the peaceful way out of a dangerous situation, even when logic calls for combat as the answer. Ash, on the other hand, is exactly the opposite- when he is in control, a situation that could have been solved with a few tactful words could disintegrate into an all-out riot.

Strengths: Chryss is creative and intelligent, and is always careful to examine all options before acting. Sometimes this could be a weakness- waiting too long for execution could be fatal, but other times it is a great advantage. Ash, to the contrary, is unafraid to use his physical strength to his advantage, and wouldn't blink an eyelid at killing a human being.
