Personality: All the people of the Citadel know that the life of a champion of the ring is not for the faint of heart. Many a weak-willed champion have come and gone, leaving only the strongest and bravest to win the adoration of the crowd. Rune is no exception. She has earned her place as a favorite through her ferocity in battle and is well loved by citizens for her confident swagger. What the people of the Citadel do not know is that their beloved champion does not in fact love them back. Her smiles hide the hatred and rage simmering just below the surface, and the audience cannot see the shaking of her hands as she slaughters innocent after innocent for their approval. To show fear in the ring is to die, and Rune has lived too long to let her facade slip. Even now, as she travels from city to city sick with dread that the masters will find her, she keeps her face stoic and hides her trembling hands beneath her cloak.

Appearance: Unlike the people of the Citadel, The Barbarian hails from the northern lands where the sunlight cannot reach and all the people are pale as ghosts. While her skin has darkened with the years, her hair, cut short so as not to be a hindrance in battle, is unnaturally white and her eyes an icy blue that threaten to freeze all those caught in her piercing stare. While many champions don sandals and loincloths to combat the heat, The Barbarian's chosen armor consists of loose linen trousers and long boots, a loincloth, and a cropped breastplate all made of leather and lined with fur. Metal plating would only be a hindrance, and an unnecessary one at that, as her berserker rage dulls the pain of any injuries she might receive. The most foreign of all, however, are her blue markings, which she wore only once to a match and were thought to be caused by a temporary bout of insanity that is still whispered about to this day.

Backstory: As the Game Masters would tell it, The Barbarian was rescued from the savage north as a child before she was put to work to better serve her new home. She was brought to the Citadel as a beast, snarling and snapping at anyone who dared approach, but the perseverance of her kindly benefactor transformed her into a noble champion of the ring. As Rune would tell it, she was taken from her homeland to a foreign place of heat and sand where she spent years learning to kill for the bloodthirsty crowd's entertainment. A new champion from a land called Nuhan where the people were rich and the king powerful. Seizing her chance during an uprising, Rune escaped and has since been on the run for Nuhan in an attempt to gain the King's amnesty.

Weapons/Skills: Rune's people were said to be descended from bears, and as such the gods gave them bear-like strength in battle. Her rage allows Rune to become a nearly unstoppable opponent, singular in focus and stronger than any mortal. With her large double-bladed ax, Rune is perfectly capable of splitting full trees with just one swipe and obliterating her opponents within seconds. However, her rage takes a heavy toll and while dulled pain is useful for the heat of battle, it is possible for a berserker to die in the middle of a fight from injuries they did not know they had received.
