Adrigole One: Shahin Hashemi [@TheCatKing]
He lives as a paradox made flesh: the guardian without a ward, the honor of a broken blade, the blind eye that sees all.
♔Character Name: Shahin Hashemi
♔Gender: Man
♔Age: 42
♔Birthplace: Erenad, Adrigole
♔Physical Appearance: The unwise man lacking in perception looks at Shahin and sees little—a man of middling height, dull black hair in an inexpert cut, his left eye covered with a plain eyepatch of black cloth. His skin is a brown which could hail from any number of cities or nations across Agricole and Lemaria alike. A slightly hooked nose hints at his mother's identity as a merchant from a land afar; his eyes are hers as well, a brown so dark as to seem black in most lightings and lined with weariness. He is not handsome, nor ugly, nor exceptional in any way— in truth, the eye seems to skate over him without taking any real note of his presence. There is nothing to fear, they say, for there is nothing to see.
They, of course, are not wise. The wise look to his hands and see a swordsman's calluses on strong, practiced fingers. They see the worn handle of a sword in a brown leather sheath, with the tell-tale glimmer of spellwork on gray metal when drawn. They see a stern mouth that tightens ever so slightly when presented with a lie, the uncanny grace which hides the capacity for blinding speed. The wise spot scars on his hands, his legs, his back that spread like frost on a glass pane. That nothing is seen, they note, does not mean that there is nothing to fear.
♔Personality: Shahin is a man detached from the world around him. Conversation is no strength of his— those individuals unsatisfied by curt pleasantries are rebuffed with blunt words and sharp steel. He is a consummate pragmatist in every aspect save one, and considers underhanded maneuvers in combat or life to be entirely acceptable, even expected. This outlook, however, does not extend to one thing: outright lies. Shahin detests lies with a chill fury, and will flatly refuse to interact with a being who directly lies to him. He holds a general dislike for people in general, Elusians in particular, and Elusian knights even more specifically than that; Elusian knights are one of the few categories of being he would go out of his way to undermine on principle.
♔Background: As far as Shahin is concerned, his life began a year ago, in an Elusian forest far from the beaten track. It was there that he dragged himself, beaten and bleeding from whips and knives alike, fully expecting to die beneath the trees.
It was there that the Hidden People found him, that their food sustained him and their magic bound his wounds. It was there that his suffering and recovery entertained their fey curiosity, that they coaxed the life back into his limbs so once again he moved with the speed and skill of before. After he recovered fully, their lord and lady offered him him a chance to bargain before taking his leave. He asked them for one favor, whatever the cost: that he would always see through lies and deceit. When he was informed that the boon would cost him his left eye, he plucked it from the socket without another word.
♔Skills: Shahin's skill with a blade is equal to all but the most skilled and experienced of knights, and he scorns the sense of chivalry that prohibits foul play, adding another element of lethality. He wields a blade forged in his home of Erenad and enchanted to be supernaturally durable and sharp. Moreover, what the Hidden People stole in depth perception they more than made up for in their bargain to him: Shahin is magically alerted whenever someone speaks a lie in his presence, and magical illusions dissipate if he stares at them for too long. His tap-dancing skills are negligible.
