spoilers for Origins, of course.

something something origins!Box being an actual Owl that was around the time that the Old Builders were around, watched their fell, and yet still stuck around to watch the World grow and improve.
he read a lot of their books and learned their forbidden magic, and started to become.. basically a God lmao.

even tho by all accounts he was already a God. he was "born" by the Universe at the same time as the Overworld/Reality was born. he was around the time Minecraft first released, he saw Everything, as an lone Owl. other Owls started to be made by the Universe as Minecraft started to be more like.. what we see now, but he Was alone. all alone, with only the Universe to turn to.

the Owl loves learning about the World it recites in, all of it. it learns, and learns, and learns. it learns about the World, even before the Ancient Builders were even born. it has tried, tested, played with everything. and it loves it. it was lonely for awhile, sure, but it has learned so much within that time.. it hardly cared.
that doesn't mean he didn't feel lonely, tho.

and then the Ancient Builders came around, and the Universe gave the lone Owl more of its kind. the Owl loves its kind, it loves and learn and play, and it watches the Builders from far away. expect the cyan shirt Builder that loved to feed him and its kind, that loved to build.

it continues learning despite not being alone anymore, the other owls learn with him. he's the oldest, after all.

the Owl saw everything.
it saw how the cyan builder slaughtered everything in his path, it saw how the other Builders scream and ran. it remembered hiding its kind because it knew it wasn't safe for any of them. it knew.

it remembers how the Builder saw it for the final time, and how he asked what it knew. how he asked for everything it knew.
it never gave him any of it.

they're all gone. the Owl never saw their departure. it never had the chance to learn about the Builders personally, how they learn and react. it has only learned from the cyan Builder, and it was only so much info.

so, when it starts to see people (not humans, unlike the Builders. but humanoid.), it wanted to learn more about them. the other owls want to, as well. but again, you can only learn so much about a species that you're not apart of.

so it asked the Universe, like it always does,
"Creator, how could I learn what's it like, to be them? To be a Human?"
and it answers,
"To become one of Them."
so, it asks,
"May I become one? For even just a year?"
and the Universe answers,
"Of course. If you ever want to return Home, We are Here."

so, the Owl was given a Humanoid Form. and it choose the name "Box" for itself.
and was let out into the world, with a promise to the Universe that it won't tell its secrets. that it could take everything away from it if it so ever utter a word of its secrets.

the starbones being one of the first people he met, ironically enough. the people who knew the most about humanity, being the first that The Owl who wish to learn all about it Met.
they learn how to survive in this world together. Box learning to control his wings that aren't used to the Human Body, how he savors the cooked meat he never bothered to try and cook. he understands why such violence was caused just for one of these meat.

the owls stay hidden due to them knowing that the humanoids can't be trusted, expect for Box himself. because they know it's one of them, and forever will be. he was just given a human form for the time being.
they visit him a lot, and he does so too, just on the lesser amount. he doesn't want anyone to know where they're hiding ofc.

things happen as it does in canon for awhile.

then Butterz killed Box, and the owls couldn't bear to stay hidden anymore.

some of them came out of hiding to fly to his grave, screaming at anyone who dear try and get close to it.
they have seen him die and come back, all by natural means. his respawn was always by the Universe, since he wasn't a Player. he hasn't been killed yet, and so as it finally happened, the owls feared for their Elder(the Owl is considered as such to their kind due to its age and wisdom.)

as the Owl waits for its respawn, disappointed in Butterz clear as the skies, the Universe asks it as question,
"Do you wish for the Webling's suffering?"
surprised, the Owl answered,
"No! Why would I?"
silence, as the Universe cradle their first creation in their grasp,
"Do you not feel anger? Fear?"
chuckling, the Universe's first creation answers, reminding them,
"No, of course not. It's apart of his nature. It's why I'm here, am I not?"
the Universe laughs with its creation,
"We suppose so."

and so the Owl, Box, was bought back. only to find his kind angrily screaming at Butterz, at his team, in a language only the Universe and Him understood.

he giggles at their concern and call for them, immediately they went to him. asking, fearful that he was hurt, if he was okay. he answers that he's fine, he'll always be, and wonders why they're all here. unminding of the stares given his way, they answer that they miss him. they want to see him, see the world with him, and he asks in tune, if they're willing to be away from their safety for it. they answer, so long they're with him, they'll do so. and he can't deny them their curiosity, can he?

he forgot that there were others till Snas came up to ask him about his kind, asking if he understood them. the Owl answers,
"Of course! They're my kind, why wouldn't I?"
"Yeah that's fair," Snas accepted, and continues to ask more, and how could the Owl resist? so, Box ignored how TScott yelled at the other team, till he couldn't anymore.

sighing, he looks over at TScott,
"Calm down, leave them be."
astonished by his calmness, he says,
"But Butterz killed you!"
"Out of anger," he adds, "We pushed him, it was only fair."
silence fell, and the Owl decided that their talk was over.

"Go home," he says, the younger owls playing with his hair, "You all are clearly upset, take some time to calm down. We can decide what to do with the Dragon another time."
"Why are you speaking like that?" The Dragonborn asks, almost seeming.. scared?
".. like what?" the Owl asks in tune, unknowing of how he's talking like he's talking to the Universe.
"Like some- fancy boss." the Dragonborn answered, and the Owl pauses. "I think Butterz suplex Box a little too hard." the Voidling chuckled, and the Ow- Box wants to return to the Soil, to the Universe.

"End of discussion." Box told them, and left.

dragon revival still happens. this time, the Dragon revived seem more.. lively. she comes down to playfully bite Sam's hair(fur?), growls as she answers Sam's questions, picking Box up like he's her child and playfully drag him around. in a way, she's also apart of the Universe, and it's their way of interacting with their inhabitants.

Box still wants to know what Rinzler would still, this time with an almost child like curiousity, unknowing of what's going through his mind. so when he fled, the Owl was.. disappointed. like in canon.

and he would disappear to go read in his library for awhile. some of his kind would've gone with him, some would've stayed behind to guard his stuff. TScott & Red would've tried to ask the owls where Box went but.. well, language barrier.

the Universe have made the Owl the God of Knowledge long before the Ancient Builders even was a thought, and it lived up to its title in the time he was in the library and even before this. getting to finally stretch their wings to their full potential (their other wings get to feel the air after so long, he gets to pick up things without the bother of lifting his arms), he learned and played with his kind that came with him. learned the last we're sort to get rid of the Dragon within Sam, even though the "spell" was etched within his nature. he has always had that power, he used it once and never again. even when he always knew he could bring them back.

the cyan Builder isn't a problem anymore, he knew. it was never written, however, so none knew that the Builder isn't around no longer. he can't tell them, because he can't risk showing himself. because he wouldn't get the luxury of knowing what it's like to be on their level.

they'll learn eventually, after destroyin' the Dragon within Sam and having to rid of Rinzler for good. he'll have to open the Portal within the Deep Dark, he'll have to return to the Universe eventually, he has always known and he never held any anger. so it's best to just.. disappear, with no clear answer on what happened to him, then to tell them who he is. it's something only the Universe himself would ever know. he promised.

so, he plays along.

extra stuff time!!!

most of this au's storyline follows canon, but the world being reseted was never by Liver. it was the Universe itself, knowing that without the dragon egg, an essential part of the Universe, being gone forever. the World would start to rot, and well.. everyone would suffer. so they did the best thing they could've ever done, Reset it All.

Box does enter the portal and find the last remaining Ancient Builders. Herobrine doesn't exist because he was Removed by Box by the time he tries to follow the Builders into the Deep Dark Portal. he does get to leave any time he wishes but since the Universe had to Reset the World (the owls are safe, dw. the Universe bought them in with Box.), Box decided to stay within the Deep Dark dimension and learn everything about it. Soul magic, Sculk, the Ancient Builders, All Of It.

he does pop in to chat with the Universe and the other Gods from time to time tho. Tron is funny to hang around, LJohn is basically his bestie and Liver is a very distant uncle. he likes hanging out with all of them. they all live in the in-between dimension that exists between non-existence and existence. you get to go crazy with what u do in there, very fun!!

yes, Box bein' referred to as "The Owl" is in fact, what he's really called. he doesn't have a name, never needed one, so he never gave or was given a name. he gave himself a name when given a Humanoid Form because he knew the other Humanoids would need one.

the other Gods didn't really know what Box is expect for LJohn, because he was basically the most active, he picked some stuff up. everyone else is ignorant to Box's relation to the Universe and his Godhood till the World basically Ended. he hid well xP

LJohn and Box talk to eachother all fancy-like for the funnies. it makes everyone else there feel confused and it makes them crack up every time. they're very much best friends in this AU x3
