Aurora is the youngest daughter of the Grantham family, and has of course grown up at Downton Abbey with her sisters. She however, has always been the quiet one in the family. She was always a sweet girl, she has always been reluctant when it came to socialising. She was always different than the rest of her family, which caused her to be distant.

Music, has always been the one and only thing that made sense to her along with reading fairytales. She had always wanted to escape her reality, even though her life wasn't the worse, she had always felt like an outsider even though born into the family. She had always wanted to be a musician as a pianist and a violinist. Although never did she speak of it cause she knew they wouldn't accept it. 

However, when her older sister Sybil heard of it, she supported her dream and had helped her in learning how to play the violin and the piano. She was severely grateful, since she seemed to be the only person who really saw her. 

At the age of sixteen, she had started to hear things that weren't there, along with smell things that no one else did. It was freaking her out of course, but with the war going on, she decided not to speak of it since there were far worse things happening in their world. Until, Mary, Sybil and her Mother noticed there was something wrong and she came clean about it. 

She had been amongst the people to get the Spanish Flu, and it had worsened her mental condition and made her more distant than she was before. She had started to play the piano for the soldiers at Downton when the house was turned into such and she enjoyed herself.
