thirty-four

"I don't want to do this today."

Harry smiles softly, his thumb running over her knuckles. "Trust me, neither do I. I hate seeing them take you back there where I can't see you or know if you're okay. That, and now I have to worry about Gemma and the baby in the same day. I'm sorry that you have to do this, sweetheart."

Aurelia frowns deeply because she knows that Gemma's going to have the baby soon and that she won't be the first one to get to hold her little girl like they'd planned. "I wanted to be there, Harry."

His hand caresses her cheek and he gently wipes a few tear away. He understands where she's coming from completely, "I know sweetheart, I know. But even if you miss it, which you might not, you're still going to be there for that beautiful little girl and that's what's important."

Aurelia smiles softly as his familiar lips meet with her forehead.

The nurse nods to him to let him know that they're going to take her back now. Harry gives her hand a squeeze before he gently lets their fingers fall apart. "I love you, everything will be alright sweetheart."

He doesn't see her again for another three hours, and when he does she's fast asleep.

"Aurelia, sweetheart, wake up! There's someone very special here to see you!" Harry coos softly as he rocks their adorable little girl in his arms. She's so very sweet and tiny and he loves her so much even though he's just met her for the very first time.

Aurelia moans lightly, her head hurts and the drugs feel heavy again. But she heard what he said and she forces herself to open her eyes.

"Oh my God."

Harry looks at her quizzically as their little girl continues to suck on his finger, "Is everything alright, sweetheart?"

Aurelia shakes her head quickly because she can see. She can see! She knows that it's impossible, so it has to be some sort of miracle that will vanish soon, but she can see!

"You're so handsome...she's so beautiful! Oh, Harry, she's so beautiful. Can I hold her?"

Tears are streaming down her face, but she doesn't dare wipe them because she's afraid that, if she blinks or does the wrong thing, that she'll go back to being blind and she wants to see the two of them for as long as she can. Harry's not perplexed anymore and he beams as he nods and hands their tiny little girl to her mother.

"You can see!? How? How is that possible!?"

Aurelia shakes her head as she looks down at the little baby girl with so much love. "I don't know, but Harry, she's beautiful. She's so beautiful."

Harry watches with tears in his eyes. Somehow, Aurelia's able to see again and the look on her face as she looks at their daughter is the most beautiful thing that he's ever seen. This time, Aurelia watches him take a few pictures and she can't hide how overjoyed she is, even if the drugs are heavy in her bloodstream.

"Did you name her already?" Her voice is soft and almost angelic as she speaks with their tiny little bundle of joy in her arms, her blue eyes raking in every single detail that they can before her sight is taken away from her again.

Harry shakes his head and steps closer to the bed, "No, I wanted you to be sure and to meet her first."

Aurelia continues to beam as she lets their sweet little girl suck on her index finger, "Thank you."

She finally looks up and the full weight of his appearance hits her like a bullet to the chest. She swears that she stops breathing for a good while and that her heart picks up rapidly. He looks exactly like she dreamed that he would look like and so much better in reality.

His eyes are so beautiful and she wants to stare into them all day and learns every change that overcomes them with his moods. His hair is lovely as well, although, it is a bit girlish, but it suits him, and, God, everything about him in general is captivating. His smile looks like the sun and the moon rolled into one and, God, those dimples are still as deep as she remembers them.

He's by no means perfect, but he's perfect to her and he has been long before she'd been lucky enough to see him. Her thoughts start to wander and she blushes because it's very inappropriate with their little girl in her arms and in the room in general.

Harry notices and he can't help the smirk that rises to his lips, "Curious now?"

Aurelia nods and continues to gently rock their beautiful little girl in her arms. "Yes. Darcy, I want to name her Darcy Marie Styles. She's beautiful, just like her daddy."

Harry smiles and pulls out his phone to show her quite a few things. He's going to show her all that he can while she can still see, especially how very, very beautiful that she is.

"You're beautiful too, Aurelia. More beautiful than I think you realize. Take a look."

He scrolls through his photographs slowly for her, considering that she's holding Darcy. He has trouble hiding his smile every time that her eyes light up as she looks at photos of the two of them and the places that they've been to. Harry's taken so many photos and he's right, she thinks that they're breathtaking and, for once in her life, she finally feels like she's completely beautiful.

His love has made her feel beautiful, but this...this is all encompassing and it's wonderful, he's wonderful. His hands move the screen again and she coughs loudly at the inappropriate picture that she's certain is his.

She has no idea why he took a picture or why it's still on his phone, but she's kind of glad that he did. Sure, she knows what a penis looks like, but she's never seen his before. Aurelia's very impressed to see what she's been too blind to see. "Wow..."

Aurelia blushes and Harry does the same, taking his time to lock his screen and return the phone to its spot in his pants pocket. "Sorry, I was uh... I was hoping that you'd actually get to see that someday, I guess. Worked out pretty well, huh?"

Aurelia laughs and continues to smile at him. "I suppose that it did. I don't know why I can see you right now, but I want you to know that you're...heavenly. For some reason I had a hard time believing that you were as 'sexy' as you claimed to be, but I certainly believe you now and I still love you so very, very much."

Harry laughs and gently places a stray strand of hair behind her ear. He's looking at her like she's the reason that he exists and, God, does that make her feel wonderful.

"Will you please kiss me before this wonderful thing disappears?"

Harry complies without hesitation, leaning in carefully so that he doesn't smash little Darcy. He stops just as their lips brush one another, only to smile and whisper, "I love you Aurelia."

Just like she thought, the moment that he kisses her is when everything goes dark again. It's something that was too good to be true from the start, but she thanks God every day for the gifts that he's given her, despite the fact that he'd taken her sight away again.

Aurelia isn't as bothered by it as she should be because she's gotten the chance to see her family at least once in her lifetime and that's more than she could ever ask for. The doctors have no explanation for why she was able to see like that, but she knows and she's incredibly grateful.

The months pass quickly from then on and she's so very happy because she's finally a mommy.

Aurelia's sitting on the living room floor and playing with Darcy, when Harry decides to ruin her moment. He always feels bad when it's time for Darcy to take a nap because Aurelia is so very happy with her.

Harry sits down cross-legged beside her and kisses her cheek. "She's adorable, just like her mummy."

Aurelia blushes because he's still so sweet to her, even when he's dead tired from Darcy's fits of wailing randomly during the night.

"You too, you know. It's nap time, isn't it?"

She frowns slightly as she twirls a wooden block with the letter C painted on it in her hand.

Harry reaches his arms out and pulls her close to him, his lips pressing to her cheek and making her smile. "It is. I'm sorry. I thought that you might want to put her to sleep this time, so I waited a little longer than I probably should have."

Harry knows that she loves to spend as much time as possible with their sweet little girl and he let them play for an hour longer than he was supposed to. He couldn't help it. Aurelia's always been beautiful to him, but when little Darcy is introduced to the picture, she's absolutely radiant.

Aurelia laughs softly, "And that is why I don't want you to be a single parent."

Harry shrugs and laughs with her before he helps her up and picks up their little girl who giggles at the action.

He makes a face at her and asks, "What's so funny?"

Aurelia smiles smugly to herself, "Probably you."

Harry playfully rolls his eyes, "Why would that be?"

Aurelia shrugs and her lips roll in as she smiles. If he doesn't know, she isn't going to tell him. "You tell me."

Darcy continues to giggle and wave her little arms up and down as Harry examines her and her mother carefully.

"Oooh, I get it. I'm not actually funny looking or anything, she's just a daddy's girl. Aren't you sweetie?"

Aurelia rolls her eyes because that's not what she meant at all. "That's not what I was getting at, but alright, if you say so."

Harry kisses her, careful not to squish Darcy as he does so. Aurelia's hands immediately splay on his chest because he's taken her by surprise. "Clever. But I'm still gonna say that she likes me better than you because she cries when you take her away from me. She doesn't do that when I take her from you."

Harry shrugs and lowers his head to kiss her again, "Maybe I want her to be a mummy's girl."

Aurelia pouts because he said that she could put her down for her nap this time and he still has her in his arms. She would do it most of the time if she could, but she can't see, so Harry gets to do it more often than not. "Please let me have her, you put her to sleep all the time."

Harry kisses Darcy's little forehead and hands her over to her mummy, "Happy now?"

Aurelia nods as Darcy clings to her and starts to pull on her hair with her tiny fist, trying to get some in her mouth to 'chew' on.

"C'mon sweetie, it's nappy time, you're favorite." She coos as Harry takes her hand and leads her up the stairs. He wants things to stay like this forever. Once that sweet little girl grows up, he knows that she'll break his heart just like her mother. Except, when she leaves him it will be because she's found someone of her own to love, because she will be all grown up. He wants her to stay little because, as long as she's little, Aurelia is around and, as long as she's little, he will always have something to keep him happy and way from missing his love.

Aurelia gets Darcy to go to sleep in a record five minutes as Harry holds her waist from behind. She loves the way that he does that because it makes things so much more special to her for reasons that she can't quite explain.

She sets their sleeping little one down and sighs happily as Harry's grip tightens around her, his lips meeting with the exposed skin of her collarbone. "I wish that you could see her."

Aurelia hums, she wants that too, but just having Darcy is enough for her. She's so precious and sure, she's a little fussy from time to time, but that only seems to bother Harry because he's the one that has to tend to her more often than not.

He loves her so much though, even if she keeps him up for endless nights and even though she spits up on him far more than she ever spits up on Aurelia. Darcy's definitely a mama's girl and its adorable despite how much it's going to hurt her later on.

"I do too. She's adorable awake and I can't even imagine how precious she is asleep. She's getting so big; I think you feed her too much."

Harry laughs and noisily kisses her cheek, which prompts her to giggle. "Yeah, I'm sure that's it, Aurelia."
