I got to the hospital
As fast as I could go.
How was Rolanda?
I had to know.

She was in a car accident.
Someone ran the red light.
She was in a coma,
She had to fight.

When she was laying on the hospital bed
All battered
I swear I heard the sound
Of my heart shattered.

She looked so helpless,
So alone.
In the battle for her life,
She was on her own.

I sat next to her
And began to cry.
One question running through my mind
Was why?

She stayed in a coma
For nearly two weeks.
I stayed by her side
I would barely sleep.

The minute she opened her eyes
I was filled with joy and relief.
Anything could of happened to her
All I had was hope and belief.

She needed time to recover
But other than that she was fine.
I was proud to call
That incredible woman mine.

Her accident made me realize
That life was short.
Soon after her recovery
We got married in court.

I was finally in a place
I wanted to be.
No longer chained down
I was finally free.
