Words

How do words become words?

Who attaches meaning to the sounds that our minds put together as s words?

There is a specific reason for my mind to formulate those questions.

My Dad used a word all of my life that I was sure that he had made up..

In my life, including through today, heard ANYONE use his made up word.

The word is flub...

Should I need to spell it out for you, then here we go.

He'd say things like, "If you keep on you're going to flub up!!!", or " You sure flubbed that up!!!", or maybe "Keep flubbing around!!!".

Mama would always say, " Stop saying that dumb ass shit. The kids know what you're saying. You might as well just use the damn word instead of making shit up!!!"

I digress...

Back to the question...

Today, words are made up by someone, like my Dad, saying stupid shit over and over and over until it becomes common.

After the word (stupid ass saying) becomes so common that old ladies and everyone else is using it. Then those strange that we make become actual words backed up with definitions.

Even though I have never heard anyone use Dad's made up word, I was going to ambush someone with it.

As I typed the "word" into text, my phone gave it as an option as I typed....

What the FLUB?!?!?!?!?
