Last summer
I didn't bother how I would appear. I went out with my beige baggy sweatpants and my white spaghetti strap crop top. I had my hair in a messy bun, and I had my comfy vans. I was glad to see he came with a car instead of the usual motorbike. He opened the passenger seat for me and I got in.
"So, when are you going to start explaining?" I asked while I was gazing out through the window.
"When we get to the place, I want to take you to. Trust me, I'll explain everything." He said pulling out of the parking ground. I nodded.
We were on the road for around five minutes. His phone started ringing and I felt his glare at me.
"Pick it up." I said, my eyes fixed to the outside.
"Hello, this is detective Nolan Steven on the phone." He answered and I gasped. I still have not internalized the thought of Nolan as a detective.
"What?!" He screamed through the phone. "Tesni, is what?" he repeated.
"Nolan, watch out!" I screamed as I saw the truck that stopped in front of the red light. He didn't flinch as though he was in shock.
"NOLAN!" I yelled again trying to get him to step on the brakes. Nolan wasn't responding.
I bent my body to his and tried to turn the wheels to stop us from crashing into the truck.
The car crashed into the cab that was on the other side. Everything went blank.

I opened my eyes and I was sleeping in the hospital's emergency room; doctors were running around trying to help the patient sleeping next to me. I felt lightheaded and my attempt to get up failed.
I managed to turn my face around and I saw Sevyn in the bed next to mine.
What happened to Sevyn? Why is she here? I wanted to ask and scream out, but my voice was not managing to be audible even to my own ears.
The doctors surrounding her, left. I saw the police officers at the door as my eyes followed the doctors. I turned to face Sevyn. She was already looking at me, and my eyes met her beautiful big brown eyes.
"I'm so sorry Tesni, I couldn't take it anymore. I... I told them." Her voice was shaking, and her eyes started letting down river of tears.
"Sevyn, it's okay. Stop crying." My voice was not any louder than before, I doubt if she heard me.
"I'm... I'm sorry." She shut her eyes lazily.
Beep beep beep...
"SEVYN!" my voice finally left louder, and I broke down in tears.
The doctor held me down as I tried to break free and reach out to her.
She was dying. She was leaving me.

It had only been three weeks since Sevyn died. Nolan came to see me with my orange suit for the first time after I got imprisoned. I didn't even try and defend myself in court. Sevyn died without knowing that it wasn't her fault at all. It was all my fault.
Nolan still had his hand bandage on, he broke his arm in the accident. I was still in crunches. But, Sevyn was dead.
I finally reached the visit room to meet him. I saw his blue eyes glare at me with the same love they used to glare at me with. I sat on the chair in front of him, putting my crunches aside.
"You'll be out of here soon." He said, and he sounded like he meant it. I nodded to show my hope.
He took out a letter and gave it to me.
"It's from Sevyn. She couldn't confess about Nicholas in words. She only told the cops that, you killed him." He took a deep breath and continued. "But in this letter, she has told the entire story about how he was going to rape her, as well as the place where he took the two of you. We've already looked into the house; it wasn't registered under his name as his property. We've managed to get Sevyn's hair on the bed upstairs, and it matches with what she has told us. Now, I need you to tell me what exactly happened that day. And if it's all true, you will have to stay here so much shorter than you normally would, as it would be considered as self-defense. I will try my best to make sure of that." He explained without taking his eyes off of mine even for a second.
"The day was August 15." I started telling him what happened last summer.

"Neither of them told me how they knew each other until Nicholas said that he had forgotten something in his house. Sevyn agreed in going back and getting it as he stressed on the fact that it's important. We reached a big house that had a huge yard making it further from the other houses on the street. We got in, and he closed the door behind us. He made his way upstairs to his bedroom inviting us both to go with him. I was hesitant as I didn't know Nicholas before then. Sevyn then explained that she and Nicholas had known each other for more than three years. They met at a party when she was in LA for a vacation. He had moved here, to Winchester city about a month before that day, or so he told me helping out Sevyn explain how they knew each other.
She left me downstairs and went with him, as I still didn't agree in going up with them. It wasn't long after, that I heard the bedroom lock and Sevyn screaming "Leave me alone!" I knew something was up. I tried to call 911, but as I reached for my phone and dialled the number, my stupid phone died. Frustrated, I started looking for something to crush into the bedroom with, as I was certain that it was locked. Sevyn's cry got louder by the second.
I saw a baseball bat made of steel by the side of the room I was in. I grabbed it and made my way upstairs, running. As I broke in, I found the filthy Nicholas on top on Sevyn with his pants down. My hands swung the bat without thinking twice and hit him on the head. He fell on top of her and she pushed him off. She was crying and so was I.
I turned him around to see what is going on wit him, and he was bleeding on the head. He was dead. I quickly wrapped him with the blanket before he bled too much, and we carried him to his car. We got rid off the car together with his body in it, in the lake nearby after it got late."
I broke into tears remembering how much Sevyn was traumatized by Nicholas and remembering her apologize to me with her last words.
"That's enough." Nolan said holding my hands for comfort.
"I didn't tell her that I loved her. I... I loved her so much. Sevyn was practically my family. She was the sister I never had. If I had gave myself in last summer. Sevyn would have still been alive. I killed her trying to save myself. She... she was in the cab that I hit." I broke down into tears.
"Time's up. You can talk next time." The police officer standing in the room, waiting for us to finish, spoke. I stood up with my crunches. I turned around to look at Nolan, my eyes full of tears as the police took me out of the room.
