No More to Mourn
Your stomach felt like it was ready to upchuck as the teachers gathered every straggling student into the auditorium.
Today was the school field trip, and all around you were excited peers who couldn't be anymore happier with a free day off from actual work before the upcoming long weekend.
You though, couldn't be anymore sick to the stomach.
That place was the Kiseichu murder house- if they caught you with Cracker in there, fuck, he'd be dead, he'd be worse than just dead- he'd be slaughtered, in cold blood and in the law of some sham justice for so-called protection and good.
(Y/N), our body is tightening in here
Blinking out of your worried state briefly, you blinked down as you took your seat in the empty back of the auditorium.
Cracker sounded calm, even unfazed, which was a surprise since he's been taking over every night and running wild ever since the news hit- but it was also a relief.
At least one of you still had their head.
"Thanks man.." rubbing circles into your abdomen, the Kiseichu went lax, and it felt like there was goo in your guts for a brief moment before Cracker collected himself and continued to thrum around your lungs, making you only slightly uncomfortable.
"(Y/N)!" Turning to face the teen taking a seat to your right, you smiled and greeted Kidd with a soft punch to the chest, "ei sick boy, didn't know if you'd be well enough to join us" groaning at the teases, the male growled down at his stomach, "that was all this little shit, making me feel like we- I was gonna die from fever or something"
Zoro sat up from Kidd's right and leaned in, "don't worry, if anything goes wrong I'll protect you and your stomach" the bigger male responded with a fast, light punch aimed for the nose, but he missed and Zoro laughed.
"Nice try-" he was cut off with a harsh kick from above.
"Idiot, I leave you a moment and you're already stressing people out" craning your neck to look behind you, Luffy hid behind Sanji, who was looking quite unimpressed, with a cigarette in hand.
"Sanji, you'll get in trouble if the teachers see that" the other looked as if he was ready to grit his teeth in annoyance but instead just smiled politely at you with a light blush, "oh, please don't worry about me (Y/N)-san, I do this all the time during assemblies, it's too dark for those old farts to see"
Hmph, those Kiseichus must be having a hard time keeping their lungs from collapsing
You snorted at the remark, and in that moment the lights completely went out, and your principal appeared on the stage.
"Good evening everyone!" The majority of the student body didn't care to reply, but the man didn't let that hamper his spirits, "now today our school has been given a wonderful opportunity!" You nearly gagged.
"Now in light with all these Kiseichu incidents going on around our school, the Government Department of Health and Human Services suggested we go and teach you about the dangers of Kiseichus, there we will meet up with government officials who will show us their duties- and at the end we will let everyone ask questions!"
While some of the kids in front of you began to chatter excitedly, you felt an unsettled, unpleasant feeling twist your insides into knots.
No men dressed in white will take us (Y/N)
You nodded stiffly, "Not without a fight.."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anxiety was a bitch, it hurt you and Cracker and there was next to nothing you could do to hide it, let alone stop it.
The tour guide who introduced himself as Lucy or something was casually dragging your group around the place, indulging you all in the dissection chambers, the many termination rooms and the whole process of breaking the Kiseichus down.
Something seemed to have died inside of you and you feared it might have been Cracker.
Not a single peep came out of the Kiseichu ever since you took your first step into the pristine white building, and it made your belly ache in a feeling of loneliness.
"Hey.." jumping at the whisper, you turned to Kidd and lowered your head as he dragged you along with the group by the arm, "stop spacing out so much, he might notice.."
Glancing back at the tour guide, you felt another throb of sickness hit you when your eyes briefly connected, paranoia hit you like a bus and there was the powerful feeling inside you to run because you were sure, he knew, that had to have been the case.
Kidd hissed quietly at the feeling of sweat coating your arm and gave you a light shake, "snap out of it! Keep yourself together (Y/N).. we're almost through this.."
Rubbing down the prickling hairs over your skin, you took deep breaths as you searched for Cracker's comfort, only to come up short with not a stir to be made.
"Now this is our final room, the containment facility.."
The screen in front of the class slid open, and your skin crawled as a screech met your ears.
Horror struck you, hard.
A whole room- the size of your auditorium, full of Kiseichus trapped in jars the sizes of fire extinguishers, all of them squirming in restlessness and few laying motionless.
There were a few people in the room, using devices that looked similar to hoses or vacuums and plugging them into the jars, they were either sucking the Kiseichus out or spraying them harshly with some solution- but in both cases the Kiseichus screeched with pain and it made your eyes water.
Horrible... Horrible...
It hurt you to watch, it hurt you to just merely watch, it hurt you that you couldn't help those poor things, to not break them out.
"In this facility, we contain the Kiseichus we detain in a sterile container made to imitate the environment of a human body, with that, we can preserve them and identify them properly with the police's help before terminating them"
As the glass was slowly closing again, you stared hard into one container with a bluish Kiseichu, watching frozen as it seemingly... shrunk.
Eyes widening at the realization, you glanced to the tour guide, seeing that he didn't notice it, and went on with the ending of the tour.
"Kidd" Gripping harshly onto his arm, you stared the redhead down and gave him a pale look, "I think I just saw a Kiseichu escape" the teen almost stopped walking all together, but managed to refrain himself as you both went along.
"What?" Looking around as if he felt eyes on him, the teen grit his teeth and took a deep breath, "then what..?" You stared him down seriously, "I'm gonna go find them"
What?! No!
In the first time in forever, Cracker spoke, and you forgot about speaking to Kidd completely, "yes we are! They need our help!" Huffing tiredly, the redhead made sure to guide you along with the group as you spoke to Cracker, knowing that this was officially out of his hands.
We're in a dangerous place! We can't risk getting caught!
"Cracker.." your voice broke, and you finally felt the other move inside you again at the sound, "I need to help them.. at least one.. I can't have anymore to mourn when there's a chance I can help"
(Y/N)..
"Cracker.."
..Fine, we'll help
Softness overcame you, and you knew Cracker felt it too when he thrummed gently in your liver.
Glancing back to the hallway, you glanced up to the air ducts and felt a light flash above your head.
We don't like this feeling..
Grinning to yourself, you waited patiently, watching the tour guide lead you all back to the entrance and face your group with a bored look, "alright, this concludes our tour, if there are any questions-" your hand darted up and jumped in the air.
Somehow, the tour guide seemed to have sensed your excitement, as he immediately pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned, "..yes..?" You took in a deep breath, "I reeeaaallyyy need to pee" to emphasize your need to go, you hobbled around clumsily.
Not minding the narrowed look he gave you, the older man just pointed you in the right direction and you were gone.
"Alright" barging into the bathroom, you hunted down the stall with the air duct entrance right above it and stood atop the toilet seat.
There is no way we are separating and going in there
"Cracker please.. I won't move from here I promise, you're much faster and my body's too big" rubbing you gut as you gave it a sad pout, the Kiseichu vibrated before condensing into your palm.
If we can't find them quickly we're dropping this
Nodding along with him, you carefully moved Cracker to the mouth of the air duct and watched him slip in.
There was a pang of loss and a fuzzy sting in your head when your connection was severed, and the Kiseichu disappeared into the darkness of the ducts, leaving you now feeling the weight of your decision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cracker slithered through the ducts in a tired rush, hissing slightly at the drop of temperature and the gross feeling of this dirty, dusty environment that was the outside world.
We can't believe this..
Feeling more and more dirty as he moved on, the Kiseichu's feelers twitched and shied away once he came to a stop, not liking to touch anything outside of (Y/N)'s reach.
How can we even find him in this large place-?
Like the world could hear him, the Kiseichu was left dumbfounded when another blob slithered from the other direction.
Seeing Cracker, they slowed to a halt, shifting around in caution before slowly daring to reach out.
Knowing that communication was impossible without a host or mental connection, Cracker extended a feeler and hesitantly entwined it with the other's feeler.
We are Cracker
We are Sabo
The purple Kiseichu suddenly frizzled and puffed up at the familiar name, feeling shock bubble up.
Sabo? You are Ace's Kiseichu?
The blue blob vibrated at his host's name.
You know Ace?
Our host is close with him.. he thinks you're dead
Sabo paled visibly.
Ace...
There were a few stray moments of silence before Cracker felt a chill from the outside air, a reminder that he didn't belong out here.
Our host is waiting for us, she insisted that we help you
Rushing back to you before Sabo could respond, the blue Kiseichu could only flinch hesitantly before rushing after the other.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ugh.." frowning into the toilet bowl, you felt an uneasy wave wash over you, feeling physically sick from Cracker's absence.
Your body felt like it was collapsing without him, not being used to having so much room and having less energy to burn.
Turning back to the air duct, relief flooded you when you saw a purple mass reaching out for you, "Cracker!" Immediately gripping onto the other, he slid down your wrist and soaked into your skin, reconnecting himself to your body.
We found him
Seeing another Kiseichu poke out from the bars of the air duct, you gave him a smile and reached out for the other non-threateningly, "hi, we're gonna be your getaway guy"
