Housewarming

The first time Kidd woke up, it was still dark out, and all to be heard was the endless buzzing of various bugs, however, what stirred him was far from an insect.

He was half aware of Law slowly untangling himself from him, however, either because he was still too drowsy to care or not quite sure why he should, the redhead did nothing as Law unfurled his wings and rose from their small cranny within the tree roots.

After that, he was much more aware as the wind finally reached him, and the chill of the night instantly seeped in, seemingly determined with giving him hypothermia.

Now he was more than awake, and had half a mind to reach out for Law and drag him back when a different kind of warmth came to shield him.

The redhead mindlessly palmed at it, taking a few moments to recognize the leathery sensation and realize that it was Law's wing.

Content with that knowledge, exhaustion stormed his mind and forcefully shut him back to sleep.

The second time he woke up, he felt colder, not enough to be in any discomfort, but he could still recognize that the wing that previously shielded him from the gloom of the night was now a crude blanket.

There was a vague thought questioning Law's disappearance, but just as it came it passed on by with another high pitched gale, ripping through the trees with a whistle of anger and freezing him to the bone.

With a mindless shudder, the redhead clutched the blanket tighter around him, and lost himself in the howls of the night and the feeling of a silent sentinel over his shoulder- most likely that being Law.

For a brief moment, the howling of the wind muted, causing Kidd's ears to ring at the abrupt silence, the only thing echoing in his ears being the thudding of his own heart and a deep breath, not belonging to him.

The sound was reassuring in a way, and Kidd quickly fell asleep once more.

The third time Kidd woke up, it was no longer the dead of night, and a strip of sunlight that broke through the leafage of the trees suddenly shined in his eyes, effectively stirring the pale man up from his comfortable sleep.

At first he didn't plan on getting up, instead shifting around until the light missed his eyes and propped himself against the surrounding roots, however, soon after he was settled, the memories of last night sluggishly drifted back to him.

The realization that somebody was missing easily roused him from whatever spell he was still under, and Kidd sat up with a start.

Kidd winced at the sunbathed greenery, not quite ready to face such bright colours, but nonetheless forced himself to take it on.

Slowly easing out of the nook he took home in, the redhead searched the immediate area for his demonic familiar, but came up short with only the crude blanket he was left behind.

Clutching the thing to his face, Kidd gave it a look over, only to find it was just as it appeared to be, a wool blanket- though where Law got it from was a total mystery, as the item lacked any damning tags or labels.

Deciding that the item wasn't important for the time being, he left it in the nook and promptly redressed himself.

Now, where was Law?

The man's question didn't last long as a couple of voices sounded through the woods none too gently, and almost immediately, he worked his way in their direction.

As he made his way to Law and whoever it was he was talking to, the voices grew more lively, right to the point when the exorcist recognized the guest as the same God that brought them back to America.

Right, he still owed that guy a good punch in the gut for that..

"-the last time I'm gonna be doing this shit for you, you got that?"

"No need to be so grouchy Roronoa, you'll be given your due guerdon for this"

"That's not the point! Who the hell summons a God to help them with redecoration?!"

There was a bloodcurdling laugh, but instead of cooling his blood, it only made it race faster and hotter, knowing who it belonged to.

"Don't pretend you weren't at least a little interested in giving us a blessing and housewarming gift- c'mon, that's like, the God standard"

Zoro snorted the same time Kidd accidentally slapped himself in the face with a branch, though the redhead was able to keep quiet to avoid derailing the conversation at hand.

"Since when have I cared about 'standard God things'? It's not like I exist to the humans anymore or anything"

Kidd finally broke into a clearing, and there he found Law standing in all of his glory, side by side with Zoro as the two continued to eye a large tree house that Kidd definitely knew wasn't there before.

That, most likely being the God's doing.

Seeing as neither supernatural creatures acknowledged his presence yet, the redhead took that as his chance to get a good look of the building.

It looked as if somebody look a log cabin and shoved it in a tree, there was a stone chimney with dark smoke billowing from it, and a rope ladder leading up to the door, though, he did feel confusion seeing that the vines of the tree had already clung themselves to the surface of the building.

Must've been part of the magic that brought it there in the first place..

"Ah, I see somebody woke up.."

Turning back to Law, Kidd felt a grin grow on his face seeing the demon flicker his wings none too subtly in invitation, hooking the air as if trying to drag him over with invisible strings.

"Sorry if I slept in, seems I missed quite the party"

The God by Law's side snorted, giving the exorcist a single look over before softening his glare, and Kidd took that as a good sign and made a beeline for his familiar, "not really, it took us forever just to get this shit ready"

Law gave the greenie an unimpressed albeit amused smirk as his wings took the chance to wrap around Kidd's torso, "you mean it took you forever to get the teleportation right"

Zoro hissed, making the redhead by Law's side go on the defensive, but didn't lash out like he imagined he would.

"Is that why you woke up so damn early? 'Cause you knew he'd take forever to get it right?" Law laughed in response, causing the God to go red faced and cranky.

"Fine!" Zoro shouted, and began to stomp away dramatically, "I guess neither of you want any blessings of mine then!"

Law actually forced himself back into control at that and grabbed the retreating greenie's arm, "no! No.. sorry, yes we want a blessing"

Zoro gave Law an unimpressed look, but didn't move to yank his arm free from the demon, "I'll get a guerdon for it?"

Law nodded, "most definitely"

The two supernaturals stared each other down, silently analyzing one another, and Kidd recognized it as their way of assessing the other's mood and sizing them up, once again reminding him that even though the two appeared friendly, there was still that undertone of caution.

"Alright" with that, Zoro ripped his arm free and sauntered over to the tree house, finally giving Kidd the free time with his partner that he was previously seeking.

"So.. what's this blessing thing about..?" Kidd's heard of Gods blessing things such as heirlooms, grounds, and even the odd newborn infant, but never a house.

Law'd eyes forced themselves away from the exorcist's chest and gave him a lazy smile, "Zoro- if he still had a religion, would've been a God of retribution, warriors, and good health"

Weren't his followers wiped out by a plague? Kidd snorted but said nothing, as the God was only a few feet away.

"His blessings on homes would make sure all those who wrong the family would get what's coming to them.." Kidd mulled over this information, filing it somewhere in the back of his mind for later use if the need arose.

"Considering what we've done a few days ago, I thought that we'd probably need such a blessing and called Roronoa up" Kidd really doubted that he just rang the God up to their haunted forests, but didn't voice his thoughts aloud.

Except.. "is it okay to have a blessing?"

Law furrowed his brows and tilted his head in confusion, mindful of making sure to angle his horns away from Kidd as he did so, "what do you mean..?"

The redhead gestured his head to the house, where Zoro was now poking around the doorway, and gave the demon a soft squeeze in the shoulder, "is it okay to have a God's blessing in our home? You won't be negatively affected?"

Law hummed, now understanding his partner's train of thought, and looked back to the house himself, just in time to see Zoro rapping up the blessing.

"No, Roronoa's blessing won't be a problem, the only God with the divinity to harm a demon with blessings is the big man-" Law pointed a claw up to the skies, almost looking cautious as he did so, as if not wanting to risk attention to himself, "up there"

Kidd rubbed a hand down the small of the demon's back reassuringly, "alright then, nothing to worry about.."

At that moment, Zoro materialized in front of them, noticeably more bleary-eyed than before, and Kidd reasoned that being as young as he was, a blessing must've taken a lot more out of him than with older Gods.

"Alright, you got your house, you got your blessing, just give me my guerdon and I'll be outta here.." the greenie trailed off with a deep yawn, looking as if he was growing more and more drowsy by the minute.

Law gave Kidd's hand an appreciative squeeze before extending a small bag to the other supernatural, "as promised, fifty phoenix tears"

As soon as the God grabbed a hold of the bag, he vanished into thin air, leaving the two transgressors alone once again in their forest.

Kidd, though having no reason to, felt uneasy with the God in their home, most likely his brain recognizing the supernatural being as one naturally antagonistic to Law and casting him as a potential threat, so the moment he left their sight, he let out a sigh of relief.

Law hooked his wings around the redhead in an affectionate manner, seemingly happy to have the place all to themselves and recognizing his partner's ease, whispering low hums into Kidd's ear.

"Now, now Kidd, everything's alright, Zoro's one of the most harmless supernatural I know.." the reassurance was effective, and Kidd could feel himself in true solace as the demon rubbed a horn over his cheek.

"Heh, was I that obvious..?"

Law snorted in response, "with the way your soul burst to life with apprehension, I'd have thought you saw Akainu"

The redhead didn't say anything in response for a while, "so, what do we do now?"

The raven slowly unwound himself from his partner and gave him a wicked grin, "whatever we fancy now.."

Kidd grinned back, his hands already ghosting over delicate areas in the base of his wings, "yeah..?" He rumbled, "well, I think I fancy us breaking in our new bed.."

Law's eyes slitted very briefly, but the damage was already done, and both men could feel the air between them growing hotter and hotter, "you wanna try?"

"Do I?"

Both knew that the rest of the day would be promptly spent with some well made quality time.
