He didn't exactly know how he had gotten to this point, sitting across dream while sipping from a cup of bittersweet coffee.
It wasn't exactly surprising- Error has seen Dream as the sappy type. He remembers joking to Ink about how Dream was the type of person to take somebody to a coffee shop on the first date- he was right, but didn't pay any mind to it as he flushed slightly every time he made eye contact.
Stars, it shouldn't be so difficult to look at him! He's on a date for Pete's sake! One he 100% consented to (May have been a bad idea)!
Dream was smiling, gazing happily at Error, making lighthearted conversation between sips of the tea he had gotten- some lemon one that smelled quite nice. Error didn't understand why he would invite him to a coffee shop just to drink tea, though.
"So, Error?" Dream asked, smiling calmly as he set down his cup on the table, shifting and probably putting his hands in his lap. "How are you feeling? You look pretty blue."
Error wasn't sad. He didn't look sad, did he? Of course he goes and fucks everything up, on the first date of all things-
oh.
oh fUCK HE'S BLUSHING-
Sadly, that causes the poor glitchy skeleton to blush even more, turning and fake coughing into the sleeve of the black coat he had worn. (It was his favorite. As much as he hated to admit it, he wanted to look nice for Dream.) "Well, you look pretty yellow yourself." He counters.
Dream looks at him with an unreadable expression, before smiling and giggling softly. "I guess that's so," he puts a hand up to his cheek and uses it to support his head as he arches his eyes and smiles.
Dream always have off this natural calming aura- always good for practical things like befriending people or calming upset students in his history classes. But now, that aura caused a light, bubbly feeling in Error's soul. It feels like he's floating, Dream's magic like warm sunshine.
Error takes another sip of his coffee.
He hoped he wasn't being rude. He was quite flattered somebody as kind as Dream had taken him on a date.
"Thank you," Error starts, before looking for the words he wants to use. His voice is less glitched out- mainly from him trying to speak as clearly as possible. "Not just for the coffee. But... ugh I sound dumb. For... your kindness, and your patience. I'm well aware I'm not the easiest monster to deal with." Error stares awkwardly down into the cup of almost black coffee, half empty and still pleasantly warm.
Dream shakes his head, lifting a bony hand to gingerly take Error's in his. "Error," he starts, smile absent from his lips, replaced with a serious stare as he gazed into the other's eyesockets. "You're not a burden. Your company is lovely, and I understand you might feel strange. I'm assuming it's one of your first dates, after all," Dream chuckled breathlessly, rubbing his thumb over Error's phalanges.
"I can read you like a book."
Error wanted to take slight offence, but he couldn't. It was true- Dream was uncannily good at reading people. It also wasnt helpful that error was a fairly easy person to read.

A little while later, the finished their drinks, though they stayed a little longer to chat. Once Error complimented Dreams scarf, the topic soon fell into knitting and crocheting, the types of fabric that was best for different articles, and so on. Dream seemed pleased that they had found something they both liked, and Error was happy to ramble about.
It was almost two, now. It was about time for both of them to go.
"Dream," Error began, stepping a little closer and hesitantly taking Dreams hand in his. Not a tight grip, just a light one, a reassurance he was there without the touch becoming overbearing. "Thank you, again. I'd really appreciate it if we could spend some time together again," and Error smiled.
And not one of those fake, 'please-don't-say-yes' smiles he had seen once or twice when bringing somebody on a date. It was a rosy cheeked smile that met the eyes, the type of smile you want to see, again and again. "Yeah," Dream breathed. "I'd like that a lot."
"It's settled then. Meet me at the park Tuesday at sunset?" Error have a more hopeful sort of smile, though it was more loose. Trusting, content. Dream smiles right back, positive aura fizzling happily with his own emotion.
"Yes please."
"Then it's a Date." Error presses a yellow daffodil into Dream's hands before walking away, pleased.
