Ren leaned against the small opening in the side of his mega tower. He looked out across his Star Wars themed base, as heavy pours of rain drenched the dry biome. Making a custom lava biome wasn't the best idea, especially when it came to rain. It didn't rain on the server much so it hadn't bothered him at the time, but now he was bothered. The water began running across the hardened rock. The hermit winced as the water ran across the biome, hardening all the lava into obsidian and drenching all of his hard work. Ren stepped over the edge of the small platform, his elytra activating as his foot left the block. The rain pounded against the wings as the hermit struggled to stay in the air. His heartbeat sped up as his feet loomed over a pool of lava that hadn't been hardened yet.
"Come on stupid elytra- Dont fail me now." Ren said, moving his legs back and forth to propel himself forward. His feet landed on the crunchy black powder that littered the edge of the lava river, he had to stop himself from stumbling back into the lava as the rain continued to pour over the biome. Once he got his footing, the werewolf made a mad dash for the small tatoo-Ren village. He pushed open the door to his main hut and turned to look back at the village that was now drenched in water, then walked inside. Ren took his glasses off his face and tried drying them off on his damp shirt. He would have to fix all of the water damage after the rain stopped and knowing he didn't do the things he needed for it he would have to go to the shopping district for supplies. "Maybe I can improve the base now that most of it will be damaged." Ren said, trying to think enthusiastically. The hermit side stepped into the hut's nether portal, watching as his vision was taken over by purple swirls. Ren opened his eyes to be greeted by the heat of the nether. The werewolf began to make his way through the nether, the heat drying his clothes. Soon he made it to the shopping district portal and stepped out into the district. Ren walked out to see rain falling hard over the entire district. 'This small storm must have been stretching across the entire server.' Ren thought as he walked calmly through the rain and towards Bdubs railway system to Aqua Town. Water trickled down the steps as Ren made his way down.
The hermit stepped out of the minecart as it slowed to a stop at the Aqua Town station. Water was slowly running down the stairs when Ren began to walk up into the small city. The tall buildings did not provide much cover from the rain, the streets sewers slowly filtering out water that flowed through. Ren normally liked the rain, but today it was just annoying. Peaceful memories of sitting in the calming rain on Loser Island entered his mind. The few times it would rain, Ren would sit on the soft shores of the island with Pamela, his beloved bovine. The mooshroom cow would sit comfortably in the sand with him, the cow providing cover to the cream colored cat that laid beneath her. Ren sighed as the memory sat in his mind. Loser Island was gone and so was Pam, but that was ok. He just had to move forward. The werewolf made his way to the various shops. He filled his satchel with supplies as his diamond stash slowly decreased. Ren walked out of Bdubs wool shop and headed down the street back to the rail system entrance. The rain hadn't let up at all the entire time the hermit had been there. Ren looked across the city landscape as he slowly made his way down the sidewalk. He had so many things to do once back at his base, fix any damage from the rain, clean and organize the barrels in his hut that had been clustered and unorganized for weeks, and he was going to try to help some other hermits with some things after as well. His eyes darted back as something caught his eye. There, sitting under the covered entrance to Xisuma's theater, was Jevin. The hermit sat staring out into the rain and sitting criss cross on the ground. Ren smiled and began to walk over.
"Ey Jevin!" He called. Jevin looked towards Ren as he made his way to him, the slime's black eyes widened.
"Hey Ren," Jevin said with a smile as the werewolf stepped under the theater's entrance cover.
"What are you doing?" Ren asked, the wet hermit taking a seat next to the slime. Jevin looked back out towards the rain. It was hard to tell his exact expression but Ren thought he was frowning.
"Rain and I aren't really a good mix...really water for that matter." He said. Ren tilted his head to the side in confusion. He had seen Jevin touch and be in water before no problem, so what was wrong this time.
"I thought rain was fine for you?" Ren said. Jevin nodded, stretching to lean back on his hands.
"It is, just a lot of the water gets into my skin and it's annoying and hard to drain out." Jevin explained. Ren let out a small 'ooooo' as he understood what his friend was saying. Normal slimes would get different things stuck in themselves like rocks or any dropped items. They kind of worked like monster vacuums, so it would make sense that Jevin, who is technically a slime, would get things stuck or have liquids get infused into his slime skin covering.
"Oh here hold on." Ren said as he stood up and walked away from the blue slime. Ren went to the opposite side of the covering and shook himself off like a dog. Jevin laughed as Ren walked back. "Hey I was wet ok!" Ren said as Jevin continued to laugh. The werewolf took a seat next to the slime again as the two began to talk.
"It hasn't rained like this in a while." Ren said, watching as water trickled down onto the stone ground.
"I bet Doc is having a great time." Jevin said with a bit of sarcasm. Ren laughed, remembering how much the creeper disliked the rain. He was probably cursing his lungs out at the sky as he scrambled around.
"Bdubs must be having a fun time with that." Ren commented, imagining the cyborg's boyfriend screaming and laughing in the rain as he tried to get Doc to join him. Jevin laughed a bit. As his laughter faded, it left the two in the drumming rhythm of the rain. "Will your base be fine after this?" Ren asked. Jevin nodded.
"My base was built to keep water out, it should be fine!" Jevin said in a hopeful tone. "Tatoo-Ren isn't really fit for the rain though." He said, making Ren sigh.
"Ya, Tattoo-Ren will be fine. It's the lava biome I'm worried about. It wasn't really designed to deal with rain, rain ruins the dry and molten feel of the biome." Ren said.
"I could help with repairs if you want?" Jevin offered. Ren shook his head in decline.
"No it's ok, it is something I could fix in at least a day, thank you though." The werewolf said. Hopefully it would be something he could fix in a day, if he worked on it diligently enough.
"All right, my offer still stands though." Jevin said. Ren smiled and turned to look forward again. "Do you have anything to eat? I left my ender chest at my base." Jevin asked. Ren thought for a moment before pulling a micro shulker out of his bag. It was a small vanilla cake he had gotten for later from Scar's Moo-Pop Cafe.
"I would be happy to share." The werewolf said, pulling out two forks, now grateful that he had grabbed a few extra. The two each took a bite of the cake, Ren watching as Jevin ate the fluffy dessert in the strange way the hermit had learned not to question over time. Ren tried his piece and felt his tail wag a bit. He really liked vanilla. The two sat happily as the werewolf waited out the rainfall with the slime. Ren loved it because it was the first time in a while he had sat down and taken a break. Maybe he did like rain again, it provided him with a break and the ability to hang out with a friend.
Soon all that was left in the sky was humid fog as the rain stopped. Ren and Jevin stepped out, glad but also slightly sad at the break in the rain.
"Thanks for staying with me Ren." Jevin said, giving the werewolf a funny smile. Ren aimed finger guns at him with glee.
"No problem my dude." He smiled. Jevin soon left, Ren could hear the rockets fire and propel the slime into the now decently clear sky. Ren sighed. Now that he was back in silence, he realized all of the things he had to do. A bad feeling built up in his chest, but he quickly shoved it down. The last thing he wanted to do was decent back into the mindset he was in before hanging out with Jevin. Maybe he would go check out Loser Island again? Ya..That sounds like a good idea. The hermit activated his elytra and flew his way over to the sandy peaceful shores of Loser Island. His base repairs could wait just a bit longer.
When you accidentally make some wholesome yet sad RenDog sh*t. The amount of power I feel right now is too much.
I love these challenge ideas and I wanna try to do more. Do yall want more? Not all the time- but just nice fun challenges every now and again?
