The Barn
"And that ends our tour!" Sweat-dropping as the younger boy chuckled innocently, you turned to Jinbe and deflated, seeing the guy was busy reviewing the things he wrote in his notebook.
Walking along with them around the chain fence circling the resort, you spotted a bright orange that didn't fit with the darker greens and browns and blinked when you realized it was Nami opening the gate of the fence.
Making a questioning gurgle, Luffy looked to where you were staring and rushed ahead, "oi! Nami! Whatcha doing?!"
As you and Jinbe eventually caught up to the two, you listened to their conversation as you got closer.
"Ah, hey guys, I- I'm trying again at the barn.." you felt the atmosphere change when Luffy's smile dimmed, "oh, were you gonna go alone? Nami that's dangerous!" Now taking a defensive stance, the raven haired boy leaned forwards and puffed out smoke from his nose.
"Yes, Luffy's right" Jinbe then joined the conversation, giving the woman a concerned frown, "we'll go with you" Luffy nodded along with the older man, all the while you looked between them with a look of confusion.
Moaning out to get their attention, the three all turned to you and made faces like they forgot you were totally not understanding a thing they were saying, "ah- sorry (Y/n), I guess you don't know about the barn.." Nami gave you an apologetic shrug as she pulled open the gate.
Following the others as they walked into the vegetation, you moved along an old dirt path that went into the forest, "the barn is actually a storage shed where the resort would store all their stuff, it has lots of non-perishable food in there, batteries, light-bulbs, blankets, a freezer, the private generator, a bunch of resort stuff" you nodded at the explanation, understanding Nami so far.
Luffy then turned to you with a grumpy frown, "but then that stupid Jaggy and his group showed up while we were out! He stole a bunch of our foods and left it open- now a bunch of zombies are hanging around there and we can't get any of the stuff back!"
You quirked a brow as Nami sighed exasperatedly, "he's talking about Kidd"
Feeling like you've heard the name before, you thought back to your previous conversations and felt you eye light up in recognition, right, Kidd was the leader of a rival Supernova group.
That would also explain why they were at your long abandoned grocery store.
"Aah" making a soft sound of understanding, you mulled over the information that was given to you and stored it into the back of your mind, whilst hearing your noise, Jinbe glanced at you with a briefly unnerved expression before sighing, "you even sound like them.. sorry (Y/n), I just never heard you say anything before.."
Shrugging your shoulders to his apology, you watched as the group began to draw firearms as you moved deeper, guessing that you must have been getting close to the storage shed.
Soon enough, a clearing opened up to you, and in the middle was a large storage shed that indeed resembled a barn, with your one eye you could already see movement from a few zombies and assumed there were even more inside.
"Ah" turning to Luffy, the younger clinked at you with a look of indifference, "(Y/n) doesn't have a gun" the other two flinched at the observation, cringing expressions clawed at their faces, "you're right, shit"
As both Nami and Jinbe looked regretful, you saw a zombie limping its way to the four of you and moaned when an idea came to you, moving towards the creature with an excited gleam in your eye, you didn't pay any mind to their cries of concern.
"(Y/n)!" Luffy raised his fists in alarm, brass knuckles gleaming as you made your way closer to the zombie.
Pulling back your fist as you stepped in front of the undead, you grinned as you decided to use your full strength for once, and felt your humerus grit against your arm socket once your knuckles slammed into his face.
To everyone's surprise- including yourself, the head came flying off the zombie's shoulders, zooming across the field, and rolling into the storage shed, turning to see two living people gawking at you in shock and one in awe, you looked back to the crumpled body on the grassy field and then back to your bruised, bloody fist.
Woah, you knew that the power of being undead was stronger than the living but that was incredible.
"(Y/n)! That was awesome!" Luffy didn't hesitate to rush up to you and engulf you in an inescapable hug, eyes shining with excitement as Jinbe looked over the decapitated corpse with a blank face, "harmless as a bug..." he mumbled.
"Come on guys!" Watching with a loose smile as Luffy made a dash for the shed, you followed after him as the adrenaline began to pump through the veins, body now beginning to rush with the first kill.
The shed was crawling with them- just as you thought.
They probably saw the shed as a safe place to wander, considering there were no roots or trees in the way of their wandering, although it wasn't a safe place for them anymore once the four of you got to work.
As more and more zombies were having their lights knocked out, you swiftly took a mental note of how it was slowly getting harder to prevent yourself from slipping on blood with each kill, with every head blown off, the blood practically oozed out everywhere, and the floor was red all around by the time you cleared most of it.
It also damaged your fists like hell, your arms felt like they were threatening to fly right out of their sockets and your nails dug into the palms of your hands with every punch.
"Ah!" Freezing up at the shout, you looked to the back and felt something choke up in your throat seeing Nami was cornered, and her weapon fell from her reach, rolling away on the blood soaked floors.
"Nami!" Seeing both Luffy and Jinbe rush through the blood soaked boxes and aisles to save her, you growled seeing that they weren't going to make it when another hoard came up from behind and got in their way.
Seeing the zombie on top of Nami, trying to get a bite out of her face, it brought back a memory from the first day of your new life and you were suddenly pissed to all hell.
Like hell you were gonna let someone else go through that shit.
"Auooghh!" Yelling at the zombie in anger, the thing stopped snapping its jaw and rose its head to face you, demeanor now docile and relatively calm.
Taking that chance, Nami kicked it off and scurried back to Luffy and Jinbe, now standing in confusion as the other zombies in the front froze in their tracks at your shout.
"Aaaaahh!" Yelling at all the zombies in a pissed fashion, as per usual, they shuffled backwards from your sounds and began to retreat, leaving the other three befuddled.
Approaching the entrance as they all left, you watched them carefully as they hurriedly limped into the line of trees, not even looking back to face you.
"(Y- Y/n)" Whirling around to see the clear shock on Jinbe's face, he took a few steps towards you and knelt down seriously, "the zombies.. can you control them?" Frowning as you shook your head, you pulled out the notebook and pouted to yourself as you wrote, not liking that you were accidentally getting blood on the pages.
'I don't control them, but whenever I growl at them they run away from me'
Little did you know, that this was actually a big deal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What?! (Y/n) can scare away zombies?!" At that, Usopp rushed towards you ecstatically and hugged you tightly.
"You're going to go out with me all the time!" Chopper followed the olive skinned teen's lead and jumped onto your back, causing you to lose all interest in the rest of the group's conversation as the three of you began to goof off.
"You guys cleared the barn?" Robin glanced to you as she spoke, smirking in amusement when you rushed around with the small brown haired boy on your shoulders.
"Oww! I finally get my workspace back! I'm gonna make a super fence around it to keep the zombies out!" Franky had tears rushing down his eyes as he posed dramatically, cheering in joy at the accomplishment.
"It was more like (Y/n) cleared the barn herself.." Nami mumbled shyly.
Zoro pouted irritably, glancing at you with a half-irritated and half-interested glare, "tch, and here I thought she was harmless with that silly attitude of hers.."
"Yeah!" Luffy literally shoved himself into the conversation, headbutting Zoro in the chin, and causing the green haired teen to stumble back with tears pricking the corner of his eyes, "(Y/n) was so cool! She saved Nami when this zombie was trying to bite her and yelled at them all- and then they all ran away scared!"
"They responded to her voice?" Robin's eyes finally turned back to the others, her interest piqued at the spunky teen's story, "yeah! They ran away as soon as they heard her!"
Sanji blew out a puff of smoke and glanced at you with a curious look, "why would they get scared of her?" The orangette sweat-dropped as her mind went back to your first kill, "well, if I were them I'd run too after seeing what she did to the first one.."
Robin's head darted up with a sharp, soft gasp, electric blue eyes gleaming as they came to an answer, "what if they see her as a predator?"
"A predator..?" Jinbe scratched his cheek absentmindedly, "so you think they see her as a step above the food chain?" the raven haired woman nodded, "probably.."
All of them turning back to you, the group sweat-dropped as they watched you strangely dance around with Usopp and Chopper on your back, Luffy now joining the mix as he circled you animatedly with a wide grin.
Glancing over at Sanji, Zoro's eye twitched with a look of exhaustion, "a step up the food chain or not, that woman isn't any different from those morons.."
Biting on his cigarette, the blonde clenched his eyes shut and grimaced when he couldn't think up of a clever retort to defend you, "yeah.. you may be right.."
