"What exactly are you doing here, Kuroko?" Kagami asked the other as he continued on munching on his burgers. He was already halfway through his mountain.

"I was sitting here from the beginning, Kagami-kun." Kuroko sat sill, drinking his milkshake. His eyes moving every once in a while, following other customers in the restaurant or the people outside. "I like analyzing others."

'Analyzing others-?'

"Kagami-kun," Kurokos voice snapped the tall teen out of his small train of thoughts. He stopped unpacking his last burger and fixed his eyes onto the smaller boy. Something in his chosen tone told the American to stop and pay close attention. "Please follow me after you finish that."

---------------------

The light blue haired male led the way to a nearby basketball court.

"Okay, so why are we here in the dark?"

"I want to see what you can do, obviously."

"Kuroko..." A sigh. "I don't play basketball just to have fun. I play it so go against strong players."

'He really is like him, huh?' Kuroko looked to side before making his way to a nearby bench, placing his bag onto it. He opened it and pulled a basketball out of it, feeling the rubber against his fingers.

"I've heard you were in a 'legendary' team, huh?" Kagami placed his hands into his pockets smugly, feeling very confident all of a sudden. "Strong guys have a certain smell to them, but you're weird. You don't smell like anything."

"What are you, a dog?"

"Wha- I am not a freaking dog, you bastard!"

"Kagami-kun, if you were curious, you could have simply said so. Sometimes I don't understand your thought process. Let's play One-on-One."
Kuroko threw the ball to Kagami, wanting to see what he could and would do. His blank gaze changed. His blue eyes grew intense, they changed into an electric blue. The Analyzer of the 'Generation of Miracles' was present. His gaze solely on his opponent.

Kagami dribbled the ball slowly, unaware of the current changes happening. The tall male let his confidence get the better of him, not paying much attention to the smaller. This little mistake let to Kuroko stealing the ball back and simply vanishing. 'Wha-!?'

"If you don't pay attention on court, you will lose."

Kuroko swiftly made his way to the hoop with the ball before shooting. Kagami turned around, shock on his face as he watched the ball circle the hoop before falling in it. Kuroko won.

"Kagami-kun you are quite strong, but I do not care about who is the strongest. It is simply a matter of point of view." The light blue haired boy said, his electrifying gaze on the taller one before letting his analyzing side simmer down. "I am different from you and my past teammates."

"I'm a shadow."

---------------------

The next day at club practice, Riko and Hyuga stood near the open doors, watching as the rain fell.

"We still have time left, Coach." Hyuga said. His body turned away from his friend, but his eyes were watchful. "What should we do?"

"I want to see what our freshmen can do. This might be a good opportunity."

The captain and coach turned back to practice. Riko blew her whistle. The club members approached.

"Let's have a 5vs.5 mini game!" Riko said loudly to the students. "The first years against the second years."

Said students found themselves in their team constellations again, pulling practice jerseys over their shirts. Yellow for the freshmen and blue for the second years.

"A match against our senpais, that means...!"

"Do you remember what they told us when we joined the club? Their result from last year..."

"Last year with only first years, they made it until the finals...!"

"Seriously?!"

"That's completely out of the ordinary..."

The freshmen were nervously staring at their upperclassmen, unsure if they could even stand a chance against them.

"It's not the time to be scared." Kagami said confidently with a smirk on his lips. He felt motivated from what he heard from his senpais, he really wanted to see what they could do. "Of course it's better if the opponent is stronger rather than weak!"

The other first years looked over at the red haired giant before pulling their act together and focusing on the game. Kuroko glanced at his classmate. It seemed like their little One-on-One from the day before helped a bit. Kagami definitely helped his current teammates and shared his motivation.

"Let's go!"

---------------------

As the mini game went on, both teams had chances to win some points. Nearing the end of the spontaneous match, both teams were on equal ground regarding the points.

Every player had a chance to throw some baskets, well, nearly everyone.

Kuroko stayed down. He didn't want to show to much of what he can do, the team shouldn't depend on him later on. He slightly regretted going full out against Kagami last night, but it just felt right. The tall freshman needed that lesson too.

Well... Kuroko had thought he got through that thick head of him.

"WOOW!!!"

"The first years are in the lead!"

"Kagami is the only one scoring through."

"His jump is really strong!"

Kuroko was a passing specialist. The 'Generation of Miracles'  were thankful for his lack of presence in that sense. He could analyze better if the attention wasn't on him, like with his vanishing drive or phantom shoot. He liked to be on passing duty or seated on the bench when he analyzed. The smaller teen kept, unknowingly to everyone else, stealing the ball and passing it to his teammates.

"The ball was stolen?!"

The ball flew straight at Kagami, who dunked it with his stupidly high jumping skills. The consequences to that were three guys teaming up on him, blocking all chances of Kagami getting the ball. The second years used their tactic to gain some points, making them lead the game.

"They're really strong after all..."

"Actually, there was no way for us to win from the start..."

"No way...? What the hell is with that!" Kagami yelled at one of his teammates, pulling him closer to himself by their shirt. He looked scary.
"Please calm down." Kuroko said sharply. He bent his knees, hitting the back of Kagamis knees. The taller let go and stopped. Kurokos eyes sharpened. He couldn't tolerate this kind of behavior. His focus was on the taller, ignoring the shock of the other freshmen.

"You bastard...!"

On the other side, by the coach.

"Seems like there's a dispute." Koganei Shinji, a second year, commented. "Kuroko... Now that I think about it, he was there too..."
Riko looked at the scene with a deadpan look an her face. She was about to whistle and step in, when she noticed. Kuroko was playing. While, yes, she was shocked to realize she didn't notice him at all, it was his eyes that stopped her. They were filled with so ething dangerous.

In the last three minutes, Kuroko kept passing to his other teammates more and more. One of those passes resulted in scoring points.

"What... It... It's in?!"

"Before you even notice it, the pass goes through and they score?!"

In that moment, Riko had a moment of realization, like a light bulb lit up.

'The former regular from Teikou Middle School who's specialized in circulating passes without being seen...!' The female Coach thought, shock visible on her face. 'I knew the rumor, but to think he actually exists... The phantom sixth player of the 'Generation of Miracles'!'

---------------------

The practice minigame ended with the first years in the lead.

Kagami sat once again with a mountain of burgers at Maji-Burgers, Kuroko with him at the same table. Kagami let the other know of his new goal. His goal to take on the "Generation of Miracles" and win.

"I think it's impossible."

"Hey!"

"I don't know about the potential of your abilities, yet, but with your current level. You can't hold a candle to any of them." Kuroko told him seriously, although with a slight sad touch in his voice.

Kuroko decided at that moment to make the redhead his new 'light'.

"Kagami-kun, I have decided as well." Kuroko said, looking the other straight into his eyes. "I play a supporting role on court, a shadow. But the shadow will become darker if the light is stronger."

Kuroko kept his gaze, that electrifying blue returning. His eyes practically challenged the taller to speak against his choice.

"And it will make the white of the light stand out more." The boy continued. "I will make you, the light, the number one in all of Japan."

It seemed like his words worked.

"Nice words you got there!" Kagami laughed. "Just do what you want."

Kuroko smiled. "I will do my best."
